The warriors will beat the Rockets in a playoff series but it won't be because of their back court

I'd disagree, kind of.

The only two teams that came close to beating the dubs in a playoff series since 2015 were the thunder and cavs.

The common denominators are that they had two one on one dynamos that could consistently threaten GSW's switching D and were good at switching on D themselves. (Cavs in 16', not this current cavs team). I think the Rockets can replicate that on Defense as well.

But Do we trust CP & EG to be able to get off against them over the course of a series? We'll see. I love CP but have little faith that he's getting busy on the level that they need it at over the course of a 7 game series against them. Individual brilliance by multiple guys is how it's going to happen and Idk if I see that out of the trio of Gordon / Paul / Harden.

Didn’t catch inside the nba. Been stopped watching that.

Ain’t catch the convo...but if it’s best backourts....Steph & Klay ARE better than Harden & CP3. And y’all know I’m prolly one of the biggest Chris Paul fans on here. Some of y’all rockets fans funny. Real slanderous a few years ago...now y’all love the Point god :smh:.

That light skin ***** on Golden State is rey be a top 10 player of all time. He on another level. Harden the mvp this season though. Cp3 a top 5 pg of all time. Fun to watch.
name names though. cause i've personally never felt this way.

lol @ steph being a top 10 player of all time though. c'mon man lol

Nah. This year the Rockets backcourt is clearly better this year

Klay Thompson is shooting 51/47/87 from the field right now....

Steph before the injury....top 3 or 4 in MVP Voting. As well as being a top 2-3 player in the league.

On paper...the rockets have the 5th & 6th-10th best players in the league in harden & Cp3....And they meshing beautifully.

That GSW continuity, chemistry and excellence gives them the edge. I do think the Rockets are the 2nd best team in the league though.

Harden and rockets would need to play out of their minds and catch the warriors struggling just for it to be competitive

The margin of error is so slim for houston whereas warriors have so many option

Are we going to dismiss the importance of the three ball in 2017?

I don't know, are we? I guess not if it's a laker

none of us houston fans are even saying we'd beat the warriors in a series, not even sure where all this came from.

warriors are clearly the gold standard. i think we can get 2 max. it would take a KD or steph injury for us to be on an even playing field, and even then the warriors would still have a slight advantage because of draymond/Iggy > PJ/Luc.

The reason I know he will cause he's never played with the floor this spaced.

Blake and Jordan not putting fear into anyone from the perimeter. I guarantee no one is cheating off Ryan Anderson and he spots up 4ft behind the 3 point line.

The Rockets also have a guy who gets 20 a game coming off the bench as well.

Right now the starting backcourt is averaging 40+PPG and 20+ assist a game and that's with CP3 on a minute restriction.

I'm still not sold on the Rockets getting past the Spurs if they meet.
i'll never count out Pop, but i'd feel pretty confident if we play the spurs. as of right now, i'd also wager money if the two teams met and if the rockets were healthy.

main difference is having CP3/Harden on the floor for 48 minutes whereas last year we had basically 0 production from Lou Will in that role (against the Spurs) when Harden sat. plus we've added 2 elite defenders and are a top 5 defensive team (#1 with CP3 in the lineup)...

Harden/CP over Steph/Klay isn't close of you ask me.

Put teams around them like they have now and you can make an argument.

Start two new teams and give me the choice and you can damn near add a third player to Steph/Klay and it's still Harden/CP

Just say Steph and Harden are equals, none of you can tell me you're taking Klay> CP.

If you tell me that then, well...please just don't.

Right he hasn't played with a floor this spaced but the issue isn't the space with CP it's that I don't think he can beat any of the playable dubs off the bounce, space or not. He's too good to completely doubt his ability to do it, but I'd have to see CP being able to go 1v1 and get downhill consistently against them.

So often when the dubs / Rockets play, (Or when the dubs play anyone really) their switching blows up everything and forces you to play 1v1 more often than one would like. From the eye test, that's not to CP's advantage.

I do think the Rockets are the 2nd best team in the league and that they'll beat any other team in the league in a 7 game series though.

in a vacuum it's not even close

cp3 is literally like top 3 all time in win shares or something like that (total win shares and win shares/48 ). klay doesn't belong on the same level as the other 3

Might have to go into my pokédex and see if Rockets fans had this same energy towards Chris Paul the last few seasons.

*5 minutes later*

I thought right.

Glad the GPGOAT is getting more love in here doe :pimp:

First game of the season Gordon singlehandedly destroyed that switching. If Gordon is healthy for the playoffs I like my chances with those switches.

It's no coincidence that Steph was in foul trouble that game.

Can't fault Rocket fans for being optimistic. They're supposed to be.

But let's look at the reality. The team that's getting everyones best shot every night got better over the summer.

Lebron, Houston, and OKC ( ) are all great adversaries for the AWA to root for but if GS marches into April rested and locked-in, playing at their highest level, and able to go 10 deep...good luck.
