Im thinking it has a lot to do with the rise in popularity of the NBA, and forecast to grow even more over the next couple of seasons. It's a global sport, now more than ever. Probably feel like the market is growing enough to support another brand other than the big two.

Basket ball and Soccer/futbol are the biggest games in town. NB is all over futbol( I got them black&orange Liverpool 576ers!!) and by NOT having an offering they are losing out on that slice of the pie.
