***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

I can't wait for this to be done as well. One thing that does pique my interest is if there's nothing there, why is this investigation taking so long?

:eek at that photo

Maybe it's cause I work in the legal field, but maybe it's taking so long so Wells can rack up those billable hours :lol

I saw that report last night and all I did was :{

First of all, I think at this point we just need to wait until the NFL actually makes a statement. And I agree that these media leaks are getting out of hand. These "sources" leak bits and pieces of a story when we need the entire story in order to figure out what really went down if anything. It's like ESPN was thirsty for breaking news on this.

In regards to the actual story, it doesn't really make any sense like you said. Why would you want to use a kicking ball when you're being accused of wanting to use deflated footballs?

Anyone read that new "report"? It really makes zero sense to me why the team would want an underinflated kicking ball when it's usually the harder they are the further they go. One of the main constants in all these leaks/stories is the person responsible for starting the investigation, the VP of game operations, Mike Kensil who's name some of you might recognize as he used to be the director of operations for the Jets...:rolleyes.

How the league keeps allowing these all these leaks and allegations to get out there in the middle of an investigation beats me. It's a pretty irresponsible way of conducting an investigation. There really hasn't been any news of any actual substance from the league since the investigation began,nothing but leaks from "sources" just fueling more speculation.

this stuff is all over the place, man. makes no sense. every leak/story is different. i don't even know what to believe at this point.

Now they saying the ball Mcnally was trying to introduce into the game was given to him by an NFL official......Are you ******* kidding me?

They're also saying the league already had the video of the official giving the ball to him and that it's a part of the investigation

ESPN looking real funny in the light. Are they really that thirsty for a story that they're taking half assed info from "sources" who don't even know the full scope of whats going on?

******* media, man :{

and these ******* nfl league sources that keep leaking BS info...**** these guys

I've stopped taking anything they report on the matter seriously since they've been wrong time and time again trying to publish the latest "news" and keep spreading misinformation

I hope that that's just his starting price for the negotiations and they can work there way down from there cause I doubt that the team would pay him anything more than $4mil a year. Even that's a little much since the team doesn't value that position that much. Iirc Kevin Faulks largest deal with the team was 6 years/15mil.

Yeah. I'm hoping something can be worked out. He was crucial in the Super Bowl and I'm not sure who would take over the passing back if he's gone. Obviously BB would be able to fill the void, but Vereen has been pretty solid in my eyes.

ESPN is so thirsty for the pats to have done something wrong because of how hard a ton of their anchors were going against them . dudes look like clowns right now

Vereen isnt getting $5mil ; not a chance . too many other pieces that the Patriots are going to prioritize . Revis , McCourty , Solder , Gostkowski , and Mayo all come before him IMO

Investigation should have been over when it was revealed the refs dont log the PSI before the game. There's no possible way to prove the balls were deflated if there is no starting PSI documented :lol :lol

Now it has come out that the whole thing started because McNally handed a K ball to a ref that was handed to him by an official, because another official stole a ball to sell on the side ? !

The fact we won the Super Bowl and this whole thing was basically a set up and is about to be exposed.... it's just too ******* perfect.

Also, Jerry Rice coming out and admitting he cheated throughout his career was also too perfect. No rings since Stickumgate. Amirite ?!

:hat :hat

All I remember is Mark Brunell nearly coming to tears on my television, Jerome Bettis and Brian Dawkins talking about how disappointed they were that Brady didn't just go ahead and confess, Bob Kravitz writing that BB needs to be suspended, Colts fans petitioning for the Patriots to be removed from the Super Bowl and a game between the Colts and Ravens be played to determine the new AFC Champion and the general public and national media lashing out against the Patriots, calling them cheaters and saying all of their accomplishments are now tarnished, all based on a leak that wasn't even accurate from Chris Mort :{

I don't even want to bring up how many deflated ball jokes from friends and family I heard in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl :|

Like Bill Simmons said the only media on espn coming at the pats heavy took some cold Ls to them :rollin

I really hate how espn manufactures stories these days. Like they totally reach and turned Mortenson from a professional reporter to a certified clown. It's sad dude sold out for a dollar. Can't blame him but he has been ******* up a lot lately

shane wants $5M? love the dude but no thanks...outside of 12, gronk, and jules...revolving door on offense for the most part at RB and WR.

i get it though. and he won a chip. was a team guy while here. if wants to get paid, totally get it

The whole "Ballghazi" thing felt like a witch hunt from the beginning. A bunch of incriminating leaks with zero context trickling out in the middle of an investigation and during SuperBowl week? It's made even more ridiculous by the fact that most of those initial "reports" ended up being wrong and redacted :rolleyes. Proud as hell that the team overcame all those distractions and got the job done. Can't wait for it to finally end.

Yea that's way too much and hopefully just wishful thinking. The only teams I could see offerring him that would have to be teams like the Jags or Raiders. Hopefully both sides can work it out but if not,it's been real Shane. He was a key contibutor during a lot of key moments but I'm sure they'd be fine without him.

If he ends up leqaving,what are the chances off maybe James White stepping up in his place? I remember he was getting great reviews during training camp but all but dissappeared during the season :lol. Either him or they can find a replacement in the draft.

Also with the Combine starting tomorrow,what are you guys thinking about draft needs this year? Aside from the obvious picks(OL,DL/DT) I wouldn't mind seeing them pick up a RB with how deep the position is this year. Even TE/WR would be welcome by me. If someone like Gurley or DGB were to miraculously drop to 32,they should definitely pounce. If not I'm also really big fan of the U's Duke Johnson. He's a big and powerful back that would be a perfect fit for the offense. In the event of Vereen bouncing,Ameer Abdullah from Nebraska could also be interesting since he has pretty good hands and explosiveness.

Come to think about it,some more safety depth also wouldn't hurt since we still don't know what's up with D-Mac.

honestly -- based on how Amendola played towards the end of the season warrants him staying IMO . he really stepped his game up and was a critical part of the team throughout the entire playoff run . he actually the highest avg YAC of any player ; dudes on Seattle couldn't catch him . i think for the most part , the Pats should try and keep as many pieces from this team to stay as possible . there aren't too many spots that are tremendous needs , there is more of an issue of depth . Shane though -- bruh with the amount of other players we need to sign you can take a hike asking for 5mil/yr . lets see what James White's got

After seeing BB and Rex walking into the combine together it reminded me how tough Buffalo is going to be this year :{

Games are probably going to play out like both of the Jets games did this year. I can see Buffalo stealing one though if they get some decent QB play.

are you expecting them to be significantly better this year than last because of Rex ? i dont

So Hightower's expected to be sidelined 6-7 months to recover from his surgery,this might have big implications in regards to Mayo's contract since this seems to put all the leverage back in his corner in the case of restructuring negotiations. To think that he played the SB and made that crucial tackle on Lynch before the pick all on 1 arm. Tank

Maybe not significantly better overall, but I do expect them to play the Patriots tougher because of Rex, for sure.

i'm absolutely loving that we'll kick off the new season and watch the 4th SB banner being raised up in gillette

hopefully we'll get a good matchup for that opening game... philly? pittsburgh? because, dude, our home games are really underwhelming

hope we don't get the repeated lame matchup that we got vs oakland coming off our 3rd SB win.. even though they played decent. it's all about the plot, hype, big names, etc.... kerry collins isn't cutting it
laugh.gif

Although that indy game coming off our 2nd SB win was a damn classic. so much awesomeness... willie with that huge sack of manning followed with vanderjerk doing what he does the best, WIDE RIGHT
roll.gif

home games:  Buffalo, Miami, NY Jets, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Washington, Pittsburgh.

away games: Buffalo, Miami, NY Jets, Houston, Indianapolis, Dallas, NY Giants, Denver

the away games are juicy as hell... indy for obvious reasons, the g-men, and of course denver especially with manning, and dallas (but you never know with them,  could suddenly retort back to its 8-8 heydays)

the houston game could be tricky... JJ watt wreaking havoc on the OL and brady
frown.gif

I won't be surprised if we run the table for our home games. i'm not counting the eggs before they hatch; i'm just saying
laugh.gif

oh yeah, forgot to add, houston always plays us tough down there... '03, and that terrible wes inury in '09 finale which we lost, and again last year with brady/gronk comin thru.

imma try my hardest to grab tix for the kickoff... prices are gonna be stupid and everyone's gonna be wanting to go especially with the weather being nice and for other obvious reasons. would be sweet as hell though
