***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

peyton manning is 2-8 at new england with 18 TDs & 22 interceptions

it doesn't mean that much, but just sayin - he might not have a great game on sunday even with the rejuvenation of being on a great denver team

i have a feeling this trend wont continue on Sunday night :lol

i will say though that i am more confident in our defense than the general public in this spot . it also helps that the weather forecast is a high of 29/low of 16 . Peyton is *** in cold weather

That trend might not continue either

  • Over the course of his career, Peyton Manning has performed under his career averages when playing in cold weather at 40 degrees F or colder. His career QB Rating stands at 96.8. With this sample size of 20 games (which represent about 8% of all games he's played) Peyton's QB Rating when the temperature is at or below 40 degrees F is 83.5 or 13.3 points lower.
  • Peyton Manning has fared a bit better when the temperature is 30 F - 40 F. His QB Rating is 87.7 which is 9.1 points lower than his career average.
  • He has done far worse when the temperature is below 30 F. His QB Rating of 76.7 puts him 20.1 points lower than his career average.
  • 90% of these games have been played on the road and his record in these away games is similar to the NFL average of 70.6% teams that finished at .500 or worse on the road over the course of the last five years.
  • In his last 8 games under these frigid conditions, Peyton Manning has performed ABOVE his career averages, registering a 105.5 QB Rating (11.3 points above his career average).

heading out to the bar to grab a spot and watch the game with my parents. hoping we show up and stick it to the broncos tonight. let's go :hat

so proud of this team. from that first half debaucle to recover and DOMINATE in the second half...unreal. HUGE character win.

tom ******g brady :hat

our defense in the second half stepped up (30,290,301 rushing yards aside). put peyton in the corner.

:hat

Tommy boy took a S**T on Manning and the Broncos...sorry i'm still jacked since all my friends and most fam is anti Pats...really wish my gym was 24 hours on sundays

i'll be back tomorrow with comentary when i've calmed down

what a comeback last night. that first half was ridiculous...second half was just about perfect.

defense obviously shut down peyton. i'm not sure if they were just giving them the run or if they just legit got gashed, but it actually worked out well because peyton rarely felt the need to throw. and when he did, he wasn't too effective at all. second half defense was awesome. dominant. talib played well again. arrington on welker was pretty good. jaime collins awesome game. logan ryan had the HUGE INT at the start of the fourth.

offense. the fumbles...jesus christ. ridley has a problem. it's almost cut worthy. blount got nailed in the head and likely conked out for a couple seconds which is why he dropped it, so i can't blame him too much. brady got hit by von from behind after von beat solder clean. nothing you can do there. second half was awesome. brady was on target most of the game despite the wind and conditions. edelman AWESOME game. he was the man last night. nice return as well. shane vareen has been brady's safety valve in his two games back. that one drop was awful, but he played well overall. gronk was gronk.

deion sanders post game was so on point. what makes brady so great is the adaptability. weather conditions, situational football, game plan...doesn't matter. he adapts and can win despite any of that. you saw it last night...throwing into that wind. not phased at all. we've seen it in snow. rain. CP has harped on how brady has won with different schemes and styles of play. really is what makes the guy one of the best.

we're in a great spot with that win, especially after losing to carolina last week. 8-3 now...with the rest of the division 5-6 or under. we've got houston, miami, buffalo, cleveland, and baltimore left...not in that order. but we're in great shape. offense is humming. defense holding it down despite those killer injuries. feels good, man :hat

what a great performance in the 2nd half . the poise to come back ... i still cant really believe we won that game

edelman showed why hes my favorite patriot . dude is such an x factor and provides so many different things for the squad

you forgot to mention what a great game Dane Fletcher had . towards the end , he was the defensive play caller and did a great job of getting everyone where they needed to be . to me it seemed like the game plan was definitely designed around giving up the run and not letting peyton beat us in the air . at the end of the day it worked perfectly

the call to give Peyton the ball at the beginning of OT will go down as one of the biggest moments/coaching decisions in Belichicks legacy

you're 100% right man...lot of credit to dane fletcher. he was awesome. i didn't realize it was his head that forced that fumble by ball. and then like you said, he was calling the signals and getting guys in the right position down the stretch.

and that call to give peyton the ball in OT. it worked out. but man, i still have a hard time thinking it's the right move. there a couple QB's in the league that you just don't give extra chances to if you can avoid doing so...and they both happened to be on that field sunday night. even with the conditions, those two QB's can put TD drives together like no other. peyton wasn't effective at all for most of the night, but why tempt fate :lol

but it worked and given the circumstances appeared to be the right move at the end of the day. it's what makes belichick one of the greatest coaches.

we signed 2010 Mackey Award winning TE DJ Williams today. minimal production in the GB offense, so not sure what he'll offer us :lol

hes a better option than Mulligan , and it seems the Hooman might be out for a while ...

didnt realize this until earlier today , but Dobson wasnt targeted once all game . pretty surprising given how he's been playing the past few weeks

got to remember the thing about being a target is how the D is playing said player

he might have been a first option on a given play and defender(s) just had his number

a game like sunday is not when you want Tommy forcing balls.........unless it's to THE Gronk which i'm okay with :D

pretty sad about Hooman as i thought his production in the blocking game was good thus far

status reports :

Dobson and Hooman havent practiced all week and will most definitely be OUT for the game on Sunday . Dennard missed practice yesterday , but made practice on Wed and is back on the field today

Hightower and Sopoaga were both at practice all week after not playing much of the 2nd half against the Broncos

Gregory finished up last week at practice and has been present on a Limited basis all week . with the way Harmon has been playing it may be safe to rest him for another week

itll also be interesting to see if the newly signed TE DJ Williams gets any snaps this Sunday

interesting with Dobson. guess he got hurt early last week? i don't recall seeing him on the field after warm ups at all...so wondering how many snaps he even got last week. hopefully it's nothing serious because we will need him in december and the playoffs.

dennard back would be a big boost, but ryan and arrington have done well in his absence. i'm with you on gregory. let him rest. i'm not a big gregory fan to begin with.

Dobson played the whole 1st half , but only had around 5 snaps in the 2nd

regarding that 2nd safety spot , it depends on what youre into and what offense we are going against . Harmon is better in coverage , but Gregory is much better against the run and also had the role of defensive play caller in Mayo's absence
