***OFFICIAL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS SEASON THREAD*** (13-4) - Patriots @ Broncos - Sun 3:05PM EST - Bra

defense A+ ******* effort today. outstanding :hat

offense C...would have loved to see more flow and consistency. they did put up points off turnovers which was good.

ahem. solid *** win today boys. brady and offense still are outta sync. not really worried-see last year. I have confidence they'll get offense rolling sooner than later. Edelman has been basically our offense
laugh.gif
it was literally all Julian today with sprinkles of gronk and a drop of Dobson for the passing game and a healthy dose of ridley and a bit of vereen today for the run game
grin.gif
. Saw that they used 6 OL for most of the game. We didn't have a huge success but it was good enough. I was semi semi worried about the game today especially after the Vikings first possession but pats deaded that concern not too long after.
pimp.gif
chandler jones, a block then return for the TD just before the half showing that 4.4 speed
laugh.gif
but seriously he turned on the jets though! Amendola has been seriously MIA holy crap. But eventually IMO we'll need his production and I think he'll show up later in the year once our Offense gets the ball rolling (see last year once gronk was in midseason form which translated same thing for our offense). I think our passing game improves with more reps/games as the season goes along, same for the OL gaining more confidence and gets their bearings back. Would have loved mankins being part of this because he's the unquestioned leader and the gritty veteran. But it is what it is and I think we will adapt and today was a good start. Cheers boys on the first W of the year, I know it's a week late but hey better than 0-2!!

of course how could I forget, heck of a performance by the defense. That's what I want. Picking up the slack. Logan Ryan was the man in secondary today. Glad BB drafted him.

at McCourty for not punching in the TD after that sweet pick. Friggin dive bro. But ridley made it up couple of plays later though so all is forgiven.

Pats must be leading the league in penalty yrds - or close

15 penalties for 163 yards today
9 penalties for 100 yards last week

just checked out espnboston and it confirmed my belief that thompkins didn't play. he was inactive. semi surprised. its because of lafell's contributions on STs which knocked him out. I truly think once we get in sync offensively and those WRs we have get more comfortable and they all will contribute at different points of the season or in a game even. All of them have their own skillsets and I'd love to see them all on the field on once with gronk in his midseason form. I was just thinking about an empty backfield with Edelman and Amendola in the slot on both sides and Dobson/Thompkins split wide with Gronk in his usual spot
pimp.gif

Then mix up the personnel subbing with Wright/Vereen/Ridley/Bolden/Hooman/White (who hasn't even suited up yet). We have lots of versatility in this offense. We will and usually improve as the season goes and figure it out.

i think mcdaniels needs to rethink some of his playcalling a bit. i get that with the big lead, we want to run the ball and play a bit of clock control. but with the offense not really showing much flow, give them a chance to find it. little run happy and conservative yesterday. again, there was no need to really show out, but i want to know if we can cruise down the field at will. maybe it's them not trying to run up the score and all (sounds weird to say that) in the 4th qtr, but a lot of points were left on the field by the offense yesterday.

great win for the Pats :smokin

a lot more synergy on the defensive side . other than some blown assignments in the first drive , they did a tremendous job

offense still has a lot of work to do . better O line play for sure , but there are still clearly a lot of concerns . that boy Cannon needs to stop getting so many damn penalties :|

ridley had a great game . you can tell he's way more conscious of where and how hes holding the football when he runs

Good point, but Bill has not known to 'let off' the pedal.  Don't think anyone in the NFL does.  I'm glad to see the running game going tho.  I agree though, the team has yet to reach that 'fluidness' in terms of coming back to win, or needing to put up a quick score.  I don't think there's any doubt that the offense still has MUCH ROOM for improvement.

The Football Gods blessed the Pats this pass weekend. The deactivation of AP. The game would of been alot closer.

^ I know right. We could play the IF game all day long all season long. Nah.

Hey y'all fellow pats fans, I got a Q for you. We've been blessed with lots of solid teams throughout BB era. So besides the '01-03-04 teams, what was your favorite pats squad?

I think the'07 team is obviously no brainer and is pretty much the favorite for most?

But I would pick the '10 pats. So much awesomeness in that year. Brady's 2nd MVP while sporting that flowing locks hippie of a hair

We didn't have a great D but it was an opportunistic defense making up for the yards gained on us. It was a young D but a growing one. McCourty had himself a fine rookie season

as a CB. Offensively we didn't turn the ball over like ever, 6 or 7 consecutive games without a turnover
sick.gif
eek.gif
and totaled only 10 turnovers in the season. Think about that for  a second. Of course the immortal Brady 335 consecutive passes without an INT and ended up with a ridiculous 36 TDs to just 4 Ints.  Gronk/Hernandez as rookies
pimp.gif
 addition of Danny Woodhead
pimp.gif
The return of deion branch and he was huge in his first game back vs Baltimore
pimp.gif
And Moss was whining about getting new deal and causing distraction until BB finally had enough and shipped him off to Minny. Oh no?! No more bona fide WR? No problem. It took us a couple of weeks to fine tune the offense and we just took off from there. After that disaster of a loss to Cleveland, we reeled off 8 consecutive games of 30 plus points to end the season with a 14-2 record. How good was the offense? Considering it never turned over the ball, and it operated with the efficiency better than '07 team, we rattled off games with scores of:

After a loss to Cleveland:

39-26 over Pittsburgh, 31-28 over Indy, 45-24 over Detroit on Thanky (Brady perfect passing rating
pimp.gif
), 45-3 over NYJ (I was there and my balls were frozen
sick.gif
pimp.gif
), 36-7 over Chicago in the blizzard, 31-27 over Green Bay, 34-3 over Buffalo and then the season finale 38-7 over Miami. Dat efficiency

I had such high hopes for the playoffs. That came to a screeching halt once Brady threw his first pick in over 335 passes on the first drive vs Jets in the divisional and they smelled the blood
indifferent.gif
They flooded the middle of the field which made Brady uneasy and not as decisive.

Thoughts and feedbacks are welcome. I liked the '11 and '12 seasons as well in their own rights and rest of the other seasons too. Some more so than others and so forth.  Each season had its up and downs and its own imprints, ya know. '13 was different and tough but I was proud as hell considering what we had to deal with so I couldn't ask for a better effort. Tough luck with Wilfork, Gronk, Mayo, Seabass/etc injuries and not to mention welker leaving and of course the infamous arrest of Hernandez. And the result?  Still a double digit wins with a 12-4 season and a bye

Hoping for a better result this year and bring that elusive 4th Lombardi back home!!!! #patsnation

no it wouldnt have . AP isnt worth more than a point or two in Vegas

'10 team was great . the highlight for me was when we annihilated the Jets in week 13

I say game would of been closer because if AP played. cassel wouldnt have 4 picks. maybe 1-2. but not 4

2010 was definitely a great season but I'd still say that the most memorable season for me has to be 2011. The offense was a well oiled machine with the Gronk + #81 TE combo combining for 169 receptions, 2,237 yards, and 24 touchdowns
sick.gif
smokin.gif
and Brady throwing for 5k+ yards and 39 TD's 12 int's with a 105 qb rating (with Branch and Ochocinco as his deep threats)
pimp.gif
. The team also had a balanced rushing attack with the law firm,Woody and also rookie Vereen and Ridley scoring td's consistently.

The D gave up a ton of yards and the secondary was terrible
sick.gif
but they got turnovers and didn't give up too many points. They also had that luck that championship teams usually have with Billy Cundiff and Lee Evans bailing us out in that AFC title game. All seemed destined for a 4th Lombardi until Bernard Pollard's punk *** decided to fulfill his lifelong mission of sabotaging the Pats SB chances by taking out Gronk
mean.gif
ohwell.gif
. He wasn't the same dude that had just set the nfl record for td's in a season for a TE against the Giants
tired.gif
. Of course Eli Manning channeling Joe Montana's spirit once again didn't help out one bit
indifferent.gif
. Gotta admit that the throw to Manningham is still probably one of the greatest throws I've ever seen..and by Eli frickin Manning...
sick.gif
mean.gif
. There's also Brady who could've also helped us out with a better throw to Welker at the end but nothing was the same after that injury to Gronk

.

All and all the season was filled with some of the greatest highs mixed with the most devastating lows,it's one of my fav seasons.

Nice work boys :hat Reps all around.

Its giving me a hard on to see this thread so active.

Idk what my favorite year was, all I know is that i took those Super Bowls forgranted as a youngin :(

I figured theyd always be in contention. And they have been. But i would LITERALLY sacrifice my left nut to see Brady and BB hoist that Lombardi.

My man (cue denzel .gif here) Brady was on fire to begin the season with a 500 yard outing in the opener and then ripped san diego in the 2nd game of the home opener with 400 plus yards (900 plus yards in 2 games)
pimp.gif
Gronk was just gronklicious that year beasting everyone. A breakout year for him. We saw how truly great he would be/was. IMO Rob Gronkowski is the best TE I've ever seen in my life. srs. He is the complete tight end. Sure, Graham is as explosive as much as him if not more but even he said it himself that he's more of a WR (in a TE body). Rob mauls *** blocking and is a terror after the catch and his TD per game is top notch in NFL history. Sighs, I just hope he comes close to where he was before and don't suffer any more major injury(ies) because god knows theres so much his body can take

And as for the offense, ocho cinco didn't do squat. he was an afterthought which was a huge disappointment considering that we had high hopes for him producing when we got him in the preseason. ugh. His feeble mind couldn't process our offense (to be fair veteran joey Galloway couldn't too but still). And Branch as our deep threat?
sick.gif
laugh.gif
bro his knees are/was shot and it showed in '11 as opposed to '10. But he was definitely serviceable nonetheless. Hernandez had himself a breakout year too but was hugely shadowed by Gronk's and had huge games when the D was focused on stopping Gronk. I remember he was great in the Denver game with tebow late in the year and then again in the divisional blowout, rushing and receiving

Ugh the Super Bowl. Of course. Brady could've delivered a better pass but Wes usually caught tough passes and it was practically routine for him. Just

and yes that eli manning pass. I agree, one of the best passes ever. right on the money. What are the chances that the lighting strikes in the same place not once but twice
