Im not disagreeing with you with most of this. Yes the Seahawks over the course Russell's rookie contract had alot more flexibility in how money was spent. I dont know who's acting like nothing's changed, I havent seen it
Several teams are paying their QB $20M... Its just going to more difficult for the Seahawks to keep that historic defense and depth now that Russ is making that much. I don't care if the Cap went up... The other players looking for dough know that too and will seek contracts accordingly.
No matter how you slice it, having a QB like Russ at $650k simply doesn't happen hardly ever. They had a huge advantage over the rest of the NFL by having one of the best QB's playing below Vet Min.
I'm not saying they're going to turn into the Jags overnight. But some Hawks fans acting like nothings changed.
Like 10027 mentioned, Seattle has already dealt with key losses in some players, that's going to happen but with mostly everyone signed thru the next few years there isnt much of a reason Hawks fans to be biting their nails right now...When everyone has a chance to re-up again that was a bridge they were gonna have to cross regardless.
Depth is still going to have to come in the way of the draft, it's the only way to truly maintain I think we all know this
