Well...

The OG argument of Jimmy vs. Gronk...was between me and you. So you already know I'm gonna remember.

You said back then Jimmy was the better overall TE. I strongly disagreed. I talked about the one undisputed thing that separates Gronk from Jimmy in this post. Blocking.

And then...

Gronk is "clearly" a better blocker, says who?
I saw him last week blocking against Carolina, and his shoulder isn't even right yet. But he's still in there. And he was blocking fine. But Gronk is "clearly" better? Why, because he blocks on PAT's?
And one more for good measure

How is Gronk's blocking sooooo much better than Jimmy's?

If you feel like taking a trip through memory lane, scroll around through that thread I linked and you'll see it all. It's been going on since then.

Sometimes old age brings on Alzhemier's so this wouldn't be the right time for me to crack jokes. We all understand, chief.

I simply asked then why it was such a slam dunk case. But I agree today Gronk is the better blocker.

I merely argued he wasn't the pushover people try to claim. "His blocking isn't as deficient as they claim".

I pointed out the Saints usage of him (and his teammates) even back then.

I ain't that old yet, despite what NT tells ya.

Yeah...you've been consistent with the whole usage bit. You also said this when the convo got rehashed at a later time...

When people credit Gronk for blocking, that's knocking Jimmy for something his team doesn't require him to do, same as Gronk fans don't give him credit for lining up all over the field.
I mean, it was still wrong, but at least you said it in a different way.

If we're being fair, I should bring that up too.

But anyways, I just sat back this time and read y'all posts because I feel like I laid it all out during the OG discussion. I don't think I can come up with a better argument and IMO it still stands today.

I'm just being a **** head with the Alzhemier's thing. Light jabs all day, you know me.

...

Trust me though...you're good w/ me for a long, long time since I remember how you called the Welker thing early, even when everyone else was trying to **** on you for that. Same goes for Tom Brady. Those arguments went on forever, and even though its diminished in recent years, there were times when the majority of S&T had an overwhelmingly strong opinion or just plain stupid stance on dude...you never let up on him. And you came out of that one right, too.

(I've gone back this week for ***** and giggles just to see what people used to say. You would laugh now...)

If I'm gonna respect the consistency and your stubbornness, it's gotta be when you're dead wrong too.

 That's how it should work.

Good **** man. :hat

I get people think I'm full of crap, or Homer, whatever, but I don't make my calls off ESPN or someone else's playbook. I watch, read, and judge on my own. I could try using things like "I bet majority of GM's would choose Reed over Jimmy with both 100%" and pass that off as a "fact". :lol

Only fact I know is in the 2015 season Reed > Jimmy and Jimmy has declined in yards and TDs the last 3 years.

I think more teams would take the ascending younger player over the declining older one. We'll see how it plays out moving forward.

If I've seen him say youth > age once, I've seen it a hundred times.

Absolutely. For building for the future. 100%.

Jimmy is 29. He's not dead. :lol

And Reed having two good years doesn't make him a better TE. That's hot take central. If Jimmy comes back healthy next year and balls, does he flip back over or something? :lol

Randy Moss in Oakland, dud.
Randy Moss in NE, historic.

You don't just write him off cuz he's missed 6 games and Reed has a solid 6. Christ, Reed is one bump away from retiring. He been hurt more than anybody. :lol

They'll let it breathe for a full season imo if the recovery comes along as expected. They traded the No. 31 and Max Unger for him. Unless there's actually even more to the Graham/offense issues off the field from early in the season than what was reported about it, I think you have to at least honor your investment somewhat. Need to know what the outcome of that decision was rather than erase it before anything's completely known. Media's already coming at the trade a little bit but at least honor the investment/decision you've made by seeing it out somewhat to make a better, sound decision ya know?

Saw Unger T-3 in offensive snap % this year: 99.8%, handful at 99.9 and 100.0 but that's a fine cut. :lol

No way Graham isn't a seahawks this season coming up

Yeah he's gonna stay put.

Seattle will be better off with Rawls over Lynch IMO. I feel as if they need a true WR1; Baldwin showed growth this season but they would be a good look with a Megatron 8o , Alshon or maybe even a gamble on Josh Gordon.

I think it's time for them to move on from Marshawn

Alshon is about to be paid, Josh Gordon is the best bang for the buck

Jimmy should be our WR1 type.  I don't want to spend more in the area—we have a weird but reasonably productive group of pass catchers with Graham, Baldwin, Kearse, and now Lockett.

Biggest thing is resigning Kearse, resigning Irvin, hopefully being able to afford Okung and building up the line.  We don't have a ton of money but Lynch retiring (I hope) will help.

Hawks fans and their attitude in Bevell reminds me of myself with Haley a few years ago
laugh.gif
Well we can only hope it works out the same way

It's not that Bevell is incapable of putting together a productive, explosive offense (because we've been that at many times over the past few years).  It's just his playcalling and conservatism that have shot us in the foot over and over.  We only play with urgency on offense when we're behind.

I don't think I can ever watch another drive where we're up by one and go 1. run up the middle for no gain  2.  bubble screen to doug baldwin for no gain  3.  Long pass attempt with RW immediately scrambling from the interior pass rush.

Yeah the way the Hawks play from behind should show that opening it up does work. Again similar to Haley and his distaste for the deep ball at first. But he saw it works with Ben and they definitely incorporate it more now
