OFFICIAL NFL THREAD 2024-25: Week IX Vol: TNF

None, but to give up on a project Top 5 pick after 10 starts is mismanagement.
Have to take into account also his play/where they're at in the wild card/and the possibility of losing his teammates respect. It's not just giving up on him. I mean they win that game they're tied with Houston for the lead in the division.

QB’s are held to a different standard.

But its hard for me to be mad at him. Wasn’t he 20 when he got drafted? and he didnt even play that many games…the scouting report had all these flags, with tremendous upside…let the young man learn. I absolutely agree that he should sit and learn to be a pro and go down the other AR path. the talent is absolutely there.

The Bryce Young situation feels different than this IMO.

doing things the right way :hat

Realistically you go 0-4, maybe 1-3, find yourself out of playoff contention, but also out of range of a high draft pick. In addition your Top 5 draft pick that you’ve benched, has gotten no reps, yet is probably rated higher than any QB coming out of this years draft.

I think it's definitely an overreaction if it's just that one play to bench a guy for the rest of the season. idc how rare it is for a QB to do it

This is his 10th game.

but I don't believe it's just that one play that's causing the faith to be lost in AR5. It's either his work behind the scenes isn't up to par (and on field play obviously not up to par to add) or Shane is not wanting to wait on one of the rawest QB's prospects to develop enough to win games now

I truly believe CJ Stroud has ruined QB expectations for QBs in his draft class and going forward. Richardson was as raw as a meat factory (pause) entering the draft. For the Colts to think he would change within a half a season is unrealistic. His comp was Josh Allen, who in his own first three years in the league was a bottom 1/3 QB in the league until he developed. I get his on the field play was poor, but he missed just about majority of his rookie season. This is his rookie season.

Teams never want to embrace the tank. They always get scared. You aren’t going to win a superbowl with Flacco. So you are in the purgatory. Either play Richardson and see how he pans out or rank so bad you get a top pick

True about Josh

I'd blame front offices for looking at CJ and then ruining their own franchises tbh

Coaches have short leases with erratic ownership behind them which then in turn makes HCs gives short leashes to young QBs.

I was scared af the Seahawks would take AR5 but if you're gonna take that guy that is labeled a project then you kinda should give the project more than 10 games and more than a head tap idk that's just me though

Richardson’s draft profile was always a project QB. So I don’t think the benching is as damning as it’s being made out to be. He’ll get another shot at the job but he clearly needs to get back in the lab. He’s not ready.

It’s not just the FO and coaching staff. The Colts locker room is definitely looking at the division and seeing they got a shot at winning it. Anything can happen in the playoffs. Just have to make it there and Flacco gives them the best shot.

Bills and Jets are winnable games…

Don't think colleges have been doing a bang up job either

College coaches jobs are to win games, not develop players. Hence, a good portion of them run basic, RPO type offenses. It is easy to teach and scheme and is familiar from what they probably ran in high school.

American football doesn’t have a real player development framework at any level.

To the extent that it does, it leans way to heavily into various forms of privatized and limited 1-on-1 training - think personal trainers and camps.
