I would not part with Johnson, hell no.

The Kings are stacked, and getting better with this core right now, they are built for the coming years.

The price tag for Kovalchuk is too high.

Kovalchuk and Kopitar on the same team?

Maybe the same LINE in playoff spots?

Christ... hand them the cup if true...
Affair Has Flyers Locker Room Split?
This one is out of the bizarre rumor mill, however, a credible source told "thephillyfour" a possible affair could be the reason the Flyers locker room appears to be split this season.

According to the source Jeff Carter had an affair with Scott Hartnell's wife and the entire locker room is split over the situation.

If this is true the question must be asked, could a trade of one of the two players be the only remedy for such a problem?

Also in other Flyers Wives gossip, Danny Brierre is rumored to be close to getting a divorce with his wife.

Too bad for Tiger Woods no one cares about hockey, this story could get just as ugly.

Update:
According to Ryan Bright, a beat writer for the Philadelphia Flyers, this rumored affair "is a complete fabrication." [He also runs the excellent Flyers blog, Phila.Bright]

Boy Carey Price is a rahtard. Pikka's shot was going over the net and dude nonchalantly tried to catch it but just tipped it. Not knowing where it was hebacked up into the net and the puck dropped behind him and he kicked it in. He has all the talent in the world to be a really good goalie but it just seamssometimes that he has no clue whats going on. Either way big win for the Devils as they keep rolling along.

What do you guys think of the NHL having a second outdoor game in Canada starting next year?

IMO, having the outdoor game on New Years eve, in famous stadiums/ballparks in the US, really put people to watch and enjoy hockey, where otherwise, theywouldn't.
The Bruins' big-name targets
The http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=bosBoston Bruins have been searching for a scorer for the past few weeks, but as Puck Prospectus writes, they may not have the assets.

Still, trade rumors around abound and CSN speculated on same players who might end up in Boston.

An unlikely -- but possible -- target is Anaheim's Bobby Ryan, who is still negotiating his extension with the Ducks. But the price tag here would be very high.

As we previously wrote, Ilya Kovalchuk is also an option but this would take a lot of work to make it work. Kovy is demanding something in the range of $100 million over 10 years -- something the Bruins cannot afford unless they send away several big contracts.

Alex Tanguay is also a possibility, as the buzz is that he's a bad fit in Tampa, and CSN says it's a 5-to-1 possibility.

The best option might be Ray Whitney, as the Carolina Hurricanes continue to dump salary. CSN writes, "The 37-year-old Whitney is perhaps the perfect rental player for the Bruins this season."

[h5]Puck Prospectus[/h5]
They've got no cap space
"Add forwards? How? The reason Boston couldn't keep talented, young Phil Kessel (14.6 GVT as a 21 year old)-- who is significantly better than any player they could pick up now -- was because the Bruins were already capped out, with too much salary allocated to mediocre forwards such as Patrice Bergeron ($5 million, 2.4 GVT last season) and Murco Sturm ($3.5 million, 3.8 GVT last season). It's nice to wish to talk about adding a major piece, but it would require shedding a similar chunk of salary first. If Peter Chiarelli can find takers for his some of his underachievers, he should jump on it, as the Bruins need to get significantly more efficient up front." -Timo Seppa

The New York Rangers might fire GM Glen Sather tomorrow, if the Rangers lose tonight against the New York Islanders.

This is according to Craig Carton on WFAN with Boomer Esiason, who said the source is "very reliable," (via Hendrick's Hockey).

There has long been talk of Sather being fired, but the Rangers' recent struggles might push chairman James Dolan to make the change, given that they are last in the Atlantic Division after Wednesday's loss to the Islanders.

[h5]Ilya Kovalchuk | Thrashers[/h5]

The list is long, and growing: Who is going to land Ilya Kovalchuk if he doesn't sign an extension with the Thrashers?

The latest trade idea has Kovalchuk going to the Boston Bruins for a handful of assets. ESPN.com's John Buccigross writes that a potential trade might have Kovalchuk going to Boston for Blake Wheeler, Tuukka Rask and the 2010 first round pick they received from Toronto for Phil Kessel.

Buccigross said the deal would work if Kovalchuk agrees to an extension in the range of nine-years for $63 million, but the rumored asking price has been for much more money. So unless the Bruins figure out their money situation, this may not work.

The Philadelphia Flyers may also be interest, as well as the Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames, though Calgary GM Mike Gillis' denied the rumors. The Kings are reportedly willing to part with http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=2288Dustin Brown, but it will take more to get Kovalchuk to Hollywood.

These rumors jive with what USA Today's Kevin Allen reported last week. He wrote, "If the Thrashers can't get a deal done, I'm aware of at least two Western Conference contenders who will make a strong pitch."

The KHL might also swoop in with a huge deal.

And Mueller was also almost traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, but the Leafs didn't have enough assets to send back the Phoenix, the Ottawa Sun writes. That said, there may be more offers coming for Mueller, and Phoenix might finally be able to work something out.

The Rangers wanted to send minor league defenseman Bobby Sanquinetti to the Coyotes, but Phoenix wanted either http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=3323Brandon Dubinsky or http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=3331Ryan Callahan -- and GM Glen Sather stalled. It could still happen, but it doesn't appear Sather's going to give in.

This would've been the Rangers' attempt at finding a scorer, while it would've been the Coyotes' way of getting rid of a problem player. Mueller is reportedly not fitting in well with new Coyotes coach http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=4354http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=4354http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=4354http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=4354Dave Tippett, so he was a candidate to be on the move, ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun reported.

Another possible trade has him going to the http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=vanhttp://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=vanVancouver Canucks for http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=2396http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=2396Shane O'Brien, who has also been on the block. This is according to the Hockey Insider.

LeBrun added on CBC's Hockey Night in America that he didn't think management wanted to dump Mueller but his poor relationship with Tippett might push GM Don Maloney to pull the trigger if a deal is offered.

In good company
"Peter Mueller is one of only five teenaged rookies to score at least 50 points since the lock-out. The others? Sidney Crosby, Patrick Kane, Anze Kopitar and Jonathan Toews. Barring a fluke season, the 21-year-old is clearly capable of more than the 36 points he put up last season, or the four he's scored so far this year." -Robert Vollman

Now, the Philadelphia Daily News writes that Scott Hartnell and Jeff Carter might also be dealt soon.

Something is in the works, because ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun reports that GM Paul Holmgren has been working the phones pretty hard the last few days.

One player who probably won't be dealt, however, is 21-year-old http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?playerId=3775Claude Giroux.

I don't even think I'd want that deal anyway, unless the Bruins could land the extension. Two top young players + a third in the pick for a rental/oneshot at a cup isnt worth it.

I dont think a second outdoor game is needed. Its something you look forward to because its only once a year. Kinda like a blowey if your married. In allseriousness I dont think its a good idea.

Kotalik and Redden will be benched for tonights game. Tortorella is fed up with them apparently and is trying to spark the team.

I'm hearing rumors that Glen Sather will be fired if the Rangers lose tonight on Long Island... If this is true, I will be the biggest Islander fan evertonight...
