How in the world can the determine if you did or didn't use a bot. Maybe they just over sold them and people are looking for excuses.

Simple.

Bots basically fill all your info in and checks you out instantly.  No human hand can successfully check out in 5 seconds.  So I'm pretty sure if they get orders within the first 5 seconds they know it's not from a human and will cancel it.
