Weapon of Choice for SFM... LunarSwifts

Incoming Wall-o-Text

Overall, I had a total of 18 Training days to prepare for my first race, which was a BIG HELP. I knew when and where to expect the landmarks and mile markers. I know it sounds weird, especially, for runners, but I RARELY time myself. I only timed myself maybe twice during my training runs haha just to get a ballpark of my finishing time. Originally, I told myself I'd be content with a sub-4, but, today, I felt REAL GOOD. I took advise from my runner friends and fam, ate a lot of carbs (ie ~35 tator tots and oodles of noodles! haha), and finished at 3:30:26 (unofficial), which isn't too bad for a first race I guess. I kept an ~8:00 pace the whole 26.2, and mfing GUNNED it towards the Finishline. I sped by maybe seven runners, and I honestly don't remember anybody passing me after M20. Most the runners ahead of me earlier in the race seemed to hit the "wall" and fizzled out. Thankfully, I didn't. I felt like I was in autopilot for miles in between M3-M25.

Now it's in the hindsight, I loved the crowd support! People along the way cheering and encouraging you felt ILLY! It felt like they were my second heartbeat to the point where they made me do KG's forceful chest pumps to my left chest, and in turn, they became even louder! The most memorable one I heard was from a cute lady that screamed, "Guy in the yellow shoes, you're rockin' it!". As for rookie mistakes, fortunately, I didn't exert all my energy earlier in the race, but one thing I need to work on is drinking while running. I almost choked during the 1st water station. haha

All in all, my first race was an AMAZING experience, and it's a wonder how the human body can endure excessive wearing and tearing in such events. I'm definitely running another one soon (probably LA). Now that I know how I can handle a FULL, I plan on breaking 3:15 for the next race. This time around I'll train more than just 18 days. THANKS for ALL the ENCOURAGEMENT for the past seveal weeks
