Upgrade to a AM3+ board and cop a AMD "bulldozer" cpu when they come out. And/or cop an AMD 6870 or whatever video card you can afford that performs best in its price range. I'm pretty sure your PSU should be sufficient for all this but check if you decide to do so.

I like it, some of those are a bit cryptic though. Only thing I'd do is wait for the AM3+ boards and go with one of those so you have an upgrade path.

for an OS drive why do you need two 2tb HDD? why not just go with a large SSD
that's a monster build for a first build too.

I need to name files a certain filename and for some reason it keeps saying that filename already exists when there's nothing in that folder with the same name.
there are no hidden files in the folder either.
any ideas?

Yo is AMD winning or something?
With 3k, I wouldve gone Intel.

i just got some g.skill ripjaws this week, how are they working for you?
They are working pretty smooth...i was worried my MB would not recognize them after reading some reviews on sites..but they seem to be holding strong..i have had the computer running
for about 5-6 days straight (with exceptions to quick restarts for updates) and no hiccups yet.
My FPS average on the Heaven Benchmarks are
Max FPS= 105 FPS
Min FPS= 38 FPS
I was a little worried about the X3 Rana 445 and running a GTX 560 with it with the thought of the comp bottlenecking slightly between the CPU/GPU/Memory...but even running on the stock 3 cores
(without unlocking the 4th core) the comp runs really smooth...I have not had any problems yet, graphically or system wise.

Finally got around to building a new desktop setup. My vaio did me well, but its time to put it aside for something more powerful.
