Official PC thread.

Looking at that build and that Antec Earthwatts, make sure you have an extra power cord available, because I bought the 430w and the 380w before and they don't come with it.

Also with the ssd, I have a 64 GB one, All I have installed on there is bf3, maybe 2 other games and I only have 10 gigs left, everything else is on other hds, the the amount of space you have disappears quick.

omgitswes and sole vintage: I am not too familiar with NVIDIA's line up. Is there a NVIDIA graphics card, similar to the AMD 6970, that you all recommend? Thanks in advance!

Periwinkle: I was not aware that it doesn't bring the power cord. Thanks for the heads up!

I looked at a review, it seems this is the only Antec Earthwatts that comes with a power cord, sorry bout that.

GTX 580
I have a 570 with from EVGA and it has no problem playing whatever I throw at it. The 580 is even better

6970 isn't too far behind though, and I think it's a bit cheaper

First, these days I prefer Intel/Nvidia over AMD anyday.. Personal preference and I have had less problems with Intel/Nvidia based machines.
From Nvidia look for the GTX 560, 570 or 580.

560 can't run BF3 with full-graphics, but 570 and 580 can.

Periwinkle: No worries. Either way, I will keep that in mind. I appreciate you looking that up for me!

omgitswes: That's one of the main reasons I went with the 6970, I was able to get it for $319.99. I did a quick search for the GTX 580 and it was around $500 on average (amazon and newegg). Thats a bit out of my current budget. With that said, do you think the 6970 would be able to run games like Skyrim, MW3 and BF3 at max settings with ease? Do you believe that it would be perform well with future games?

Thanks for the help everyone! Much appreciated!

Should run fine. At those prices you could xfire another 6970

My 5870 died a couple days out of warranty -.-

nivdia is also buddy buddy with developers so when they need help with graphic problems nivdia helps them out. the only downside is price

JackieBoy and Sole Vintage: Thanks for the tips! I have 30 days to return the 6970. I will hold out to see if any deals pop up for the 570 and 580. If not, I may just stay with the 6970.

CWrite78: I was planning on xfire in the future. I streamlined my budget for $1,300 (need to pay the mortgage) and I was lucky to get all this under that price.

Definitely the reason why I went for NVIDIA over AMD. My work computer's ATI GPU had driver issues.

Saved myself the headache and got a GTX 560 Ti. It runs BF3 on High without any problems. Framerate drops too much when I try Ultra on it. Couldn't justify spending extra money for a GTX570 or 580... out of my budget.
Too bad my GIGABYTE motherboard only supports Crossfire and not SLI. Oversight on my part.

Hard to find another board that had Dolby Home Theater at that time (for my Astro MixAmp). Oh well. Maybe for the next build or something.

^^^^ Btw, pretty nice rig specs up there. Good price, too.

Can anyone recommend me a desktop for my parents? It'll mainly be used for internet/email, just basic stuff (no gaming or anything). Just need a tower, looking to spend between $300-$400 if possible. I need something reliable though. Thanks guys.
