That is pretty much what I want. If I want no distortion, I'll just go back to the kit lens or get another one.

Well I did it the ghetto way wit my Cannon Rebel XTI
Me and my partner used an old black sheet.
Used this old work light for lighting.
Turned off the lights.
With the help of PS we got this.
Not bad eh? We actually put the camera on automatic then covered the flash with our finger. That's probably why we got a redish glow to the pics.

Man...I dont no $@# about cameras/photography but some of these pictures are
. Im lookin' to get into photography in the near future, what would be a good camera for a noob? Price isnt too much of an issue. Anybody withany info or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

^yeah you can. Zoom into the object. Put a slow shutter speed. And When the picture is being taken zoom out.

1st pic ... not a fan of angles, personally I mean. I guess you wanted to capture the crowd and the TX capitoleum in one to hint towards politicalmobilization in TX ? or something...if so you could have stood further away at a straight angle and capture the people with the dome in the background....butthat's just me. Not a bad pic, just doesn't strike me ..
