or do they sell used ones if so are they any good?
You can get a brand new D40 for around $400. If I was you, I'd wait till the new D3000 starts shipping. Basically the same thing as the D5000 (Big hit due to its D90 like performance) with a 10MP sensor which will give you awesome low light performance, and no tilt screen (3inch LCD instead)

Just googled it and

, when does it release?

Along the same lines, I want some feedback on the differences between the D40 and D60. The difference in price is $100, according to Best Buy. Is it worth it to buy the D60 for a beginner, or just wait and get the D3000 as mentioned above for $599?

Thanks again for all the help.
Wait for the D3000. It's basically a newer version of the D40x but you'll get cool things like a warranty and some other cool stuff. AD40X brand new will run you about $500 with the 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 lens so just wait for the new one to release. As for the D60 v. D40 question, the D60 has 10mpwhile the D40 has 6.1mp...and as a beginner, MPs don't really matter. 6.1mp is fine. I shoot with the D40X with 10mp and I can do 11" x 13"prints on computer paper that are clear as day, so unless you're shooting posters, either will be fine. I'm sure that if you can wait until BlackFriday you'll be able to cop for $400. Otherwise, just wait for the D3000.

As for me, I'm going for the D300s.

Anyone else?

just hit up any local dive shop or underwater photography shop they might have it in stock. or something similar to it.

I'm sure most knew about the D3000(s) but what's up with this P&S, anyone considering ($430)...

I think this can work for certain target group(s) of consumer (not prosumers)... Source and another article

Although it seems kinda gimmicky (and not too mention this ad seems cheesy, "infomercialish"), I still think it's tight and"innovative"...
I'm looking forward to a (i)Phone with built-in projection capabilities, someday.

Quick question. How do I reformat raw pictures into jpeg? I would like to develop them in raw but no one can support that format so they have all told me theycan only do jpeg. Thanks!

File > Save As > File Type: .jpg

^Guess it also depends on which software he is using to import. I use Camera Raw - on the bottom left corner there is an option to save as jpeg.

Recently seen someone post a picture of kites (and I was "inspired"), I like flying kites and did so this past weekend...

What makes this particular kite a little more "special" is that my lady designed it.

I also took this picture below over the weekend, my buddies son, he couldn't decide between the prizes (from the arcade tickets he gathered on theboardwalk)...

Life decisions...
