So much of US politics is groups of people trying to address one imbalance or another.
The (very, very, very broadly speaking) intelligencía: entertainers, pundits, writers, educators, social media influencers, analysts, government officials, all the people who decide what is “true.” They are generally making less and less in wages, salary, pay, whatever, but technology makes them seem more powerful and omnipresent than ever. It also doesn’t help that wealthy, highly educated people are willing to plug the holes created by the state’s austerity on truth-seeking institutions.
Meanwhile, the local rent-seeking petty bourgeoisie seems to be in a fairly strong position in terms of being able to marshal the state and pissed off young men in order to protect their property rights. But being seen as uncool causes these dip****s to demand that the GOP sabotage modernity and equality in order to punish the perceived social lessers (women, POC, queers, etc.) who nevertheless enjoy more social prestige.
