***Official Political Discussion Thread***

They funny thing is it's highly highly likely that most men and women have used a bathroom with a trans person and didn't even know. It's just not an issue. This entire grievance was made up by a political party to once again spew hate.
Yes because the entire idea is to make them sound like monsters that change their genitals to beat girls in sports, touch your kid in the bathroom, and indoctrinate children into chopping their genitals off instead of going to recess.

They did this to gay men decades ago too. They did this in the 2016 election and to a lesser degree 2020 by trying to concoct vile child trafficking conspiracies about Hillary and Biden. That got people shot. There are real consequences to this stuff, but in the end it’s to paint democrats as sub-human and prey on the ignorance of people like the dudes here today.

They fear gay people and trans people out of ignorance and it’s a lot easier to paint them in a horrific light when a former president is running again on the most extreme(ly fabricated) rhetoric to divide.

Hold up... dudes daughter is a bigot too for not wanting to face a 90mph fastball at 10yrs old?
We were discussing washing hands in a bathroom. And yes, kids can be bigots too. Not their fault, they learn it early at home.

And no 10 year old is throwing 90. You sound foolish.

Jesus was woke. Jesus would despise today's Republican party. Jesus was the OG lib.

You can disagree with someone's life choices, but it is bigoted nonsense to claim that a person's gender identity endangers your kids.

It's bigoted nonsense and deserves to be treated as such.
Not really but you're entitled to your opinion just like I am.

This quote rings true for all groups, not just racial.

“If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”

I think any reasonable person would agree that trans women (formerly men) should be banned from competing against women. The hormone difference puts them at a gigantic advantage that is hardly different than doping.
On the other hand, biological men (formerly women) should be allowed to compete against men. They are at a massive disadvantage against natural males.

I don't know if that's legally possible without some complex legalese but that's how it should be imo.

I'm skeptical he knows how his wife and daughter actually feel.
Just as skeptical as I am
My man Jesus ran with marginalized groups. Man kicked it with prostitutes and lepers. He looked out for the poor. He championed diversity. Again, he's the og lib. All that fake Christian bs from Republicans doesn't change that.
i think he would of stopped short at the trans movement

I have been frequently in here for one reason and that’s for ME to learn.
I don’t need to be surrounded with a bunch of like minded believers like myself continuously and have them echo my feeelings and sentiments.
If I want to learn how someone who thinks differently than I do I hang out and talk with those folks, with tall in this instance and you are horrible teachers.
Horrible.
That’s why it always seems like I’m holding one side.

I may have been premature in labeling you a troll, so I’ll address this sincerely.

It’s no one’s job here to teach you anything.

This is a discussion thread, not an education thread. If you come here and represent a valid line of reasoning, people will engage with you even if they disagree with you. But no one is going to hand hold you through basics.

The tone, at times, can be unnecessarily contentious. And often people come off as caring more about “winning” a debate than actually engaging in discourse. I’ve had my fair share of heated discussions with people on here that I respect. Indeed, I’d only engage in heated discussions with someone who’s earned my respect. I don’t waste energy on fools or trolls.

So even though no one is here to teach me anything, I’ve learned a ton by listening and engaging. You could, too.

But aside from spirited debate on things political, this thread has frequently been a place for insincere trolls to bait for attention. Anyone who has invested years of energy into building community here is, rightfully I think, enraged when someone drops in, makes no investment, and drops all kinds of nonsense and then acts all hurt when we aren’t here for it.

Unfortunately I believe in god

Im not making statements about men who decide they want to become women. It's not really a biology thing, it's more like a god thing. I know, that's probably unpopular in this thread too lol.

You think learning about biology is going to shatter your faith in god? I mean if you want to stay ignorant (meaning, you're saying you're going to ignore present-day information a biologist is presenting), you do you, but that kind of sucks.

Like I get not wanting to watch a trick video, because sometimes people give you misinformation or disinformation and it's just a pain to consume the material just so you can come back and tell them where they went wrong or what bad assumptions are present in the data or what omissions mean the points they are making aren't correct.

But this scientist tells you where the limits of his knowledge are, cites his sources (though it's what you would see at the end of a journal article and no layperson would realistically be able to address those) at the end of the video, and he explains parts of genetics and it's really interesting.

The human body and how genes express themselves and what makes certain things work, how hormones and chemicals affect things, and so on. It's also presented in great way.

Well, if you ever change your mind, let me know! If you even have the slightest bit of interest just send me a message that says "Maybe I'll check it later", so that if you do decide you want to watch it, you can catch up with me.

Take care. I used to live in Washington state. What part you in? I lived in Seattle for a time.
