I was reading this yesterday and cracking up. Can't put the toothpaste back in the tube, my man. That song has been identified as a "gay anthem" for DECADES. Guess I should watch calling it that, since he's threatening to sue folks for referring to the song as that, though.

I know of 2 gay anthems and that is 1 of em.. Diana Ross I’m coming out being the other

Only other song I know being a big deal with gays was buju’s boom bye bye which got banned from a bunch of places and I couldn’t see dude in london before he got locked up because of it.. also think sizzle was denied a visa to the UK during that period.. if I’m remembering correctly

Think @Armada is right about how Biden’s presidency will be remembered. We’re in it and people thought it was bad enough that they re-elected trump.

Trump hasn’t even been sworn in yet and we have couple stories of groups feeling some type of way

Along with the people deciding to look up what tariffs are

As I said, people going learn real quick different aint better.. especially when economists thought a recession was a given during biden’s administration and the guy directly responsible is back in charge

This is right after China said they would stop sending America the minerals it needs for batteries and to make chips. Basically he is doing this to limit or reliance on China for those two industry due to the very likely Tariff war coming between the US and China.
Whoever called computer chips the oil of the 21st century wasn't wrong.

It's a rail initiative. Trying to build rail infrastructure in Africa. The rail system in he US screwed, so might as well promote it in other countries.
It was a gotcha question, because anyone who takes Jesse Waters' comments seriously on African geopolitics probably doesn't know what that is.

The BRI is the main vehicle China has used to expand their presence on the continent (and in other areas of the global south).

To expound on this, China has had a two-decade head start on accessing mineral resources throughout Africa via the bridge and road initiative. Lots of African countries have used promises of future access to their mineral resources as way to fund infrastructure projects, both with western countries and China.

The difference (and what cemented China as their favorite lender in the 2000s) was the fact that, unlike the IMF/WB/European lenders, the Chinese government didn't tie social change (implementation of human rights and democratic initiatives) to loans. Many African leaders enjoy this because they do not have to pretend that they're committed to democracy. In fact, the argument that is often advanced when questioned about the future of democracy is that China has proved development doesn't need democracy.

Where does that place the US in Africa? Well, they can't really use the argument of promoting democracy when they've elected a leader that doesn't respect it. They are also facing governments that are deeply skeptical of any US alliance (for good reason, if you know the history - look up Lumumba). The only thing they can reasonably offer to access those resources is going to be money/better trade terms than what African countries get from China.

And they’ll remember “the only reason I voted for a racist criminal is because his opponent was from the terrible wh admin at the time.

Joe Biden’s debate went south cause he appeared out of it or sleepy or whatever. But by all metrics of honesty or policy beneficial to this country, he did a much better job than trump and tons of people won’t remember that. But it was hammered home that Biden was senile and couldn’t lead based on that debate. In 15 years, people are going to vividly remember Biden not being able to complete a sentence, drooling and trump helping him off stage that night.

That’s also how people will remember his presidency. Never mind the infrastructure bill or chips act or any of the good **** that happened during his admin. Memories are a funny thing, man.

Nope. That's not how these things work.

George W lied straight to our faces, got thousands of soldiers killed, and blew trillions of dollars on a war for nothing and he's remembered as the goofy, painting grandpa.

Half of the country doesn't even know why but thinks Reagan is the greatest president ever, a bunch of people dont know anything about him, and a tiny fraction of politically knowledgeable people actually know how bad he was.

Joe has the benefit of being sandwiched by the worst president in history. His legacy will be fine.

My Mom is now retired but did as well.

She basically became independently wealthy off of their stock. Not sure why UH would be singled out though, unless it's a personal story?
First of, good for her, but I used to work on the Medicaid/Medicare side doing claims and benefits. That was a whole scam. Claim will come in perfectly and we'd deny for the dumbest reason for 29 days and then "magically" find the preauthroization that was on the claim the whole time. It was wild.

Not surprised. ****** company and ****** industry to be honest.

It's a pet peeve of mine because Banking (my industry) gets **** on all the time while people in health care are "helping people" .The fact that banks are more regulated than our peoples healthcare is wild to me.

He ain't lyin'

The provider I work for UHC is BY FAR the worst. Their preauth shenanigans is at the top of the list when it comes to their Medicare Advantage plans

Iran/Contra is by no means the worst thing Reagan has done but even that seems to be almost removed from people's memories.
I never really see it mentioned or covered much in documentaries etc compared to Watergate or basically any other Independent Counsel/Special Counsel investigation into a president and/or his closest associates.

Admittedly I can't recall the exact minutia of Iran/Contra off the top of my head at this point but Reagan only walked away without much scrutiny because he used his dementia as a defense.
Iran/Contra was a sprawling criminal investigation that actually resulted in quite a few indictments and convictions in Reagan's close circle. When H.W. Bush got to power, he pardoned them at the end of his presidency but the Independent Counsel rightfully pointed out this was to protect himself from new relevations about H.W.'s own liability with trials still ongoing.
The Independent Counsel Walsh specifically mentioned the Weinberger trial as the basis for his accusation that H.W. was shielding himself more than anything.

Exactly. People are just too far in their "Dems suck" feelings right now and they think a faltering debate or even hunters pardon are going to define Joe's legacy when we had Reagan flooding our own streets with crack to fund his proxy wars and Trump trying a coup.
