I’m all for both of them taking as long as they need to grieve. That’s way more important than football.

As for the team itself. If they aren’t 7-7 after next Thursday night, it’s time to shut any veterans down who they expect to be key contributors next season. Let the rookies and younger guys play and whatever happens happens the rest of the way.

Man the news of Mooney Ward and Trent’s babies passing.. terribly sad. Like yall said, I’m all for the team giving these men the time they need to spend with family and grieve. Can’t even fathom how you process these kind of painful losses.

maybe I’m in the minority but this season feels cooked. even if they somehow manage to win the west and slide into the playoffs. I don’t see this squad making it out of the wild card round, especially with the defense’s inability to stop the run. It’s time to let the young bucks get burn. I want to see what pearsall and cowing look like with more snaps.

Interestingly, if that unlikely scenario were to happen. They would be playing their best football of the year over these final 5 games and ending the season with wins over the Lions and in Arizona. As inconsistent as they’ve been all season long, they’ve done nothing to make you feel like this is some type of sleeping giant though lol.

I don’t blame them for approaching the season as if they’re still in it until they’re mathematically eliminated. I just want to see some effort Sunday though.

Kyle gonna run Gerrendo to the ground just like he ran Elijah Mitchell to the ground during his rookie season… Eli only play like 5 games his sophomore season… and now he ain’t even played a snap

I’ve already mentally prepared myself that this season is looking like a stinker. Way too many injuries to key contributors.

We have no other options besides winning the division outright and every game besides next week is looking like a dogfight, actually I can’t say with confidence we beat the bears this week and if we tie records with the seahags they’ll get the nod so realistically it’s not looking good fellas. Even if we managed our way into the playoffs GB, Minny, Detroit and Philly are all playing better football than us.

What’s maddening to me is if they just won one of those divisional games they lost, especially the Seahawks game. They’re in first place right now and control their own destiny. What’s even more frustrating is that winning the NFC west likely gets you the 3 seed in a year where everything has gone wrong.

They just need to beat the Bears Sunday and have something to play for one more week. The other NFC west teams are going to lose games, but that’s irrelevant if they can’t do their part. Finishing this season strong and not mailing it in regardless of where they finish on the standings would say alot about the team though imo.

McCaffey to IR might be the nail in the coffin. Huf and Lenoir were bad enough for our secondary but now the offense is taking losses to boot. Gerrendo can hold us down in the backfield but Deebo and Kittle aren’t 100% either and I can’t trust Jennings, Pearson and whoever we signed to get it done in the air. Aiyuk missing might be our downfall. I hope trent will be back this week but that’s still up in the air at the moment and I’m not mad at him for it.

I wouldn’t be upset if it’s a wrap for Trent this season. Between injuries and everything family wise. I hope he takes his time coming back.

I do think a lot of good can come out of these last 5 games though. It’s a chance for Purdy to shine. He’s not the reason they’ve underperformed this season. But he also hasn’t put the team on his back at times either. He’s likely going to get a franchise qb deal this offseason. Playing well these last 5 games while missing some major pieces would go a long way to making that be a no doubt decision. He’s likely going to get paid either way. But a strong finish with a undermanned roster would solidify confidence in that move.

Not expecting them to make the playoffs by any means. But play hard and compete while there’s still an outside shot. Finishing strong with Purdy playing good would help change some of those window closed talking points. A 9-8 season with all the injuries and misfortune they’ve had this year wouldn’t look so bad in hindsight.
