Official Saucony Originals / Retro Thread

I can appreciate the Y2K runner trend as much as anyone, but is there any chance we could possibly get some Grid 9Ks or Courageous back on the menu at some point? :nerd:
I don't appreciate the Y2K runner trend at all, I can't wait for it to be over so that all brands (e.g. Saucony, asics, New Balance) can get back to the timeless retro classics 😉

We haven't really seen any Grid 9000s come out for quite some years now, huh? Not even GRs. I for one would like to see them return, as well as some premium / collab renditions on the Shadow OG and Grid 8000, as well as some of the hybrids (Shadow 90, Shadow 5500, Shadow Master, G9 Shadow 5 / G9 Shadow 6, Jazz 91, Grid 8500). It feels like eons since we've seen those at this point.

With Courageous, are you referring to the updated version of it we were getting since the mid '00s? This past year they of course released the OG silhouette with its OG colorway which was nice. There have been a bunch of CWs on that OG rendition since then, not a fan of most of them but there were a few recent ones which were nice. E.g.:

Luckily, we are still blessed with both good GRs and collabs on the Shadow 5000 and 6000 regularly, despite Saucony being all aboard the Y2K performance runner trend. A pick of some of the either premium or themed pairs I've seen popping up recently (on Saucony's own website):

On the subject of collabs, what are your thoughts on the Greyson x Saucony Shadow 5000 "Wolf Pack" collab? It released a few days ago on the Greyson Clothiers website for a shocking $275, and on Saucony.com two days ago for 'only' $210 😄

I do believe that this is how collabs should be approached, even the commercial with the wolfs walking into the famous Saucony creek is very well done aesthetically. The quality on the shoes looks insane too, despite that black is too dominant in the CW for my liking. You have to appreciate the attention to all the customization and details along with the materials used.

Premium leather everywhere, patent leather on the heel counter, premium wool with herringbone and houndstooth textures. A delicious shade of light blue as the secondary colour and an icy outsole.

Then customizations everywhere you can imagine, to name a few: modified traction outsole, see-through "Wolf Pack" branding on the icy outsole, iconography on four different areas of the midsole, middle Saucony river 'pebble' on the lateral side in the blue colour, heel tabs with iconography, one heel counter having Greystone etched in, tongue tab provided with a stitched leather Greyson patch where the Saucony river 'pebbles' are replaced with wolf heads and custom insoles -- whew!

While I have my share of y2k runners, I definitely still prefer a nice suede and nylon runner. Also speaking of grid 9000's, I noticed a bunch of the sparring pair popping up on ebay a couple months ago with no box. My guess is they popped up at Ross or Marshall's. Which is weird since they came out back in 2017. I finally bit the bullet.

God's honest truth I had literally no idea they released Courageouseses this year lol. I don't know if I ever saw them mentioned here, either, but maybe I just missed it. What I really want is more of the suede premium ones they did briefly about 10-12 yrs ago. Loved the look of those.

And no I couldn't even tell you the last 9K that dropped. Maybe like the PB&J GR? It's been like 5 yrs, at least.

Thankfully we're getting those 5Ks and 6Ks though.

i would say that these ones look doubtfully and don't cost 210$ (especially 270$ lol). "made in italy " was better.
also they remind me of some collaborations with solebox.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

I think I was the only person on here feeling these . These are dope imo but I’m a sucker for earth tones/fall colors :emoji_heart_eyes:.

I like what Jae Tips is doing at Saucony (I have the Grid Shadow 2 "Wear To A Date" CW myself) and especially the other Matrix CW to these is right up my alley – but I can't get onboard with the Matrix silhouette 😄

Should I cop these tan starcow for $122 shipped❓❔

Of course, soon as I get a chance at work to sit down and buy them, they take the extra $35 off. $151 ship still isn’t bad though.
