Man i dont know what it is but any UK show brought over to America becomes weak, with the exception of The Office. But like Top Gear, and Skins are just horrible mess ups. The uk version i think seems so sick because you actually get in the mood where you think they are really like that. Like the characters are never out of their norm.. their slang their clothes its all in sync with what the show is trying to portray. The American version is watered down to the point where they refer to weed and drugs and kush as narcotics. Come on ? 17 yr old saying hey i only smoke the best narcotics?
If they have problems with censoring thats cool but dont try to force the show.

I was hoping this would be more like Kids. That was the @%!%

america seems confused.  they like perverted / sexual stuff but once in awhile will try to get conservative.

I've never watched this show and not interested in ever watching it. But just want to say that the states just can't handel nuditly and it's mainly due it being a 'christian nation', example: You can have a game like GTA where you kill hookers, rob cars, kill cops, bomb people, anything illegal or immoral and it only causes a little fuss among parental groups, but then you get GTA: SA where a key unlocks a mini sex game, were there is some computer nudity and sex and it's off with their heads! Government stepping it, forcing recalls of the game. Or movies where there is violence and killing gets PG13, but you show an butt (@%$ censored) and it gets rated R.
The states can't and doesn't handle the human body or sex but craves all the blood, gore, and violence it eat.

and people thought some of us were just being elitist !!%*% when we said uk version > us version.

this is exactly why, they WILL dumb it down because of some old *#!*@ that won't even watch the god damn show.

So this Skins show (the UK version) is kinda like tv version of the movie Kidulthood?

yeah, that's about it.

sort of like degrassi and kidulthood had a baby and they were very liberal with it.

very true.  if a tv show is good and has tons of violence and blood, critics will praise it and call it gritty.  it's ok if kids watch something where a huge number of people get killed but not ok if something shows a nice set of boobs or simulated sex.  it seems nudity is only accepted if it's art or a famous celeb does playboy.  can't even find a decent topless beach in new york to do some sightseeing.

I've recently been watching the UK version and it is definitely better as far as acting goes. I will give the MTV version a few more episodes but so far the UK version has been great. In the middle of season 2 now.
