any correlation between a stock that goes up a day before its earnings report? IM referring to ENZN i wanted to sell it today but im hoping for a bigger gaintomororw

They're pricing in the expectations...and unless they really blow them out of the water, must the gains happen ahead of the call...If I recallcorrectly..At least the bigger movements since the play is on anticipation.

Guys, where are the fundamental analyses? I see a lot of technicals, but that is it.

No, but I'm watching it. Resistance near .002. If it breaks, you're good.

Do you click AON? Also, do you execute orders through the website or the streaming quotes order entry?

There are screeners I usually use, but this one my friend told me about earlier on in the day. I wish I could find more of these before they've had most oftheir runs. Made a good 20% on it though.

Most of the people in here are short term traders, not long term investors.

nope. what does AON do anyway? maybe because im not a day trader but i dont think have the streaming quotes order feature
ok i just clicked on the streaming quotes thing and

Streaming quotes feature is free. What you'll have to pay for though is Scottrade Elite, for lvl 2 quotes...that is on a whole other level.

BTW, AON means all or none. Either you get your entire order filled at once or none of it.

another reason why scottrade > etrade

Be careful when using the order entry on the streaming quotes. It won't ask you to confirm your order, it'll execute right away.

I learned the hard way...

Yeah, I know. But even traders need to consider the fundamentals.

Yeah, I know. But even traders need to consider the fundamentals.

When 70%+ of trading is done by algorithms fundamentals don't mean *++*.
Fundamentals are mostly a crock anyway except for connecting the dots when it relates to what secondary and tertiary corp's benefit from specific deals.
Fundamental's are good until you get enron'd or tyco'd.

You're better of sticking to TA and Macro analysis of sectors/market direction as a whole.
Buffett reaps $1 billion profit on Chinese carmaker
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc has realized a $1.02 billion paper profit on a 10-month-old investment in BYD Co after shares in the Chinese car and battery maker quintupled.

Berkshire's MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co unit had agreed last September 26 to buy 225 million BYD shares at HK$8 each, a transaction then worth about $230 million.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission on Thursday granted approval for the transaction, which gives Berkshire a 9.89 percent stake. BYD shares closed Friday at HK$42.90, valuing Berkshire's stake at HK$9.65 billion, or about $1.25 billion.

That was always my problem with fundamentals. When you buy a stock, you are purchasing a proportional share of an entire future stream of earnings. However onintraday, daily or even weekly/monthly periods, a share of stock is simply based on supply and demand. For it to actually be equivalent to a multiple ofearnings, you'd have to wait a long period for it to actually meet it's intrinsic value (meaning it's real, tangible value, not to be misconstruedwith an option's intrinsic value). I rather make short term trades than lock my money down in a single investment for long periods. I like to believe whatMark Cuban said is true: "I believe non dividend stocks aren't much more than baseball cards. They are worth what you can convince someone to pay forit"

That said, fundamentals aren't entirely pointless. ^^ andycrazn pointed out someone who's still making his decisions based on fundamentals. I tend tobe more biased towards T/A. However, I pay attention to fundamentals for a macro analysis of the market and for a sense of direction (meaning to understandwhere the markets going). My biggest concern with trading using fundamentals, is you never really know how much a certain fundamental affects astocks' price.

As of 5:00 am, futures have been falling all night and EUR/USD, GBP/USD and JPY/USD all show dollar weakness (up, up and down, respectively).

Warren Buffett is the definition of alpha money. He has better analytics, information andconnections than you, so it'd be hard to follow his every move. Try getting preferred shares of GS with a better deal than the U.S.government.

anyone have a recommendation on a good mutual fund for the long term? I have been dealing strictly with stocks
