They never took off, but "Dem Boyz" was a very hot single. Plus, let's not act like Jeezy wasn't getting checks from both Def Jam AND Bad Boy. Dude couldn't help but to be everywhere (deservingly so). When I heard Ova Here and Trap Or Die with Bun B, I knew Jeezy was gonna be something big.
As far as Game not being a lead dude, well...and? During that time, everybody was getting shine. Kanye, Jay, Em, 50 (and G-Unit), Nelly hit his peak right before then but was still a big name, Ludacris and a lot of others. Do you really remember the anything from 2005??? Everybody was doing numbers and getting fame. Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, and Slim Thug all shined, Three 6 Mafia had a resurgence, along with Game having a rise at the top of the year before then. Game having friction within G-Unit kept him from being along side Jay or Kanye more than anything.

Nobody denying jeezy had co signs but game had co signs just as big. Just was just bigger than him and had a wayyy bigger movement. 50 took every member of g unit tailor made them a single with him on it and they all had platinum albums, game included.

So much dilusion in this thread. Game has been a consistent artist since he came out. Pretty much brought the resurgence of the west coast back. Shined the light on artists you hear now (k dot, Jay Rock, ya boy, dubb, g Malone, etc). I don't care about anyone's album sales so those talks are irrelevant. He was in a class where jeezy also came out and in my opinion, is doing much better than jeezy, music wise. Game is a crap ceo though. That is one thing that Ross has over him. He knows how to promote his artists and get them on a major label. Game has something good in skeme, so hopefully he'll continue to develop him. A lot of folks that were around when BWS was really out there, got deals. Whether they did anything with it is another story but he did have a hand in that. You can't just say that 50 gave him a career because even if you take away Fresh 83 and Hate it or Love it, he still has a classic album in the documentary and doctors advocate.

west coast had nobody to root for until the last 3 years, cali was known for dance music until yg and kendrick took off

He even more popular than he was when LAX dropped tho...His rhymes have gotten even better
he is a legend, how can he not be? he was the last dude after Snoop to ressurect the West Coast, also had Dr. Dre backing him. it doesn't get any bigger than that. he's been around for 10 years, longevity in hip hop isn't easy either.
