***** Official The Game Thread*****[Final Album "Westside Story'' TBA]

See how time flies? It's been 10 years since Jayceon Terrell Taylor unleashed his debut album, The Documentary, and the game (not to mention The Game) has never been the same. Released January 18, 2005 on Aftermath/G-Unit, the album opened at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and went on to be certified double platinum with a blend of straight-up L.A. gangsta rap and undeniable radio-killer hooks. Boasting production by Dr. Dre, Kanye West, and Scott Storch, and featuring the likes of 50 Cent, Eminem, and Nate Dogg, The Documentary still had only one center of gravity: a bar-spitting, name-dropping, story-telling, gruff-voiced G who grew up in the thick of Compton gang culture, idolizing N.W.A founders Eazy-E and Dr. Dre. That he would survive a near fatal shooting in 2001 and end up signed to Dre's label, bringing its creative focus back to the West Coast, and certified as "rap's MVP" felt very much like manifest destiny.

You know the rest of the story, the inevitable beef with 50, the shots fired at Hot 97, the G-Unot campaign, the falling out and reconciliation with Dre. It's all part of the game, who has proven to be one of the most consistently unpredictable artists in rap.

10 years after The Game's debut, L.A. gangsta rap is enjoying a full-blown renaissance. From Kendrick and Nipsey to Vince and YG, West Coast rappers are killing the game, but nobody can kill The Game. With Straight Outta Compton raking in millions at the box office and Dr Dre's Compton album erasing years of Detox frustration, The Game couldn't have chosen a more opportune moment to reprise his debut with The Documentary 2, an appropriately star-studded affair featuring Cube, Dre, Snoop, Kendrick, Drake, Kanye, Diddy, Future, and many more.

"I wish Eazy-E was alive to see us flourish yet again," the artist said of his forthcoming album, a double disc (one red, one blue) set for release on October 9. "This album cover represents the struggle to stay alive in a city where Crips & Bloods have been at war since 1972." The album also coincides with a flareup of gang violence, with the grim #100 Days100 Nights campaign shedding blood all over the streets of L.A.. The roots of this endless cycle of violence was one of the first topics of discussion when The Game stopped by Mass Appeal HQ yesterday during his run through New York.

It's been seven years since we last chopped it up with The Game. He covered Mass Appeal Issue #50 (can't make this stuff up) back in March 2008 with a cover story by our now creative director, Sacha Jenkins. Yesterday, in the midst of his New York run—minutes after dropping the bombshell news that he'd be releasing a double-disc album—his two busloads of entourage poured into our SoHo offices. And once again, it was gametime. Along with sharing his thoughts on L.A. gang culture, Game spoke about how he patched things up with Dr. Dre after the beef with 50 Cent, reminisced about putting Kendrick on his first mixtape, shared what he would have changed about the N.W.A bio-pic, and offered some advice to Meek Mill. He also spoke in detail about "Ghetto" his new collab with Nas, revealed which emcees he'd put on his personal rap Mt. Rushmore, and uttered what is without a doubt the illest Rihanna lyric in the history of rap. Hate it or love it, all you can do is charge it to The Game.

Somebody posted this in the reddit AMA...it took me a second

I'm a big fan, Triple H.

What's your favorite match of all time? My favorite is probably the 3 Stages of Hell match vs. Shawn Michaels. That was a great match.

What's your new documentary about?
