*OFFICIAL* The Roots - undun (Dec. 6) (9 min. Short Film)

Damn after listening, it's great. Great concept and execution. The group is smooth and groovy as always. And Black Thought proves his legendary status once again.

In terms of overall artistry Black is only matched by 'Pac and Mos in my eyes (and to my ears).

Can't wait to give this a listen...

Black Thought is a legendary MC.
QuestLove is a musical genius.
The Roots are one of the greatest hip-hop groups of all time...

Listened to about half (didn't want to spoil it), but I LOVED that EWF style interlude at the end of Make My. I can't wait.

Agreed! Album will be copped and the app for IOS is dope too.

Whats the deal with Blu and Quest??

So only 3 pages for this album but over hundred for wack baby soft rappers like Drake? SMH. I was listening to this album all morning and man... It's a great album. There's not many albums coming out these days that i can say are complete albums. What i mean by complete that they aren't any stupid %@@ single songs that are put there just to get radio play. Those songs like that Rihanna song on Take Care ruin the whole album's vibe to me. Sorry for confusing text but tomorrow or actually today is Finnish Independence Day and i started early with some Vodka.

Everyone knows them, but I swear they're criminally underrated by many. To me, they are leaps and bounds ahead of their peers as far as their creativity and innovation. They're 24 years deep in the game and getting better by the year like a fine wine. As far as rap groups, I have them right behind ATCQ in my personal favorites. I can't wait to hear Undun (as with all their albums, I try my hardest to stay away from leaks and actually SUPPORT their efforts), and HOPEFULLY this is the album that gets them that RAOTY Grammy win.

Whats the deal with Blu and Quest??
apparently quest & the roots were extra particular about the verses they wanted on the album - they wanted everything to fit the theme..phonte supposedly recorded his verse multiple times. well blu recorded a verse..had nothing to do with the concept..they asked him to re-do it... he never did, so they dropped his verse from the album. then the track list came out and blu wasn't on there, and he was heated...went to twitter asking why they dropped his verse and saying he ripped it harder than black thought. quest just kind of shrugged it off, saying everyone was held to higher standard and maybe blu can get on the next album. but the media caught wind and it became this whole big ordeal.

I Will Be Picking This Up On Tuesday... The Roots, Wu-Tang & Tribe Are My Holy Trinity As Far As Hip-Hop Groups!!

Good looks on the info. SMH @ Blu. I loved his verses on HIGO and would have loved to hear him on this album but dude should have just put in the work and re-done his verses.

Either way I can't stop listening to this album.

I wondered why blu wasn't on the album. If that's the truth, I'm kind of disappointed in the guy. I think Blu is dope< But rippin it harder than Thought, go below the heavens.

Another great album from The Roots indeed

Been playing it for a while now, didn't know there was a thread.

A bit short for me though. I know when I looked at the tracklist I was lightweight hype about movements 2-4 as the last tracks, only to find out they're basically interludes.

From track 4 to track 10 is the most amazing stretch. Right now The OtherSide is my fav song, usually rotating with Lighthouse and Tip The Scale.

Black and Greg Porn really got off on this album

^Agreed on BT and Greg Porn on the album. Dice Raw spit some fiyah too. His verse on One Time and his verse on Tip The Scale are on point. Lyrically the album is amazing as there is no wack verse on here.

@ KanyeWestJayZ "go below the heavens" Well done!

Once the world caught on to the sly, musical message that the "Late Show With Jimmy Fallon" backing band the Roots sent to Michele Bachmann during her appearance on the show last week, reaction was swift: some laughed, Bachmann was outraged and NBC apologized.

Now, the band's drummer and leader, Questlove, has revealed that he has been the target of a steady stream of hate speech and racial epithets from Bachmann supporters and tea party members in the wake of his band playing a few notes of "Lyin' %+@ B*tch" by Fishbone.

"I've seen some really colorful epithets in the past four days, but 'n*gger f*ckhead ghetto stick' is probably the one that takes the cake. I'm still trying to get my head around that one," the musician told Pitchfork.com. "Blocking 3,500 tea party extremists [on Twitter] in a three day period is no fun, especially when you're a drummer dangerously close to carpal tunnel. In the end, was it worth it? Absolutely not."

Questlove insists that he is sorry over the incident, and didn't realize it would be quite so offensive.

"It deeply offended a lot of women's groups and non-Bachmann supporters, and for that I'm deeply sorry," he said. "I'm not parading like I'm the poster boy for the feminist movement, but those who truly know me know that that's not me. I was really just going with her whole revisionist history angle, I wasn't calling it out on her being a woman."

Had to play back The OtherSide quite a few times on the first run through. This is GREAT music though. As a group the Roots continue to push themselves to do different and amazing things musically

Great album. Loving it.
Dare I say their best?

Wouldn't be a stretch for me to say it...
