As many of you I watched seasons 4/5 of the wire while in HS.. of course off bat it related like other inner-city views off of shows and etc. Thanks to the world wide web and the creation of torrents I was able to acquire seasons 1-3 last week. As well as all of Doug, some Rocko, and some All That

But I digress..

I watched the first 2 seasons in the first 2 days upon a few hrs of seeding. (I'm one of the good guys) And all I can say is this is a good #+% show. Basically one of the best period. All this scripted reality show stuff and cheesy game shows hurts my brain. Seriously. I was oblivious to the rate at which corruption can trickle through a city, aside from the boys... been hemmed up by them a few times for "fitting the description..." From the arrival of the product to the individuals who sell it to the individuals on the street who use it and as a result the police who have to play the janitor role and clean %%%! up. Everone played a role and everyone was affected. Or as wiki put it ;Each season of The Wire focuses on a different facet of the city of Baltimore. In chronological order they are: the illegal drug trade, the seaport system, the city government and bureaucracy, the school system, and the print news media.

As of now I am on season 3 episode 3 and I'm ready for my mans String to be killed already.. scheming, shady #+% *+!*!.. can't even trust your right hand... sad yo!! I read ahead and knows when and how.

Other than that the show deserved more notoriety than it received but ehh.

"He died exactly like a Pawn. He couldn't turn back and run, he had to stand his ground and fight, he even shoots at Chris and Snoop diagonally from where he's standing, not to mention both of them are attacking like Bishops, and finally O-Dog steps forward out of the doorway, then walks straight to Bodie and kills him, like a Knight's L shape attack. And of course Marlo, the King, is nowhere to be seen, he stays out of the battles. A great callback to season 1's chess scene."

that just sealed Bodie's fate
Stringer had it coming for the last couple episodes before he died, dude was goin off the hook with some of the stuff he was doing. but Bodie got killed off with warning. i guess it was hard to take because they waited till the end of Season 4 to kill him off, and by that time we had gotten to know his character so intimately.

The streets always grabs potential.. That fast money aint no joke yo... Experience...of some sort...

Disagree, not exciting for many of you especially that peon that said season 1 was dumb b/c it had too much talking.. huh. The Ports was another ave that the dealers used to get the stuff in and more #+% kissing, conspiracies, set-ups...

-There is a scene in Season One where Herc is tryin to get a desk in of an office but its stuck. More and more officers come to help him some in the office, some outside the office, everyone pushing and pulling. Daniels, Carver and Sydnor. Freeman just sits and watches and never says anything the entire scene - but you can tell he knows what the problem is. At the end of the scene Herc mentions how hard it is to get desk in the office...and everyone on the otherside thought he was trying to get it out. The complete lack of communication causing deadlock of a lack of result was a theme in the show and made a hilarious scene.

-Cutty slaps ol girl

*Oh yea and I catch a few bloopers that I guess editors leave in movies from time to time. e.g. I think house party 2 where stinky get the THICK chick in the cake, when she pops out, Play slaps him in the neck and if you watch his face he laughs and lil subtle laugh..

Worthwhile thread?

Some tracks I listened to while doing this..

I'd have to agree, considering he's the only street character to make it through to the end without some kind of comeuppance.

im on my 4th watch about to finish season 4. The best part of the wire to me is to watch it with someone new so they can watch and see things that you didnt catch.

Wallace getting bodied bothered me the most.

Favorite line deff is omar "come at the king you best not miss" I use it any time possible

I watched the entire series earlier this summer.
