According to this person, the movie is good...no spoilers in this post..so don't worry about anything being given away
The movie is good. Not great, not garbage, but good. First the negatives...The movie feels kind if rushed. It goes by super fast and doesn't really pause, it's very straight forward. April's storyline in particular just get kind of dropped without a satisfying resolution. She has an active roll in the story, but things don't come full circle her. Also, while the action was good...there's no stand out fight scene. The Turtles just plow through the Foot clan pretty quick without breaking a sweat. They're not Hulk-like, but the are a little too strong. Shredder is really the only threat to them but there isn't a strong and epic back-and-forth fight at the end. It's kind of like the first movie.
Now for the positives. The Turtles are great. They're fully in character, they're funny, they're not overly serious, they're a blast to watch. Mikey's thing with April is way more cute than creeperish. Knoxville does a fine job is Leo and everyone gets their own good moments. And the flashback scene with the young Turtles in Splinter is really sweet and funny. As for the humans, no one is terrible. They all play their parts competently. Arnett doesn't steal the show, but he's funny. Ficthner is alright, and no he's not Shredder. They're quick to establish that. Megan Fox is fine. You can see she's trying, and to the movies credit it doesn’t overly sexualize her. It treats her like a character. Shredder is pretty standard villain and gets a great fight scene with Splinter, whose new look takes a little getting used to, but he's really entertaining.
And while I said the movie feels rushed, I think that will help it win over casuals and young audiences. It doesn't meander, it doesn't fake us out with false endings, it's quick and to the point. It's not Transformers.
The movie never gets vulgar or offensive. It's light hearted, very comedic, fast-paced, and it has fun. The snow chase scene is the major set piece and it's great. Overall it's a very simple story, nothing more, nothing less. It's not gonna change the game but it's not gonna destroy childhoods. Kids will be entertained. Parents probably too. It's not the movie the fanbase was waiting for, but there's potential for future installments. It's like an episode of the cartoon with the visual aesthetic of Mirage. It's a fun popcorn movie.
Oh, there was no post credit scene in the version I saw, but that could change upon release.
