Teams Inquire With Raptors About Parker

Jun 27, 2009 9:48 AM EST

A number of teams have asked about guard Anthony Parker, according to league sources.

Parker, 34, is unlikely to return to Toronto, especially after the team drafted DeMar DeRozan with the 9th pick.

The Spurs, Celtics, Suns, Cavaliers and Thunder have reportedly asked about Parker, who will become a free agent on July 1st.

Parker, who is looking for one last lucrative contract, could return to the Euroleague if he is unable to get a suitable contract from an NBA team.

Not surprised teams want him..BC should of put Kapono and Parker in a package deal instead of trading for Reggie Evans

You cant expect to trade Parker or Kapono by themselves and get someone good but it will look good if you traded them together in a package deal. We'll justhave to see what BC does in July.

See these types of posts never make any sense to me.

How do you know what teams were willing to offer for both?

Why on earth would teams want essentially two 3 point specialists, Parker is better but why would you trade for a package of both.

We are lucky we were able to find any one to take Jason Kapono's corpse and we got a cheaper live body in return.

I think Reggie is a solid bench player but on the Raptors he's definitely a waste unless they make some other big trades. Not sure what theycould've got in a package deal but I agree, they should've looked somewhere else.

i have no delusions about the playoffs unless this team makes a big move.

so much free agent movement and the raptors seem like the only team in the L not involved in something.

s.o.b.'s not even trying.

.

sign iverson for a year.

not going to the playoffs anyway, might as well put some butts in some seats and sell some jerseys..

forget my last post.

.

Free agent Hedo Turkoglu(notes) has backed out of his commitment to the Portland Trail Blazers and plans to sign with the Toronto Raptors, a source close to the talks told Yahoo! Sports on Friday night.

Turkoglu had agreed on a five-year, $50 million deal with the Blazers, but changed his mind and could be headed for a five-year, $56 million deal with the Raptors. Toronto would have to renounce three free agents - Shawn Marion(notes), Carlos Delfino(notes) and Anthony Parker(notes) - to create the cap space for Turkoglu.

Apparently, the Blazers are already busy exploring other free-agent options for the $9 million in salary-cap space.

A source says Turkoglu's wife wanted badly to live in Toronto, a far more European-style city, and that's where it appears the Turkish native is headed. The Raptors have embraced the Euro game under GM Bryan Colangelo, building a roster that includes Euro talents Jose Calderon(notes) and Andrea Bargnani(notes).

Five years ago, Turkoglu was close to signing with the Phoenix Suns that Colangelo was running, but changed his mind and went to the Orlando Magic.

After opting out of his contract last week in Orlando, he became one of the hottest free agents on the market. Turkoglu, 30, averaged 16.8 points and 5.3 rebounds last season for the Magic.

Osh Kosh.. I'm sipping the Derozan kool-aid too! His progression during the end of the college season was a good sign.. When it mattered, he seemed to stepup and be more aggressive..

And oh.. Turk
pimp.gif

After all of those clutch plays and that playoff performance, he's worth 10 mil!! Well, at least for this coming year and the next and the Raps should bein a win now mode (or else CB4 will jet and it'll be rebuild time anyways)..

Hopefully Derozan can make up for Marion's speed, length, athleticism and good wing rebounding.. Or at least a nice dunk here and there!

HEDO TO TDOT! MOTHER EFFIN EH!!!!

Chris, please stay now. BC is obviously trying to keep you by bringing you more players. Please please please.

What is the status with marion with this signing?

He is gone, maybe to orlando in a sign and trade...but he won't get more than the MLE.

Clutch, you a fool.

Go Riders btw

At any rate, I wasnt completely thrilled with Trix's play while he was with the Raps. With Hedo now, no real reason to bring him back.

1 - Jose
2 - DeMar
3 - Hedo
4 - Bargs
5 - Bosh

My concern is how our bench looks.

Hedo and Bargnani pick and rolls will be a matchup nightmare.

Hopefully Demar can give us the defense we need and hopefully Ivaroni can get us back to being a at least above average defensive club.

at clutch.
i like that starting 5.
your bench is an HUGE problem though. and i think you guys overpaid hedo by quite a bit.

Who did we have to let go to make room for Hedo?

I know AP is going to leave (tears), but did we have to give up Graham as well? If so, that may be a problem. Dude is a good fill in/role player.

delfino didnt matter, he was overseas already. marion im not worried about. parker was going to LA anyway. Only loss is really Graham, and that kind of puts astinger in the deal.

Oh well, a good move regardless.

So now were at:

1 - Jose/Roko/Douby
2 - DeMar/Marcus Banks
3 - Hedo
4 - Bargs/Reggie Evans/Humph/Jawai
5 - Bosh/Voshkul/POS

I dont mind this. We need to go for another 2/3 type of player. After that though, I really dont mind.
Worth the shot to keep Bosh in Toronto.I like it.

Nope, since MLE and LLE are only available if you don't use any of the free capspace. But what could happen is that they can fix Turk'scontract so that he doesn't get paid as much in his first year of the deal in order to have some space to sign some other free agents.
