Defending gay people’s humanity, especially black gay people, takes nothing away from protecting the black family unit. It can be completely possible to keep the agendas separate and not dehumanize an entire group of people outside of your agenda. In one line umar says he has no problems with gay people but then blames the low birth rate on them and calls them useless because they don’t fit into his view of what a black family is. Bruh this the same video where he says black teen are infertile because of birth control (which I pointed out a while back was a lie). He then goes on to say that Barack Obama “elegantly convinced” black boys and girls to be gay which is also bringing down the birth rate. How am I supposed to think he feels about gay people? Are we supposed to ignore all the problematic stuff he says in the SAME VIDEO because said “I don’t have a problem with gay people”? Idk how recent I can get than the same damn video you’re using to attempt to prove a point

One thing that's always bothered me about all Umar (and hoteps in general) is their disdain for LGBT rights and activism. They make it sound like LGBT=white. Like black gay and trans people aren't killed and discriminated against at alarming rates. Like the stigma of being gay or trans doesn't get black people killed. Umar and these supposed black leaders never talk about LGBT black deaths.

I met an older white lady who's worked in AIDS research for decades. She let me know that one of the primary reasons that the AIDS epidemic is so bad for blacks and Latinos is because of the stigma of being gay in those communities. Young men will have gay sex, no get tested for AIDS, not get condoms, no seek help, etc. then also have sex with women and give it to them. The stigma around d being gay is so deep that these kids would rather die than be openly gay

The reason AIDs is so bad in the black and brown community is the stigma around sex education in our communities and no relationship with doctors. My pops has ran a non-profit for years and one thing they do is teach sex education in middle and high schools in the inner city. Our kids know nothing about sex or STDs. Once I graduated college I worked with group that taught high schoolers. Since we were a outside organization separate from the school we had to solicit our services to high school Principals, low income aparytment complex managers or anyone with access to a number of high schoolers. They loved the idea and said their kidz would greatly benefit but didnt want the parents backlash. The black and brown communities are very religous and theres a stigma srrounding the thought of their children being introduced to sex, eventhough statistics showed their children were sexually active and or exposed to sexual activities. We did have some leaders allow us access to their students and it was crystal clear that sex ed was needed. Our circulum was 16 hours and before we started with a new group and would ask general quwstions to gauge what the students knew. Every class, overwhelmingly when asked they thought the clitoris was "the thing in the back of your mouth", had no clue what a vagina or penis was because they only knew it as a p@#$y and d#$k or some other derogatory term. When AIDs was discussed, they believed it only affected gay people. While AIDs is higher among gay males its higher among gay black men because condoms usage is not something talked about and your more vunerable to STDs when engaging in anal sex because of tge direct access to your bloodstream. During my time we did have parents come to the schools complaining we were teaching their kids sex ed. In one many meetings with a upset parent and principle, the principle brought up the fact the child was a year behind failing all their classes and recently caught engaged in sexusl activity on campus and the parent decides to show up on campus when they learn the child being taught sex ed.

For someone with so much truth I was expecting some sort of communication since it was truth he was directly in control of. But he went ghost. I was looking online for any media statements and came up empty. I just wanted to know what the status was. I didn't give money becuase he had no structure of proof warranting my donation for his endeavor, but if he had something concrete at this point, I would love to donate. School always need funding from inception to daily operation. I want to see this happen but all indicators are pointing in the opposite direction and he hasnt done anything thus far to change the narrative. (His silence only supports it)

I dont nor do my parent donate or even go to a church. (Nor do we believe Jesus was white) I approach that institution with the same level of skepticism I do any individual or organization. Your words must be in line with your actions and beliefs. (I believe Umar has said the same thing).

But why in the world would I want someone who clearly isn’t committed to the truth to be responsible for teaching and indoctrinating our youth? The problem is that Umar isn’t JUST preaching panafricansim. He uses it to peddle conspiracy theories and pseudoscience to push his agenda. 90% of what was said in that 5 minute video Used to “prove” that he has no problem with gay people was pure nonsense and reaching. The only things that were actually facts were the fact than teen pregnancy is down, and that there are countries in Africa that have out right banned abortion. Everything else was purely his own creation. Are black people so desparate for a leader that they have to compromise this much?

we are NOT desperate for a leader, its refreshing to see a man in the public eye who has zero agendas other than uplifting the black family. No religion, no political party, no music label, no corporations, no other races of people. Just black people of African descent PERIOD.

I will always say, he isnt perfect and HE DOES NEED TO EAT. But the haters will come in here and don't give a damn about what he is trying to accomplish but instead don't like the fact that a public man who isnt about the typical other agendas that everyone is pushing on us except LOVING BLACK PEOPLE FIRST

we are NOT desperate for a leader, its refreshing to see a man in the public eye who has zero agendas other than uplifting the black family. No religion, no political party, no music label, no corporations, no other races of people. Just black people of African descent PERIOD.

Why would someone with no other agenda make false hoods and fear monger to push his message as much as he does? That’s what I want to know. I’m not hating on uplifting the diaspora, that’s 100% necessary for us to survive this post colonial world. But why does a man who’s supposed to be a scholar, who’s supposed to be an educator, riddle his message with made up information, conspiracy theories, fearmongering, with a splash of homophobia and bigotry on top? Why are you and his followers not holding him accountable to the truth in his message to the world? I don’t care about what he does in his private life for him to be “not perfect”. MLK was an aldulterer in his private life, but every time he got up to speak to the masses his message was pure and his agenda was clear. You can’t say that about Umar. He went on that radio show that you post “to speak the truth”, damn near none of it was based in truth. And you’re calling people who won’t blindly get behind that haters? When did critical thinking become hating?
