The only thing I want from Umar and the school is the truth. That’s it’s. Keep It focused on the black community/diaspora. Keep the fear mongering, conspiracy theories, pseudo science toxic sh*t out of it and teach our black boys how to thrive in their communites and out in the world. Point blank period. I expect that from any and all black leaders. If we can’t agree on that then we just aren’t going to agree. Warning this is gonna be a long one so just bear with me lol

For me it’s not about being perfect. No ones perfect. It’s not even about the school, like I mentioned before, my problem with him never had anything to do with the school aside from his lack of transparency. It’s about being conscious about what your message is. It’s about Umar separating his personal beliefs from the panafricansim message cause they don’t always overlap but he gets on radio stations, does interviews, and gives speaches as if they’re one and the same. It’s funny because you brought up umar and the gay community. I have zero issue with his statements about keeping the agendas separate for the most part so that the black agenda isn’t co-opted and I agree for the most part. What I don’t like is that he then went on to make some long convoluted connection between the gay people, and Obama, and birth rates, and so on and so forth and then ties into the destruction of the black family. That’s the kind of stuff that needs to stop because it’s not true and it has nothing to do with Panafricanism. But you wouldn’t know that listening to Umar speak on those things. Can you imagine how many educated well intentioned black folk just shut the rest of it out because of stuff like that? (Not just about the community). I’m 100% okay with chewing up the meat and spitting out the bones (taking the good with the bad) when it comes to lecturers,pundits, social media speakers but when it comes to teachers and educating our youth I have a MUCH higher standard. The only thing that needs to be taught in these class room is 100% fact based truth. And there’s tons of it in regards to the black community.

I however will continue to hold our black leaders to a higher standard because I know we’re more than capable of meeting and surpassing that standard as long as we hold them and eachother accountable.
