hopefully the DFB's pursuit of Zelalem is more an indictment of the youngster's talent and not DFB trying to muddle/c block the USMNT and Jurgen
although, I believe Zelalem could accept the call up and play for the German U18 squad and still complete his FIFA switch to the US, unless FIFA sees this as a conflict.....

Fifa could see this as a conflict, there have been instances of them doing both.

Zelalem aquired US citizenship in December. US soccer is currently trying to navigate the convoluted fifa waiver laws & since they haven't ruled Germany is trying one last time to get him to come back.
US Soccer should receive an exception for Zelalem to play with the team since FIFA does allow players to join national teams of their naturalized countries if they are able to show their naturalization didn't violate the spirit of FIFA's laws.
Sunil Gulati was expecting fifa to green light Zelalem for the US by April.
I think this is much ado about nothing.

Forgot to post this. Nice vignette on U18 attacking mid Luca de la Torre whose been at Fulham youth academy for a couple of years now.
A couple of us have already said this but I think we'll see the level of play & skill of US soccer advance/rise within the next 5-7 years or so. Our younger players are becoming more technically proficient players.
On a personal note, my son's team has a new technical trainer that will begin in the spring as we transition from youth 8v8 to 11v11. We're supposed to start 11v11 in the fall but our coach wanted to push it up since our boys are ready. The technical trainer is one of the best in MD. He's worked more with girls & has had tons of kids go on to play all levels of collegiate footy.
I also got my son a one on one coach to help tighten up his fundamentals (dribbling, first touch, shooting, more comfortable with left foot). The guy is the spriest 60-something year old Scottish guy. He played on the Scottish national youth teams & then his parents immigrated to Canada where he had spells on their national team.
He then moved to Baltimore where he played indoor "soccer" for the Baltimore Blast for several years (won championships) & even managed the team.
Very excited about this because the guy has been a fixture on the "soccer" scene here in Baltimore for years. He loves kids & does extremely well training kids. What I really like is his one on one training is very fast paced because he also wants to build the players cardio.

Benji is far better off without Chicago and Frank Yallop.
I don't think he has the quality to be a first choice CM with the USMNT but with a little luck he'll have a long professional career.
Would love to see him in Spain.

I thought I heard you! Crazy how the Ultras lasted all but 8 minutes into the game. They seem to have had quite a few problems as "visitors" in the past
This, the type of guy he is completely makes up for anything he's ever done or hasn't done on the pitch. Should he continue to be on the USMNT? No, probably not. Should he have gone to Brazil? No, probably not. But he has still been a solid player (poacher) in MLS and his character/demeanor off the pitch is something I wish I'd see more in professional athletes, dude is so humble. With that being said, I am not a fan of the Quakes and understand we all have our own opinions, haha. Just give him a little break.

glad to see Zardes with the start.... Bedoya in the central mid rather than out wide will be a nice change.
Hope Chandler comes out strong, he's been in fine form in Bundesliga
Wanna see Garza have a good game, we could use a rock like him at LB
