Bingo.

Shuges keepin' it 100.

OC ain't a bad dude but son has a knack for stirring !*@+ up among other petty things...if the Cavs lose to Orlando, he's not gonna hear the end ofit...

I dunno... I think a lot of people listened to Van Gundy and Jackson go on and on like a couple of women in some hair salon about this Dahntay trip and nowthey're all mortally offended.

Did the trip look more intentional than not? Probably.

Was it pointless? Yes.

Is it any more serious than the elbows, kicks and miscellany that Kobe's ever given? No.

The phrase "He should be suspended" is being thrown around way too much these days.

Rewind to, say, 1992. Jones' trip wouldn't be thought about. Shoot, go back to the 91 Bulls-Pistons series when Rodman and Salley were tripping ANDpushing Jordan and Pippen. Regular fouls called, if at all, on that stuff.

Not condoning non-basketball actions; I'm simply saying the NBA has created such an artificial reality on the court that even the slightest transgressionis serious business.

Like the "flagrant" they gave Bynum for the foul on Birdman. That wasn't a flagrant.

Somewhere Laimbeer and Mark Aguirre are laughing at the league.

The thing is, Kobe was penalized and suspended for his actions. That @%%! wasn't swept under the rug. Nobody was condoning Kobe for what hedid, especially for his elbow on Mike Miller a few years back and the same should be said for Jones. Jones has a reputation for playing like a !#+%! and wasalready assessed a flagrant 1 for that shove on Kobe in game 3.

How is intentionally tripping an opposing player and shoving him in the back while he's in the air a slight transgression from the basketballnorm. Those dumb moves don't belong in basketball, unless we playing prison ball.

Naw. You're trying to find a reason to justify Jones bone headed heat of the moment dirty play. Look at the play on its own. Straight up dirty. He knew. None of Kobe's unnatural basketball moves are justified either. I'd be one of the first one to say he deserved to be suspended.
Am I? Where have I tried to justify Jones' actions? Again, it doesn't make sense that dyyhard isbasing the acceptability of dirty play on a player's talent. If you feel that Kobe should have been suspended over what he did to Battier then you and Iare on the same page. If Kobe got suspended for that, then I would have absolutely no qualms about Jones getting suspended for tripping him. Now, if Jonesgets suspended, it will only further show the leagues' bias towards stars and against lesser players. Regular star calls are fine, but it'sunacceptable for the league to basically say "Hey Kobe, it's ok to knee Battier in the head, but if someoneintentionally trips you, we'll make sure he's dealt with."

If Carmelo or Chauncey were pushed in the back or tripped like Kobe, I guarantee somebody else from the nuggets would take action. Lakers are softies. Youdon't let somebody take cheap shots at your best player.

for any teammate for that matter

The trip had no significance on the game, Lakers didn't show up ! Game 5, it's on! Funny how just because the Nuggets showed up, all of a sudden thefans are talking reckless, about how "it should've been over" #+%## !!! You win by 1 or blow a team out by 50 makes no difference because thereis always a next game.

From the beginning, this is what I was afraid of, the Nuggets bench giving it to the Lakers. The only thing that haunts me is Phil's decision to have hisbench players play the first 5 minutes of a crucial 4th quarter down by 10 and have his top scorers sitting on the bench. But at least, now it's back tozero and I'm confident that the Lakers are going to get it done with 2 straight !!!

Some of you guys blindly support athletes the way females blindly support each other: it's damn obvious Jones was trying to trip Kobe. Cut it out with the'he seems like a good guy' and 'he never plays dirty' BS.

u people act like kobe never do others dirty. For example, Ginobili, Jaric, Korver and others. He deserves it. And besides it's only a trip not like joneskicked him or elbowed him. It aint that serious

Difference is there was action taken against Kobe for those things. He was suspended, given a flagrant, tech, etc. Get outta here with all that hedeserves it BS, if it was anyone else you wouldn't be saying that crap. Jones is just mad he's getting his @%% lit up every game and has resorted tobush league tactics to try and take KB out. I wouldn't be surprised if he got suspended b/c with the two handed push in the back from Game 3 and now thisintentional trip and even trying to undercut KB while he was in the air at least twice last night, Jones is playing hella dirty in this series. Man up and stopKobe, don't be a little %@*!* about it and try to hurt him.

It might be a good idea to make free throws in the playoffs on the road, I dunno, what'daya'll think?

LO and Ariza are hobblin pretty good, but nobody cares, all teams got injuries right now, play the hell thru it.

Bynum still don't get it, playin hard is not makin bank shots, or postin up and gettin buckets, playin hard is killin anyone in your path to get the damnball. Grab every rebound, block shots, quit workin so hard to score points, and work your a^^ off to get us the ball. Grow up kid.

Denver better win this series. For all this yappin they're doin, they better win this series.

whether or not he deserved it is not the case. fans like you suck !+%, why even go to watch a game if you want one player to hurt another?

i never commented on kobe's previous actions nor did I/would I say it was acceptable, so don't put words in my mouth. i just said the difference isthat jones is getting beat, time and time again, over the course of a series, which causes him to react that way.

One final thing, this isn't the 1st time apparently in the playoffs that Jones has been accused of doing dirty crap. I guess since a lot of NTers say thatCP3 does dirty stuff too that he deserves that kind of crap done to him as well. There's a fine line between playing good, physical D (like Shane or RonRon) and just getting frustrated cause KB is making Jones his female out on the court, Jones has crossed that line.

Lakers' Jackson fumes over Jones' defense on Bryant

Posted May 26 2009 7:56AM

DENVER (AP) -- Lakers coach Phil Jackson accused Nuggets guard Dahntay Jones of playing "unsportsmanlike basketball" by intentionally tripping KobeBryant during Game 4 of the Western Conference finals Monday night.

Jackson's accusation came after Los Angeles fell 120-101 to Denver to tie the series at 2-all. He became the second coach to call Jones dirty during theplayoffs, joining Byron Scott of the Hornets, who said the same thing in the first round.

The Lakers coach was upset with what he deemed inconsistent officiating that resulted in 49 Denver free throws -- 14 more than the Lakers.

"There's another situation out there tonight that was unacceptable by Dahntay Jones," Jackson said. "Just unacceptable defense, trippingguys and playing unsportsmanlike basketball."

Jones stuck his right foot out while Bryant was cutting to the basket for a possible rebound late in the third quarter and Bryant went sliding across the lane. There was no call, and Bryant argued with referee Bennett Salvatore.

Asked if he felt Jones went out of his way to trip Bryant, Jackson replied: "Yes. It's not the first time it's happened in this series."

Bryant tried to stay away from the question when asked about it moments later -- sort of.

"I just fell on my face for no reason," he said. "I'm a klutz."

Was Jones playing him dirty?

"Good defense," Bryant said.

Jones, a defensive specialist who starts for the Nuggets, has been charged with hounding Bryant at the start of the first and third quarters. In Game 2, he hadfive fouls by the middle of the third quarter.

He said he wasn't bothered by Jackson calling him dirty.

"Just playing hard," Jones said. "If he can't respect it, I'm sorry. I'm trying to be aggressive and give it all I have out there. My teammates appreciate it."

Especially Kenyon Martin, who has also been accused of dirty play.

"You're a dirty player now. Welcome. It's an elite club being considered one of those," Martin said when told about Jackson's comments.

In the first round of the playoffs, Scott was upset with the way Jones guarded Chris Paul.

"I can appreciate anybody that plays hard, but when you get to the point where you're being a little dirty, that's the thing that kind ofaggravates me," Scott said.

The Jones-Bryant tangle was only one of Jackson's issues after Monday's game.

He let the refs know he was mad by refusing to quickly insert a replacement for Luke Walton after Walton fouled out with 4:05 left. Refs hit the Lakers with adelay-of-game warning, then Jackson brought in Shannon Brown.

The coach was upset with a sequence during which Walton got a technical foul after arguing a no-call against Nene, who appeared to have elbowed Walton as hewas cutting across the middle. Walton picked up four personal fouls over the next 4:25.

"The referee gave him a technical then subsequently gave him three consecutive fouls out on the floor," Jackson said. "That kind of disparity wedon't like in ballgames. That's not equal refereeing and those are the things that change the course of games."

Nuggets coach George Karl complained about the whistle after Game 3, a 103-97 Lakers win. The Lakers shot 14 more free throws in that game.

The teams have combined for 160 free throws in the two games at the Pepsi Center -- 80 apiece.

George Karl.

Last I checked, but when you're down 2 - 1 in a series and then have the balls to say you think you should be ranked #1 outta the 4 teams still left in theplayoffs, thas yappin imo.

Not to mention how much he smiles and jokes when he wins a game, but looks suicidal after they lose.

The bottom line is this... Denver has finally figured out that they needed to be a little more physical and rugged. I don't know why they were trying toadjust to play some finesse ball when the type of aggressive play they had against Dallas is what got them here. On top of that, hard defense is theLakers' kryptonite. They played their worst ball of the entire playoffs when the Rockets was up in that *!!. (nh)

I also think Denver is better when the offense does NOT flow through Melo.
