OFFICIAL Ye fka "kanYe West" x G.O.O.D. Music Thread - ¥$ (AKA YE X TY DOLLA SIGN) - VULTURES 2 (NOW AVAILABLE sorta)

Ezrin's article wasn't too far off base. There does seem to be some underlying issues that he has with Kanye which comes across as a personal attack.

Wasn't too far off base ? What part was accurate?

He said Kanye is not creative.
We won't remember his music 20 years from now (We are 12 years into his career now)
Kanye isn't on the same level beat wise as Rick Rubin and Timbo

Ye's rants are more popular than his music

Again which statement is true?

He's ignorant and doesn't know **** about hip hop
I don't think he is that creative
He doesn't write his own raps
He has damn near 20 producers on every song he does
His shoes are just and mashup or complete ripoff of shoes already out
His clothes are just torn bum clothes
Kanye isn't on th same level as Rick Rubin
Not sure about timbaland cause I think timbaland overrated
His rants are more popular than his music now
Probably the only way he really stays in the limelight is cause of his rants
Dude has turned into a straight female with this diva like attitude
And these dudes that support this bs I question how zesty they may be

What about all the suburban kids who love Kanye
They don't have no connection with the culture
But he don't seem to have a problem with them when they like his music
It can't be just one way

News flash all races live in the suburbs and if you listen to hip hop, watch the videos and go to the shows how are you not a part of the culture?

This guy is uniformed and ignorant. Has no business speaking on something he has no idea about.

That song with Sampha is flames !!! Would've been top 3 on TLOP for me.

Need that CDQ to drop asap. But knowing him, I won't hold my breath on that.

You gotta be in the hood to be in the culture?
Where did the hip hop culture originate from??? The hood
What does it talk about in its music??? The hood
The hood is what hip hop is mostly about when u hear the stories in the music
Idk man it's just weird how people give Kanye all kinds of passes for his behavior
For his subpar quality musically
Only other person I've seen get that kinda pass
"Is the snake in camels clothing"
Kanyes "big brother"
Jay "the snake" Roberts
And it's funny cause
Y'all give drake hell for not being from the hood
Now oh u u ain't gotta be from the hood
People ***** and Moan when suburban kids get on their artist
Because then they feel their artist is main stream or sold out

Have you watched any of is videos? His music isn't creative?. His concerts? Timbo is overrated . but can you name anything Rick Rubin has done without googling?

Kanye doesn't have dope beats though? At some point a lot of the big producers gather a team. Kanye isn't gonna chop up samples he's not in the same position he was in 12-15 years ago.

You gotta be trolling fam

Not responding to the rest sounds like personal issues you have with him

So because a person goes to a show
And watches videos they are apart of the culture????
Whose to say that Ezerin dude ain't part of the culture then
He went to a few shows and watched videos
Fade to black as an example
How with what u stated in ur post
A person can be apart of the culture
That dude ain't
I don't agree with him
I'm just pointing out ur logic

It's really an archaic way of thinking. I don't argue with those folks. They hate drake cuz he ain't talking about hood **** but if he tried to they would be the first ones saying he's not authentic  it's a lose lose. Some people just feel like if you ain't from the hood you can't rap. Or if you're not then you have to speak on social issues . It's silly but it is what it is. Can't argue with those ppl. in actuality 90% of their favorite artists didn't do **** in the hood either...

And furthermore idk why that **** is deemed cool anyways. If you actually know intelligent ****** in the hood they ain't tryna be there...nobody wants to do the **** they gotta do. Only ppl that think that lifestyle cool is ignorant folks

Bruh I was born in 85
I don't need to google to know what Rick Rubin has done
I ain't one of these kids who prolly never heard dude until 99 problems
Or first heard of him when he was chillin on Jay the snake couch during those Magna Carta commercials
Also I never said he didn't have dope beats
Ur letting ur fandom for dude cloud ur argument points
I'm not tryna hate on dude
I leave all my hating for Jay
I'm just saying I don't like the direction he been in
And his music hadn't been up to par for a few years
And that as of NOW
He's overrated

This is all true (besides the timbaland being overrated part, ye his not on his level at all)

Over the years I realized that besides looping sampled beats in the past Kanye doesn't really do anything, he has a team of writers, a team of producers, his shoes are just renditions of previous models, and he stole his new found fashion from the walking dead season 4. I don't see what's so creative about him.

You have to take yourself out of just the hiphop genre to understand what he was trying to get at.

In my opinion, Kanye has flashes of brilliance and does wonders when he uses samples that a lot of folks who mainly listen to hip hop wouldn't know but his rants/temper tantrums and calling for white reviewers to not talk about his album is comical. He wants to appeal to a broader audience (not in a pop way) but then lashes out when people critique him.

Timbaland has been trash for a decade now but is forever a legend for his late 90's/early 2000's work.

Y'all need to learn the difference between a beat maker and a producer.

The beats on TLOP weren't just emailed to him lol. He'll take stems from like 10 different producers different beats and mash them up, take this out, add this.

It's like that quote from the Steve Jobs movie: "Some people play instruments, I play the orchestra."

Lol. This why I hate the social media age. Ppl feel like they know cuz they read some crap on the Internet...

Y'all really think Kanye just opened up his emails picked a beat and read his lyrics off a text that someone sent to him or something and boom, new song.

Kanyes openly acknowledges the writers who come in and write for him. Go ahead and keep overrating that man

You know what, I'm not going to take anything away from Kanye, dude is responsible for a lot of great hip hop from 03-10. He made spaceship :smokin he will always be that dude.

What a clown..... Debuts a song at a night club that's not on TLOP where he actually wrote his raps down

But leaves us with the freestyle verses on TLOP

unlike other creators in his genre like Jay-Z, Tupac, Biggie or even M.C. Hammer for that matter, it’s unlikely that we’ll be quoting too many of Kanye’s songs 20 years from now. He didn’t....address social issues through his music like Marshall, Macklemore and Kendrick.
