Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I can't wait for HBO's True Dectective
it looks like it's going to be :hat  and it's featuring my favorite actor Woody Harrelson

That looks good, but I can't say I'm too excited about some of HBO's other new series offerings. Neither Masters of Sex or Hello Ladies interest me that much. I might check them out, but my expectations are low. I am looking forward to the new season of Boardwalk Empire, however.

I was arguing with one of my boys a few weeks ago that Ong Bak and the Protector were the same movies. Ong Bak was the Thai title and The Protector was the US :lol
Needless to say I was completely off

Well. They aren't that far off. :lol

I'm shocked there wasn't another "The Protector," before now. Me and my boys were :eek over the first one back in high school.

anybody see the iceman? i remember seeing the hbo documentary back in the late 90s or early 2000 of the iceman. it was a crazy documentary/biomentary and my mind was blown. was hoping to rent the movie. is it worth the gas or what?

^ Iceman would've been phenomenal if it had a solid director however Shannon really carries the film & makes it a good watch. Very impressive actor. Great movie to rent from VOD or red box.

I watched that doc as well when I was like 13. Wild story.

Started watching The Great Gatsby last night.

Got late so turned it off with about 40 minutes or so left.

Meh. So far it's "ok" I guess, but hasn't blown me away or anything. I do like Leo's performance so far and that of Nick's character, those two butting heads is pretty good, loved the scene where Leo snaps.

Tobey is pointless to me so far tho. Starting to wonder about him, I thought Spiderman was going to unleash him, instead he seems sort of hanging by a thread.

See how it finishes tonight I guess.

I haven't watched it myself, but my wife loves that movie, and she has said he was good in it. I look at it as a plus on his resume, but can't vouch for it personally or anything. Just from word of mouth, which is enough for me as long as I trust the person telling me.

I doubt I will ever watch that movie honestly. :lol

Cider House is a good movie. Good performances all around, including Tobey. That was the first thing I ever saw Charlize in and she looks great ... mostly. But it is long, slow at times and pretty heavy in a lot parts, so I could see why someone wouldn't be in a rush to watch it.

Another movie with Tobey that I like, in which he's pretty good, is Wonder Boys with Michael Douglas and RDJ. Its a quirky movie, but enjoyable.

I'm really bummed that this isn't getting a wide release in the US. This book, and the series of books thereafter, is amazing. This movie looks EXACTLY how it should for the first book. I've read there was some sort of "trouble" with how/when it would release, now it looks like it's being skipped altogether. :{

Hopefully someday it will hit Blu Ray, and hopefully they will make sequels, even without a US mainstream audience.

Oh my god, I became so disinterested in Sons of Anarchy so much on Season 3. This absolutely sucks. I think I'm done.

It's been 5 episodes of the same ****. Are you kidding me?

Starting Homeland.... Gonna do my best to get caught up before September 29th. :hat

Or at the very least, I'll be caught up by Episode 3 or 4.

Homeland had an all time great first season. The second season didn't live up to my expectations, but it was decent.

I only caught the last 45 minutes or so of Wonder Boys, but I loved it. I need to see if it's on Netflix and watch the entire film.

Man Prisoners was a very well made movie, but because of the content and subject matter, I can't say that I like it.

It makes me want to sleep with my gun under my pillow

It did look like it had potential to be a decent/solid movie.
