Still zero desire to watch any movies

I made it through Thor 2 last week and.... that's it. I've had Blue Jasmine for a week, finally sent it back because I'm just not going to watch it. I'm going to eventually, of course, but yeah. It certainly seems like my depressed to-go move is marathoning TV shows rather than movies. Maybe because it's easier to check Facebook every 5 minutes when I'm watching TV than a full movie.. I don't know

Having said that, I have made it through seasons 2, 3, and halfway through season 4 of Friends the last week I'm debating if I should just keep going even though the show falls off, or just repeat after season 5 or so.. I forget when it starts to get bad, but I think I'm going to find out soon.

I am reminded of how awesome this show really was. Yeah.. the group only dated like one black guy in New York City and the later seasons had plenty of eye-rolling "How is this so popular?" moments, but the early years were classic sitcom seasons. The writing is sharp and clever. The characters are certainly more tame and traditional compared to the last decade of sitcoms, but they're still well written and performed well by all the actors. The serialization of the story is a nice contrast to a lot of modern shows that don't seem to keep up with a plotline for more than 2-3 episodes. And while it's hardly gripping drama, the "challenges" of being a twentysomething isn't the most important "issue"... but the show still addresses those problems very well. I don't know if it would be as funny if I didn't grow up on the show and watch reruns all the time, though. I think it holds up pretty well, but I'm also pretty biased because I was a huge fan of the show growing up.

I'm still bummed and she's returned from vacation so I have to deal with her again at work and resisting the urge to check Facebook I am doing better, though. I just don't have anywhere to vent I used TAN a few times. My best friend and I e-mailed a few times back and forth over it but I think he's done listening.

I also tried to relate it to TV and movies a bit so give me a break I needed an outlet

big J you'll be oK.....u ever thought about deactivating your profile or if not even just delete her off your list so that this way you don't constantly check or see her profile/updates/likes of whatever.
Also friends was a good show. Idc what anyone on NT says, but then again NT just likes to go against anything that's popular.

Just started watching the red road seems interesting. What movie can you guys recommend me to stream on netflix? Either a good action drama or scary movie hopefully one where they show. (.)(.)

I have plenty of go-to movies that I love and can watch a million times, I just have zero interest in sitting through a movie. Even if I just put it on in the background.. I'm just like "ehh"

I went through a similar phase with movies probably a couple years back... and there was no reason for it. I had La Vie en Rose from Netflix for literally 3 weeks and never opened the envelope and then just didn't watch a new movie for like a month or two. Then I started going through 3-4 new movies a week. I certainly have plenty of movies to watch. My Netflix queue will never been empty but I've felt like this before the breakup so it's not directly related.

I am enjoying the hell out of Friends at the moment, though. So that's good.

i know exactly how you feel. When you watch so many, you become burnt out. It happens to me once a year at least. I'll go 2-3 months without watching more then 3-8 films a month. And then over the span of 3 months I'll bang out 50-70 films

I'm looking to truly get my foot in the door, whether it's actual PA work or office, clerical work (for starters) for major film/television production companies. Just wanted to get any tips/tricks, or heads up of productions that may be hiring.

NY area since that matters here. Good lookin fellas for any help you may be able to provide .

Agree with this. She doesn't do the broad, goofy stuff, but her timing and delivery is very good. She definitely makes me laugh in Office Space and Along Came Polly, among other things. In fact, even though I haven't like any Adam Sandler movies since the 90s (unless you count Hotel Transylvania), I might check out the one that Aniston is in because I heard she was good.

Well, the overall theme of the story is government controlling the masses, obviously.

But how?

Through fear, pitting people against each other, segregation, and elitism (which is a form of segregation).

And the racial implications of District 11, anyone who can't see what was going on there is blind, or in denial.

My favorite element of the movie, however, is exactly what the REAL point of the story is: Katniss' character. No part of her WANTS to kill. In Catching Fire, the peaceful approach she used in battle in Hunger Games doesn't work, and she learns that QUICK... but still, she's #winning (no Charlie Sheen), and how? Killing them w/ kindness. While the gov't is pitting people against each other, using 'Peacekeepers' (

) to forcefully impose their will, changing the rules of the game (Catching Fire) to fit their agenda, no matter what, in both games she's in, she's... peaceful.

When a gov't is using fear and control to manipulate the masses, being angrily fighting back will accomplish nothing but a bruise for you.

Keep your composure, and be ready to take advantage of whatever peaceful opportunities arise to protest.

Has a very V for Vendetta feel to it when you look at it that way.

And the first one, Hunger Games, I feel like that was reflective of what the metropolitan public school system has become: a warzone for youth. where 'Only the strong survive' is the accepted mantra. Someone comes through all peaceful like, and comes out on top.

And I've tried to talk to so many people about these different elements.

"Iono, bro... I just think it's a cool story. Think you're just looking too deep into it."

Just saw Catching Fire last night w/ my girl.



Mmmmaaaannnnn, just like The Happening, I have a feeling nearly everyone is completely missing the point, and the societal implications are going way over the collective heads of viewers.

Teens just watching it because they're supposed to, dudes just watching it because of Jennifer, females just watching it because it's a female main character/heroine, and movies buffs just watching it because it's killing it at the box office. Meanwhile, the overall message... is lost.

LOVED Catching Fire, and can't WAIT for Mocking Jay.

And JLaw.

i suggest you temper your expectations, Mocking Jay is the worst book of the 3

I'm definitely not perusing it as a profession. I just do the website and critic stuff as a hobby, I just happen to have been doing it for a long time that I'm now somewhat respected. That was always the goal, and the site makes a few dollars here and there.

The best way is to go to film school if you're trying to get into the technical side, NY Film School academy is great, maybe that's a route

I loved that movie, mostly because my daughter loved it. It's typical Sandler, but Jenn clearly is worth viewing, along with Brooklyn Decker and even Minka Kelly. (Cameo)

This is all pretty cookie cutter stuff thats been done before and its not like the movies are even subtle about it, they beat you over the head with the imagery and dastardly politicians.

My girl is a huge Hunger Games fan, and I was legit attracted to the fact that we can talk morays and ideologies and implications and what not.

That's exactly how I feel. I didn't read any of the hunger games books and enjoyed the hell out of those first 2 movies.

My nerdy friends were like "eh they're alright, the book was better."

I'm like OKAY, but WHO WAS TALKING BOOKS!?

DID YOU LIKE THE MOVIE OR NOT? period.

I loved them.
And if reading the books makes your expectations so high that you're so easily disappointed then I'm happy that I'm choosing not to read the books.

Well that is very good, but I'm not a reader of the books. 

So I don't hate the third one as a reader of the books.

Again, haven't read the books.

If all the bookreaders are collectively agreeing with each other that it sucks... good for them.

I caught the political implications of Catching Fire. Seems a lot of movies I've watched have had that direct message or similar metaphor to drive their movies and most of them aren't that good (Attack On Wall St, TDKR, In Time, Ender's Game etc.) which is why I didn't mention it when I reviewed the movie.

Kinda.

Every book was worse than the one before, they're written on a 9th grade level, and the author really liked to ignore worldbuilding and just get tunnel vision on whatever Katniss was eating or wearing right now. Any time important sci-fi or world stuff was gonna get explained, it'd be like..."hmm, I'm hungry...there's some great roasted potatoes at home? Oh, we're 4 hrs later and the smart people are done talking? I miss Peeta, but as a friend."

2nd book had the best setup, so I knew the movie could improve on just about everything and be great.

Last one...the first 1/3 of the book is just trash. But then, there's 100 straight pages that are the best of the whole series. And then... .

So there's just crazy room to improve. If they push all of those 100 pgs to the last movie, this next one might be kinda weak, though.
