Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I've yet to rewatch Man of Steel since i saw it in the theater. I really liked it but I feel a 2nd time around I'll start nitpicking stuff too much.

^^^ I didn't think MOS was bad by any means, just thought is was a very by-the-numbers superhero movie. Nothing particularly special about it.

McNulty was all that but that's what made him hilarious to me. He had such serious problems and refused to acknowledge or address them :lol Most serious to me was his alcoholism. They kinda passed that off on the show as almost normal.

:lol Him and Bunk man, Bunk with the pink robe setting his clothes on fire to get rid of any traces ***** DNA :rollin

Bunk was gold.

Yet you prefer the 78-81 versions which are terrible compared to MOS.

They're not though, at least not 1 and 2. 3 and 4 are definitely weaker. But its all subjective. Cool for you that you think MOS is a great movie. I just don't see it.

I think part of the problem is that there's such an oversaturation of superhero/comic book movies these days. There's a new one out every six months or so. They're just starting to seem repetitive to me.

I hear you perfectly there, new ones every few months can sort of water down, I agree with you, no problem there.

But that doesn't make 1-2 better in any way shape or form this movie. Watered down or not, every detail of this film is better than the OG's minus the score. (78 score obviously very famous)

Everything else about this film was better than those. Clark, Jonathan, Martha, Lois, Perry, Zod, and you can flip a coin between Crowe or Brando, but to me Crowe had much better effect on the movie than Brando did.

I've tried to really like MoS, but after each viewing I'm always left scratching my head wondering: how did it go from such a deep, interesting non-linear origin story in the first 2/3s of the movie, to straight up Michael Bay Transformers action scenes in the last 1/3?

Almost everytime I watch MoS again, I snooze through the final 1/3 of the movie.

The first time watching it in theaters, sure the action scenes and whatnot were dope. But after multiple viewings, it just disappoints and doesn't really hold up

Id love to see crowe in an origins of an origin film :lol that world looked bad ***

He has a comic series. I wouldn't mind, Crowe can play him. Jor el is half politician, half scientist, half badass. Crowe ccan essentially reprise his gladiator role.

I liked Man of Steel. I also don't read comics or know what they messed up. Story and acting was money. I liked the guy that played Spider-Man. I would give it a B-

Saw X Men last night. It was cool. The fights were pretty amazing. The story itself was boring to me though. Still enjoyed it.

Watched the controversial (at least around here) Man of Steel last night. I didn't think it was an abomination, but didn't think it was great either. It was strongly ok. The parts were there - just didn't come together for me. The best way I can describe my issue with it is to say I felt it lacked heart. No humor or real depth to the characters. I'd take the old Chris Reeves Superman over it any day.

You perfectly summed it up in less than 5 pages. I couldn't do that. :lol

But yeah. I've tried rewatching it many times, and I keep giving up, because it's such a hollow movie.
Gonna try watching the Reeves 1 & 2 as well, cuz I haven't seen em since at least hs.

Would anyone else date Julianne Moore's character? Always had a thing for her. I'm into older women, redheads, and her personality was fun in the movie.

You seen Chloe? See Chloe. Ever since Boogie Nights, I liked her.

She said I got you that good porn. That's exactly how love starts. :lol

I only watched a few minutes of Chloe. Need to rewatch her scenes with Amanda Seyfried again. I need to find me a Julianne Moore lookalike.

And to kind of predict CP's response.. just because Man of Steel had it's "emotional" moments, doesn't mean they landed.

That's where it was a bit paint by numbers rather than authentic storytelling. If they worked for CP and others, then awesome.. that's not even sarcastic :lol But the more I thought about it the more I started to turn. I actually haven't rewatched it since I first saw it because I kind of think I'd be more negative on it.

I will re-watch it soon, though.. just to give it another full review and consideration.

Saw Julianne recently in Non-stop. She wasn't looking her best, but did a fine acting job. Solid movie all around. Not as good as Taken 1 or anything, but Liam does his thing and it keeps you interested.

I made a post about Rectify a few pages back. Really liked the first season and looking at Abigail Spencer is always a plus. I don't have the sundance channel anymore so i'll have to dl the second season when it finishes.

What are your favorite ****** movies?

Point Break is legendary. Eh. Maybe just anything with Keanu where he's not Neo (... but sometimes still playing Neo????) is unintentionally hilarious

Con Air anyone???!!!
"PUT THE BUNNY BACK IN THE BOX" > life itself

So, do you historically not like Wes Anderson films? Wow. I respect your knowledge and passion about film, but you and I have very different taste.

I loved Moonrise Kingdom, one of my favorite films I've seen over the last few years. But that's the only film of his I've liked
