Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Review: Foxcatcher - Frighteningly mesmerizing, Bennett Miller’s true story plays out like a horror film. Channing Tatum is at his career best, while Steve Carell will have the Oscars knocking with a completely transfixing performance - http://wp.me/p2CCWq-3Qk

Why didn't anyone tell me that the climax of Observe and Report was so damn funny? :rollin

The movie overall is pretty average especially for a Rogen movie but that climax :lol A fat(ter?) Seth Rogen as a mall security guard thinking he's as skilled as a cop crazily in love with Anna Farris bugging out at her job and then fighting off a whole squad of real police officers with night sticks on some Rumble in da Bronx steez until he gets handled by Ray Liotta :lol

Son :lol I probably should watch this over to fully let it sink in. Dude must've been like semi-******ed this whole film. Son shot a pervert in a mall for flashing, then personally took him to the cops covered in his blood. So absurd.

Watching the Veronica Mars movie. I can't explain why, but I really think the celebrity ILF most is Kristen Bell. Just something about her. Seems like she'd know what she's doing.

I've posted this like 4 times since I've been a regular in this thread but ..., Aliens man, so good. On IFC right now.

Nic Cage aint far behind :hat

I've only been a fan of SNL for about 5 years, so maybe this has been the norm and I'm off base here.

We all know the show is struggling, but to me it seems the hosts are all members of the cast who retired within the last 1 or 2 years.

Like, you quit SNL, but Loren let you  come back to host SNL the following season. (don't get me wrong I'd take that check to host as a prior cast member)

Something seems off when half the old cast is half of the Host book for the season. I don't know, like I said, fairly new fan but give me something else man, nah mean

:lol The first thing I thought when the show started. I was like there's way more former cast members as hosts than their use to be and it's almost like celebs aren't that up to being on the show anymore since it fell off especially cuz the ones that do it don't have funnier shows anyway.

So you gotta a lot of former cast who are all doing movies at the same time in good movies but overall the general audience seems to want them to be comedic stars more than they actually are and they really haven't reached that level or put in enough time while in the limelight.

Talked about it before but the time where the greats were coming out of SNL and weren't that far apart from each other as cast members is done. We got a lot more okay acts coming out of there.

Won't be surprised if Jason Sudeikis hosts this season.

Fallon, Wiig, and Fey have come back a few times each, Hader, Samberg, Ferrell, Poehler, Silverman was on the show for I think 1 year so she doesn't quite count. And that's really it the past few years. Over 22 episodes a season, it only ends up being a few a year, which isn't too bad. They definitely pop back up pretty often as a guest appearance for a sketch.

A lot of times they're either doing the regular promotion for a movie or TV show or it's the premiere/finale episode so you bring in a fan favorite/old cast member.

The show's biggest issue is just the writing at this point. They've had capable actors, but even with their strong cast members, the sketches are just flat and repetitive. The cold open is always the same political sketch and it's basically "Look, we paid attention to what's happening this week". Too many sketches just kind of trail off and end... you can tell if they didn't have the applause meter, the audience wouldn't laugh or know it was over. Sketches don't have a payoff or twist at the end, it's just the same joke, repeated 3-4 times with a different set-up.

You don't need big names or future stars to have a funny show... if anything, that hurts sometimes. We all knew Wiig was the strongest female they had in years, we all know she'd be in movies and eventually move on, and we had to deal with 4 recurring sketches a week with her front and center. So when they have that strong star, they can lean on them too much rather than think of new or more clever sketches. I love Wiig... but if I had to watch Gilly one more time, I would have lost my mind :lol Target Lady too

I think it's hilarious. Michael Pena is funny as hell.

I've decided that Steve Carrell is, in fact, a good actor. When's he's taken on dramatic, or semi-dramatic roles, he's delivered. Little Miss Sunshine, Crazy, Stupid, Love and now Foxcatcher. I would argue that his performance in 40 Year Old Virgin was a good acting job too. I hope he continues to take challenging roles and not just straight comedies.
Don't forget the way way back. He was such a prick in that movie.

Saw the trailer for Foxcatcher in from of The Equalizer today. Very excited.

The Equalizer was a lot better than I exlected. Was expecting more of a romp.

cosign and down payment

This sums it all up for me, which may be why I think only former cast are hosting, it's too familiar and not my kind of dejavu honestly.

Sidenote: 30 minutes in to Dracula, I'm a fan

saw live die repeat :rolleyes . great movie. liked the story. cruise was great. dude can still carry a movie. whomever promoted this movie should be banned from the movie industry for a year. wonder if they would do another part. graphics were great. 7.2/8.

Yo what the ****? House of Sand and Fog is a horrible story. Talk about a get out of your seat and make you pissed off flick. The plot while practical and believable just got so absurd at the lengths this simping rent a cop went. It just disgusted me. Mostly the ending that had me like :{ :eek Such a foul turn of events. Then my dude SIr Ben just loses all hope :{

Movie really grinds my gears.

The Affair is crazy just for having McNulty and Rawls in it sharing scenes together all over again. Rawls talking down McNulty like the old days :lol

Horrible Bosses 2 is coming out soon so...

I usually like when former cast comes back. It's usually not for a BS reason and it increases the chances of a good show. Unfortunately these days I look forward to old members reuniting on Fallon/Seth Meyers' shows more than a hosting spot on SNL itself.

It's my new "background" movie. When I'm busy workin on somethin, and just need background noise on, I put V Mars on and coast thru it. Really, really liked it, even without viewing the show.

If it's on HBO or something, then sure, throw it on.

Don't plan an evening around it, though.

I'd rather rewatch the original Bourne movies.

after watching it for the third time this summer i have to put american psycho as one of my top 3 all time movies and its probably one of the most underrated movies ever

it contains so many perfect scenes that are endlessly rewatchable and when you watch the movie as a whole its a superb satire and social commentary

also the movie is just hilarious

It's on Netflix.. Watched the last 2 Damon Bourne films after the Eagles game.. So was trying see if it's even worth the time checking out

Watch the 3rd Bourne film and stop there.

Thinking back on it Legacy wouldn't have been all that good if you replaced Renner for Damon. Story was just okay. Probably would've been better if they didn't confine it to the Bourne continuity and made it more action packed. The whole increase your IQ and maximizing your body's full potential drug/experiment were cool ideas.

Rachel Weisz can always get it though :evil

Watched The Affair.

Man McNulty has some weird kids.

The son pretending to hang himself. Who does that?

I like the events being told from Noah's and Alison's perspective which both of them have some key differences.

There's three sides to every story. I think we will see their sides for most of the season, and the truth finally revealed in the latter episodes.

I think it's obvious that someone died. It'll be interesting to see who died and how it came about.

McNulty and Rawls back together again.

Good to see their relationship dynamic hasn't changed. Rawls belittling him every chance he gets and McNulty despising him.

It's like a mini Wire reunion on TV right now.
