Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Couldn't Kalifornia, 12 Monkeys and Fight Club seal Pitt in already? Or even Legends of the Fall? Seven? ****, True Romance???? Ben Button? Burn after Reading? Inglorious?

He blends into roles pretty nicely. I guess I could see the point if you mean recently, but almost all of his early work was blending in rather well.

Don't forget his transformation & performance in Snatch...

Well...I think Pitt has done some really memorable, pretty great work, but so have Cruise and Cage. I just think today, they're more movie stars than great actors.

Don't get me wrong, he's legit. He never reaches, takes interesting roles and always handles them, it's just...he ain't touching Leo or anything.

sidebar: has Damon been ******g up since Bourne or is it just me? I mean, he was really good in True Grit, and not bad in Contagion, but it just feels like he's better than the movies he's been in.

Out of Sight was great because JLo was at her peak

Kind of crazy that Out of Sight pretty much IS J Lo's peak as an actress. I remember she was getting a lot of good press about her performance around the time the movie came out and it seemed like she was primed to be a consistent, A-list actress for a while. Then it just didn't happen. I think she can be a pretty solid actress but she just hasn't capitalized on the talent she has as far as acting goes.

I'll definitely watch Money Train again because of her if it ever comes on cable. (But not just because of how she acts in the movie).
That's cuz she basically disappeared and reappeared as a music artist. She went on cruise control with easy movie choices and focused on her music for a while. Then when trying to come back to movies it just wasn't there anymore, it was almost like she was the typical singer turned movie star that was only slightly more respected because of her cinematic past.

I haven't understood her movie choices since outside of the clear blockbuster ones and just getting a check.

Sheeeiiiiiittt looking at her filmography you can say her last good movie and role was Out Of Sight.

Don't think she could have a career among the best actresses but maybe something a little behind Selma Hayek.

I caught Fargo on AMC Monday and it's now one of my favorite movies of all time. Going to pick up the blu ray soon.

Just wanna say that I'm enjoying posting in this thread a lot! I'd always intended on posting more but I would forget about it when it was in the S&T forum. Quickly becoming one of my favorite threads.

I still love the first one, but am not at all excited for Hangover III. I know they're not following the same retrace-the-steps formula for the new one, which makes it somewhat more interesting. But I still don't see myself making the effort to see it in the theater.

Hangover 3? Yawn.

I don't know how anyone can stop watching The Big Lebowski after starting it. It's a classic.

Here read this - Todd Phillips assured everyone that this third film won't go down the same path as the first two:

story 1 - http://afterthecut.com/2011/12/06/whats-in-store-for-the-third-hangover/

story 2 on details on the new film and direction - http://afterthecut.com/2012/12/16/f...and-details-arrive-for-the-hangover-part-iii/

Hangover 3? Yawn.

this film should surprise people as long as Phillips stays true to his word and gets away from the formula of the first two.

The 2nd film i initially really didn't like but it grew on me. First one is and will forever will be a classic.

There's no redeeming qualities about the second Hangover. It's a heartless cash in. They rehashed the same script but changed a few names and words here or there.

If it were any other film copying the hangover, they'd be sued for plagiarism faster than Zack Gal drugs all his friends.

Sam Mendes won't be returning for the next James Bond film, instead he's focusing on the theater.

Disappointing for sure since Skyfall was so excellent, but I'll remain optimistic.

Just got wind of Hangover III.

I hate that I hate Hangover II but will still most likely see Hangover III. *sigh*

Just saw X-Men: First Class. What's the general consensus? Because I loved it.

Just felt... 'complete'. How their alliance ended, how he became paralyzed, how Prof. X started seeking out mutants, Wolverine...

"Go eff yourself." And they leave, like 'Alright then. We'll catch up with you later, bog dog.'

How Magneto's dark side came about, how Jennifer Lawrence looks amazing.

Now, there's supposed to be another one in 2014, right? Is that supposed to segue into the first X-Men movie back in 2000?

I think the general consensus on First Class is highly positive. Only thing I can remember people criticizing about it in here was Jennifer Lawrence's performance because it is kind of weak compared to her other work.

And yes, X-Men Days of Future Past is coming out in 2014. Its going to have the characters being played both by the people from the original 3 X-Men movies and the actors from First Class. I'm not sure how exactly the time aspect is going to work though.

First class is Casablanca after that mess x men 3

January jones was a bad casting decision. But you can get over that cuz she's hot.

That's my boy is funny if you don't pay for it. I like all of those dumb Adam sandler movies even when I try not to.

Thats my Boy is on STARZ on Demand so that's the only reason I'm watching it. After those 3 movies I'm headed back to my stack of unwatched blu's.

The consensus is strong, but it's got some issues. Continuity for one, outside of Magneto and Xavier it wasn't the best.. Lawrence and the Ice Queen in particular were terrible.

I think Lawrence was confused on how to handle a comic book role. I doubt she knew the material and just winged it.

Fassbender tho. :hat

It was much better than X-3 obviously and I have very high hopes for 2014.

January was terrible acting wise, but she looked great as did what's her name from Bridesmaids. That was a nice surprise.

At this point I say X2, X-Men, First Class, Wolverine, X3. With The Wolverine and FC2 to slot in in the next 15 months.
