Lethal Weapon was before my time and I still enjoyed the hell out of them.

Yeah, they're hard to compare. The Lethal Weapons are darker. While the Lethal Weapon movies have some funny moments, the Rush Hour films are more overtly comedic. I'd say the Lethal Weapon movies are better, but like Mr. O suggested, that might be a generational thing. I'd already been through the Lethal Weapons by the time the Rush Hour films started coming out.

It doesn't really surprise me when people haven't seen those kind of 80s/90s action movies. If you didn't see them at the time or on cable a half a dozen times later on, they're usually not the same and there's no a huge draw for a newcomer to jump in.
Now universally beloved movies like Lion King or Forrest Gump? Yeah, that always surprises me. Then it's "Certified old-school classics" like Godfather, Cascablanca, Chinatown, etc. that people who can't watch a movie prior to 1980 just avoid for whatever reasons or who just haven't been exposed to older classics... that I understand more.
But just for me, once I started getting serious about being a movie fan and once I got a Netflix account (or the internet), I added as many classics and most talked about or influential movies I could find. Even if I didn't like them, so many older movies are crucial to understand the history of film and influences on modern directors and movies. I'm never going to be watching a Tarantino interview and say "I know and have seen all those obscure directors and movies", but I like to be as educated as possible.

Thing is I loved 48 hours, beverly hills cop, both predators. Yes I liked the second one. The karate kids. Just for some reason lethal weapon was always put on the back burner. I know I've see chunks of the first though

Above the Law is the only one of his early work that doesn't do it for me. Don't know why.
Lethal Weapon 1-4 is about as solid a franchise as you'll find. There is NO letdown in any of them. NONE.

I didn't know Johnny Drama had a small role in 24 season 2. I swear, this Kim storyline is so annoying and straight filler. Can't stand her character. Every time she's on screen I just think "The Girl Next Door"

I really didn't realize until I finished the season and started the second how annoying some of the characters are.
The subplots are annoying as hell. I think i'm going to skip the rest of the seasons once I finish 2 and go straight to 5.

Yes, same formula with less and less worthwhile ideas each new season. Watching all of it sounds like such a chore to me.
