Prometheus turned into such a God damn mess. Watch them try to reboot it again to get to Alien. :{ :lol

That dude really screwed up an awesome premise. :{

I will say this though Jane Levy is a pretty version of Emma Stone just like Teresa Palmer is the pretty version of Kristin Stewart

Although flawed, I liked Prometheus better then Star Wars episodes I & II. For me, Prometheus made more sense the 3rd time watching it. I guess the plan was for more movies so it seems like they didn't divulge a lot of story/info? What is surprising though is they didn't have at least a plot line developed for additional movies.

Equilibrium is special. It came out before The Matrix, but I remember people going on about how it ripped off The Matrix. :{ It was the movie that taught me the Sean Bean rule. I remember trying to convince myself people could really do that gunkata **** if they learned it. :lol

And Taye Diggs. :eek 8o :Nthat

Did anyone recommend Children of Men to you. Cuz it's ****** up if they didn't.

Yeah I've seen Children of Men before. I think I'm goign to try 2010 next, although I hated 2001: A Space Odyssey. I remember watching it during high school physics class and I just fell asleep, the long scenes of straight silence did me in

Mmhmm.

That's not fair. :lol

I would probably love Prometheus if it was in Russian or something. If I could push off the problems with it, being some typa cultural disconnect, then cool. But so many technical things were just off as hell about it.

If you feel like it, just look at that Prometheus thread, a lot of good points came up in there. I'll give you this much, the first 40 minutes are amazing.

I didn't mean that as a dig (especially to CP1708). I picked episodes I & II because it was another notable sci-fi movie/franchise. I have Prometheus on blu ray but I've been catching it on cable (HBO I think). I like better the more I see it whereas I really can't watch episodes I & II (aside from the battle scenes).

I've read & even posted a lil bit in the Prometheus thread. Some of the ish discussed in there was down right silly though.

BTW, why is it when you channel surf & see a movie & then you see it again a few days later, you always come in on the same spot. I keep catching the end of Trainspotting during Tommy's funeral scene. That movie launched a lot of careers. One of the few movies that actually got how it feels to detox.

Good to see Chris Hemsworth get some more work. Is it a requirement for all Aussies to be good looking & good actors/actresses?

I still can't fathom just how bad NBC screwed up the jay Leno/Conan thing

All of that just to hire Jimmy Fallon a few years later who is the worst late night person I've ever seen.

I think I saw Prometheus about 5 times now. I still thoroughly enjoy it. But I'm an Alien nerd so I have an extreme bias.

Can't wait for Prometheus 2. I NEED to know what happens next.

Posted this in the Star Wars thread too. If you've got 7 hours to spare (yes 7 hours :lol), here's a detailed doc on the original Star Wars trilogy.

So yeah, just saw Prometheus. I think I got it but am I suppose to be missing something about the plot and mystery?
Do You Have An Idea For 'Prometheus 2'? A "Freaking Out" Fox Probably Wants To Hear It
by Kevin Jagernauth March 27, 2013 4:38 PM

680x478

If there is one (potential) franchise that continues to be a muddle of confused ideas, it's "Prometheus." We'll spare you the blow-by-blow (again), but generally speaking, Jon Spaihts wrote a script that was a (more) direct prequel to "Alien" (including facehuggers) like had been initially planned, and then Damon Lindelof was brought in and it became the movie you saw last summer (you can read about some of the differences here). But for all the supposed mystery of "Prometheus," Ridley Scott wasted no opportunity to explain away everything  and even toss in a loose tie to "Blade Runner" because why the **** not. So needless to say, the waters have become a bit muddied, and Fox is reportedly none too pleased.

Bloody Disgusting says that according to their sources, the studio and Scott himself are "freaking out" over where to take "Prometheus 2." As you might recall, Lindelof won't be returning  (which is why they are apparently at a loss of what to do), though there is apparently some movement with Noomi Rapace telling us recently that she met with Scott to talk about the movie. According to the horror site, the filmmakers "are taking pitches from basically anyone  who can crack the story" but why not just bring Spaihts back in who told Empire last fall that he had already planned and discussed sequels with Scott way back in the day? Well, allow us to make a few suggestions here.

Were there is smoke there tends to be fire, and if we were to take a wild stab in the dark, our guess is that Fox is concerned with a "Prometheus 2" insofar as it keeps the "Alien" brand as a whole alive. That's the only reason that movie got greenlit in the first place -- it was a famed director, returning to an iconic series (kind of) for the first time in decades, in something that wasn't just a bunch of monsters killing each other, which is what the franchise had devolved into. But with "Prometheus" finishing with Elizabeth Shaw and bionic Michael Fassbender traveling to some other planet to keep looking for the creator/main Engineer/God/whatever, it seems the whole point of this prequel got lost somewhere. This probably isn't really about making "Prometheus 2" so much as turning the story back toward facehuggers and other familiar tropes of the franchise. Again, that's just our guess.

For his part, Lindelof tweeted "I don't believe Ridley Scott has ever freaked out in his life" and in a lengthy email to Slashfilm, weighs in on Bloody Disgusting's report. "During the creative process of 'Prometheus,' all involved (that includes Fox and Ridley) had a strong desire for this film to launch off in its own way so that by the end, it would not connect directly to the original 'Alien,' but instead run parallel to it. This is something that I talked about many, many times in the press burst around the release of the movie," Lindelof said. "As you probably remember, there was a lot of interest as to whether Prometheus was a 'prequel' — the answer was, 'Yes. Sort of. But if there was a sequel to Prometheus, it would not be 'Alien.' "

Adding that his slate became busy as he started working with Brad Bird on "Tomorrowland," Lindelof insists that he's not the key to the future of "Prometheus" and more he feels there are any number of writers suitable to come on board. "As to whether Ridley and Fox are 'freaking out' about me not working on a sequel, well that’s news to me," he continued. "I retain awesome relationships with both. More importantly, the idea that there aren’t many, MANY writers out there capable of taking the reins is sort of ridiculous. I did not map out a trilogy and then walk when the going got tough. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know me and doesn’t know the truth."

And lastly, Lindelof clearly refutes this latest rumor: "...denying the story I am. I will take all the abuse in the world for the things I have done, but I refuse to take it for the things I have not. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it."

Long story short: dudes need a story for "Prometheus 2." Badass Digest adds, ”Fox has been taking many, many meetings with screenwriters, and that screenwriters have been pretty much bringing in their own pitches, not working within an established frame” which suggest that might be up for changing things up.

:lol
:lol This is so dumb. Why can't there just be stand alone sci fi flicks as usual? Prometheus does not need a sequel especially given this being some light prequel to Alien.

If they must though, call it Icarus and have Noomi's character confront the human-alien creators, explain why they created us Matrix style but with no KFC guy, then explain why they decided to kill us M. Knight Shamalamayadingdong style, maybe even throw in some detailed reason for why robot Fassbender killed that guy and set up his father I, Robot style and call it a day. Oh and kill Noomi's character in the end. Bring in Johnathan Nolan to co-write it. Boom. Then stop doing sequels and if they want to do Alien movies with those same lame tropes get Spielberg to do it.

:rollin @ Excitement 1995 being Shawshank Redemption. Words can not even explain how hilarious that is

7 hour doc on a trilogy? Isn't that called, watch the damn trilogy? :lol

And the way they did Prometheus, it needs about 2 sequels at this point. I damn near think Prometheus did more harm than good.

I know I'll never convince people but I really loved Prometheus. I might even have to watch it for the 6th time this week with an Alien bluray view right after.

Prometheus is EASILY in my several watches a year list along with Terminator, Predator, Alien, and a few others.

I'm with you man. I even bought it when it came out on blu ray. I realize and agree with the complaints people have about the movie, but still really liked it. My girl hated it.

One thing that I hated about it though, was when I went to see it was the same night Yeezy 2s released so I missed that :lol. Joints could of paid for some of my classes if I had a chance to cop

Oh, no. I just mean that's like saying the new Katherine Heigl movie's not that bad. It's better than Gigli. :lol

It's like...I personally don't care about answers that much. I mean, I love Mulholland Drive. Loved Triangle. I think Memento is a great film. I loved The Master...Tree of Life...Synecdoche, New York.

I don't need clear cut answers. When a film only asks a couple hours of you, it's not some terrible thing when you're left not completely understanding what you saw. Express yourself. I just care about an uncompromised vision. This is a deeply, deeply, purposefully compromised film. From David, who was a complex, compelling figure, until everyone wakes up and he becomes a different character every other scene to how they allowed the other characters to steal the film away from him. The backwards and stupid ways Weyland goes about trying to get what he wants. The technical issues of the crew disappearing and reappearing. Flashing to reaction shots that make no sense. The feeling that they technically lost a hold of the story they were telling. Just about everything that happens in the Engineer room after it wakes up. Weyland's part in the end. Noomi after the alien gets taken out. The unnecessary extra disconnection from the Alien movies. I mean they had their separations already, but then they just twisted the screws more and more until you had to make leaps just to see how it was possible that they got from Prometheus to Alien.

It's how they did these things. The dialogue is just terrible, and the story gets pretty insulting if you let yourself care. There's mystery, and then there's the Lost Haze. The Lost Haze is when a writer/director purposefully hides things from you, just because. Not because there's some grand reveal coming. Not because the mystery creates some greater meaning or emphasis. But because they think it makes it cooler. It's when people talk in Lost-speak:

Q: Where did you put the toothbrush?
A: I'm here for more than toothbrushes!
Q: Why did you hit him?
A: You wouldn't understand, but just give me time and I'll explain.
Q: What does this mean?
A: Nothing...everything.
Q: I just need an answer.
A: Well...[fade to black/cut to next scene]

And it always ends in people walking away from each other mid-convo with a dazed look in their face. It's just being a **** creatively. That's all it is. And the sum of it, is that in the end the fans, fans like you, will have created a better, realer, and more deliberately meaningful appreciation for what _____ is than the person who created it did. Prometheus is half trash, but the thought it brought out in people, was worth something. That was more thought about a sci-fi film than anything in years, so I guess that's a plus?

It was a great, great, amazing looking, nuanced and just...provocative sci-fi film, until the rest of the cast woke up.

And by rights, it knocked itself on its *** in the very first scene, when unknowingly to us, they robbed the dramatic weight of what the Engineer looked like, right up front and center. Why would you do that?

The biggest shame is that everything from the very first image of David to when the crew wakes up is brilliant. And the c-section scene was one of the most powerful, memorable things in any film from last year. This movie is frustrating, because it had every single thing going for it to be the best sci-fi film since Children of Men.

Loved Closer. That movie was really, really well done. Made me really like Clive Owen because he was awesome in that flick, until the way he was talkin to Natalie made me want to kick his ***. That's my girl. :o

And as for Jude, he was the only one of the 4 I hated. The other 3 were excellent, Jude was a freaking vag and shoulda been thrown off a building or something to make the movie better. :lol
Guillermo Del Toro’s Next Pic ‘Crimson Peak’ Casts Benedict Cumberbatch, Jessica Chastain, Emma Stone & Charlie Hunnam
By THE DEADLINE TEAM | Friday April 5, 2013 @ 11:36am PDT

gammasquadcrimsonpeak.jpg

Benedict Cumberbatch, Jessica Chastain, Emma Stone and Charlie Hunnam have signed on to star in Legendary Pictures’ haunted house thriller Crimson Peak, which will be the next movie to be directed by Guillermo del Toro and is set to begin shooting in January 2014. Del Toro originally wrote the ghost story script with frequent collaborator Matthew Robbins and had set it up at Universal; he now is giving it a rewrite with Lucinda Coxon.

It’s the turn of the century. So it’s at the turn of the century and half of the movie takes place in America, and the other half takes place in a crumbling mansion in Cumbria. And basically it’s a ghost story and gothic romance, trying to subvert the rules of the usual gothic romance…the first half is a love story, then that love story turns darker. And it’s at the same time a ghost story. I’m working at this moment with Lucinda Coxon who is a really great playwright from the UK. She has the proper degree of perversity and intelligence to turn it into something interesting to watch.

.....that's just awesome worlds colliding.
