Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

So What Exactly does Warner Bros. Have on the line with Man of Steel? And now we're hearing that Christopher Nolan who served as an executive producer on Man of Steel ISN'T a part of the upcoming Justice League film, all that and much more - http://wp.me/p2CCWq-2QV

Looking forward to The Way, Way Back... in addition to the promising cast and trailer, it's written and directed by Jim Rash and Nat Faxon, who besides being hilarious actors, wrote The Descendants and won the Oscar for screenwriting.

Did not know that. Gotta see it now.

Been a Steve Carell fan since The Daily Show and at this point, I think dude should be doing mostly serious roles and be a lot more selective on his comedy roles

Dogtooth is its own special brand of "horror."
Have I mentioned Dogtooth in here? Watch that !+%*.
:eek Why the hell didn't you keep pushing this? :x 8o

Where do I even start?

As ****** up as Dogtooth was, I think it's my favorite ****** up film, or at least it's right there with Oldboy.

It's one of the best films I've seen in years. It's like Lars Von Trier made a Wes Anderson movie. It'd probably be too much to tell you anything about the setup, the characters or the plot, beyond, indoctrination is a ************, and sometimes people go too far to keep their family together and obedient. But it's more than that. The script is just super creative. It has this really twisted, clever, sharp sense of humor.

There's a scene where the family gets on all 4s and barks to defend the house that's just so creepy, morbidly hilarious and a little touching that you'd swear David Lynch was behind it. It's such a lived in, ****** up, world. And for me, it's one of the most memorable movies I've seen in the last couple years. Just...I don't even know how to react to it. It will domestically abuse you. The menace is so laidback and understood, that it's like it is about the way things are in this family. It's like a psycho's American Beauty. It's a world created by the caller from Compliance.

I almost want to put it in the Martyrs and A Serbian Film class, but it's different. It's not brutal like that...but it is. It's not exploitative and graphic. But it's so real that it hit me as hard as those did. The basic filmmaking is so strong. It never plays to camp like those do. The acting is amazing all the way across and the composition of every shot is lowkey gorgeous.

Great movie. Not for everyone. Not even something you'd be quick to admit you've seen. 9/10

Three movies out this week, two of which I really want to see.

42, which most people know about. I may wait to see this once it hits DVD/Blu-ray.
Trance, which some people know about. I'll probably see this first since it will be in my theater tomorrow, and I'm excited for more Boyle+McAvoy+Cassel+Dawson.
Antiviral, which probably no one knows about. It's the feature-length debut of Brandon Cronenberg, and apparently it's very good. It was a hit when it went on it's film festival tour last year, but it's not showing anywhere around me. From IMDB: "After becoming infected with the virus that killed superstar Hannah Geist, Syd March must unravel the mystery surrounding her death to save his own life."

So, if I see anything this weekend, it'll be Trance.

can someone post up some links to lists of top movies.

the greatest movies of all time of 2012 etc..

foreign, anime whatever is clever.

i would really appreciate it, am im sure some others would too.

21? :lol

That's not even a top-100 card game-related movie.

Not even a top-100 Kevin Spacey-involved movie.

So?

I don't think it's a really bad list, just different.

And if you look at the description, I get the point. It's one of those, check what your post # ends with and watch that movie.

It's just...you gamble...maybe you lose. :lol

You're supposed to pick two random numbers and then watch those movies from the list.

The list has quite a bit of movies that I liked, which is why I posted it.

The list is solid.

I'm not dumb :lol I get the point but Crank and Alice in Wonderland aren't great movies.

Not a big deal, stop being so defensive, iYen.

Solid as diarrhea, buddy. That list blows bruh. You could top that from memory. I like plenty of meh movies, and they look like Godfather on that list. :lol

How is responding to your remarks about the list being defensive?

I didn't make the list, so I have no reason to be defensive.

So I was feeling that new Pusha track, and I love "The Long Good Friday", and I just downloaded some video editing software.

I present to you: The Long G.O.O.D. Friday

This is my second time doing anything like this. My first was right before this mixing "New York City Rage Fest" by Kudi with a scene from "King Of New York".

I'm going to take these classes and get myself a public access tv show in May, so I'm tryna get ready for that.

Anyone have any good ideas?

The list sucked. Lets just move on.

Anyway, didn't know this before but Riddick is releasing this year set for September. Can't wait :smokin

I liked the vid. I would say...the song has that strong bassline and a constant thump to it...

Maybe try and avoid static shots and go for ones with more motion and mood. The bigger flair and stylistic stuff. More moving camera and tracking shots, less dialogue and still shots. And maybe try and match up scene cuts with the beat breaks.

That last shot was great. :smokin

Good looks man. That's some great insight.

Whole time I felt like I could fit some more stuff in there to break it up as well as tighten up the timing. Thanks for real.

I'm bout to be up all night figuring out what I can whip up!

Today I added Supernatural, Friday Night Lights tv series, 6ft under, curb your enthusiasm, and modern family to my to-watch list.

What other shows that you just got through within the past year from your to-watch list should I add to my to-watch list?

I'm an action, crime, thriller, and drama kind of brah. In that order.

My suggestions would be: Boardwalk Empire(4/5 so far), The Shield (4/5 so far), Spartacus(5/5), Game of Thrones(4.5/5), Oz (4/5), and Band of Bros(4.5/5 so far).
