Hangover 3 was terrible, much worse than 2. Laughed maybe three times. Poorly written and desperate.
 
Anyone a Ridley Scott fan? Came across this hour long doc released in the 90s around the time he filmed 1492: Conquest Of Paradise. Not the best video quality but I was fascinated watching it last night before I went to bed.

Pretty much exactly what I expected based on the previews. No way I'm going to see it in the theater since I don't get there that much. I'd much prefer to spend my money on IM3 or Into Darkness.

Well, was in the works. It's on hold now because the director wants to do a comedy with Ryan Gosling.

That director? Nicholas Winding Refn (of Drive and Only God Forgives).

And who was he going to have star? Gosling.

He dropped out originally, but maybe the delay will put them together for it eventually. I still haven't seen Drive or Only God Forgives to be excited or unexcited about that, but.

Anyway, the point is... that !+%* sounds cool to me.

Edit: The script is already done. One of the writers wrote 28 Days Later, Sunshine and Never Let Me Go... :eek

I knew exactly who you were talking about as soon as you mentioned 28 Days Later and Sunshine. He's a phenomenal writer. I listened to the audio commentary of 28 Days Later and it was incredibly insightful. I have no doubt it'll be good.

Rob Zombie is interesting. His original work is far superior to his remakes. I haven't seen Lords of Salem, although I hear its not as successful as House of 1000 Corpses or The Devils Rejects.

As far as Halloween, purists will hate it. I personally didn't mind it. It's an extremely radical take on a classic, and it takes liberties where John Carpenter didn't. It's just too different for some people. Purists would've hated it no matter what, because I feel like during development, before anyone knew anything about the direction he was taking, they were already convinced he was going to bastardize the franchise.

The violence is often very gratuitous, and it is more violent and darker than anyone ever saw from a Halloween film. All the mystery and intrigue is taken away in the Halloween remake.

Truth is, it's better than any of the latter Halloween films that had the likes of Josh Harnett or Busta :lol

The sequel wasn't all that great though.

With all that said, Halloween is probably one of my Top-5 All-time favorite films, but I'm the kind of person who will accept a movie as long as its well made, and RZ's Halloween is well made. His best work is The Devils Rejects, but Halloween isn't as bad as it is perceived.

Fair enough. I can appreciate that perspective.

This is pretty much spot on as to why I don't like the RZ version of Halloween, particularly the part about taking all of the mystery and intrigue away. My least favorite scenes in the movie were those intended to give Michael Myers more of a back story. He doesn't need a back story. He's just evil. Period. That's one of the things that makes the original so scary. That's lost in the remake.
 
I mentioned it awhile back, but it's been reprinted (now that he has an actual publisher) and Alan Sepinwall's book is available for purchase again

If you're a fan of TV but want to go deeper, learn the histories, and get some great analysis, it's a tremendous read. It'll probably become THE book on modern television.
 
I LOVED both halloween remakes.

Watched Blow today. I hate salma hayeks character.

The ending song Push and Pull almost made me cry

I said the same thing about Nia when she popped on House of Lies this season. She may actually be improving with age, kind of like Jen Anniston did.

Definitely overplayed the Curbstreet Gang's character's a little too hard, but it was movie, I know. That female driver definitely reminded me of at least a hundred chicks I grew up w/, though.

And I'm sure the movie wasn't supposed to resonate this sort of thing at all, but I'm sure I'm not the only transplanted CA native that really missed home like 5 minutes into the movie. The look of the homes, the palm trees... it's so distinct.

Used to hate Fontana and Ontario and Etiwanda, but this movie made me miss it.

Speaking of, her new preview with her as a stripper is refreshing. I've been a fan of her since she was Rachel. Wouldn't want to date her, there's obviously an issue or 12 in there, but I'd touch her surely.

So glad that is on a network now. I caught the last hour or so a few days ago. Loved it just as much as the first time. Wes Anderson's imagination is a national treasure.

Been wanting to re-watch End of Watch lately, too.
