Here are the specs for the Computer that i have:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com...en&docname=c00610121
(HP Pavilion Media Center a1423w Desktop PC)

Long story short, I have 2 of these ram sticks
http://www.jr.com/kingston/pe/KGS_KVR667D2N51/
It says my computer is supposed to be able to run 2gb of ram.
I know each stick works because i tried them one at a time on each of the memory banks.
the only problem is when i try to use them together it only recognizes 1 stick.

this is driving me insane, i dont know if its a motherboard issue but i dont think it is because they replaced my mother board a few months ago.

if anybody can help me i would really appreciate it, thanks in advanced.

I tried updating the system bios but that didnt help

They're probably 2 different types of RAM. What type of RAM is it? 5400? 4200? You can't mix and match on some motherboards.
Kingston 1GB DDR2-667 CL5 SDRAM
240-pin DIMM gold contacts / Sixteen 128M x 8-bit / 3ns (min) 8ns (max) Clock Cycle Time (tCK) CL= 5 / 8 independent internal bank

I am using 2 of these sticks

ooo thats strange, why would my comp already have one of these inside it already.
i guess this should be the problem.
so i have to look for DDR2 400 or 533 Ram???
if so, can you point me to a link, thanks

Both sockets are prob. configured to run 1066 (533*2) or at 800 (400*2) speeds.
I don't know the ins and outs that well but I'm guessing that your motherboard is bottlenecking the speed of the sticks and only running them at maybe1066 max. I'm not sure as to the exact procedure for mobos when they encounter diff mem speeds/ overcapacity.

These are all the DDR2 533 that newegg has.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010170147%201052408147&name=DDR2%20533%20(PC2%204200)

For your PC I'd just pick the most cost efficient/cheapest. The cheapest 2 pack basically.

than you sir, i just ordered the kingston 2pack, i will update the thread after i receive them and try it.
