I just purchased an internal lite on dvd burner, and I want to hook it up to my laptop.
http://www.microcenter.co...phtml?product_id=0322335

there is the burner, and my laptop has both an eSATA port as well as usb 2/3 ports.
Whats the cheapest I can accomplish this (microcenter links would really help, since I'm really close to one of their stores.

Thanks in advance NT bretheren

Looks like you'll need something to power it. You could connect it to your laptop with just the SATA cable, but unless you have something to power it you can't use it.

return it and buy an external drive. they are the same price..

thanks, but this particular drive setup (Lite on ihas 124B specifically) is discontinued and I NEED this particular FW

I'll just buy a bunch of cables, or a sata power kit eSATA to sata adapter and a molex power kit and hope it all works out.  If anyone else can find a link, since I can't find it on the MC site, it'd save me tons of time and running around the store

Agreed, it's 2012 burners are going obsolete. It's much cheaper to burn images to disc.

yes, and i have, however old drives arent capable of writing xgd3 without truncating, and that inevitably will lead to unauthorized disc errors...

if you have an external hard drive you are willing to take apart, you can probably use the controller from the hard drive.
