I think this team is going in the right direction

Honestly I would unload Shady and DeSean if it meant more draft picks and a shot at the QB Chip wants

Shady has mostly 3 good years left in him if he stays healthy and I love him but I don't think he will be the same back when we are ready to contend and running back is the easiest skill position to fill in the current NFL

:lol no way in the world. Then we'd need a RB, 2 wide receivers in addition to all the holes on defense and the qb. Those guys are young...why give up a top 3 RB in the game for some picks? I'd want a kings ransom and nobody is doing that for a running back. Who among contenders even needs a RB that badly? Shady is 25 and isn't a bruiser so he doesn't have a ton of mileage on him he's got at least 5 yrs left. Desean is 26...he needs someone opposite him that is an actual threat since he's so slight, which is why we miss Mac so dearly. Our offense actually has 2 legit weapons and yes while we need to get the qb settled don't trade the only tools that likely rookie is going to have to rely upon on offense just for some draft picks, you can rebuild much faster in the nfl than say in the nba. We have a solid draft and plug some spots with FAs here and there for depth and we could be a 10win team as soon as next year. It's not gonna be a 3 yr project before we are a great team again, it better not bc Chip will leave if that's the case.

We aren't even gonna be in the running for a top 2 pick regardless bc I don't see Tampa or jax winning 3 games. And our schedule should net us at least 3-4 more if Foles is back and not a complete disaster like he was against Dallas.

you want to pay DeSean Jackson $10 million next year?

You gotta think like an NFL GM not a fantasy football GM; if you can get an additional first rounder plus some for Shady then I would do it

This is a passing league; running backs are interchangeable as long as you have the other pieces you can get by with a decent running back

Giants, Colts, Saints, Patriots, Packers, Steelers all won Superbowls in the past ten years and NONE of them had a stud RB

Money isn't really an issue for us.. And won't be for the foreseeable future, since we aren't going be paying some stud QB right right now

Here is our cap info: http://eaglescap.com

That site has us with $18,596,254 under the cap.. Without subtracting sopoaga's $3,750,000

Then we won't have the following:

Vick: $7,066,667
Maclin: $4,553,000

Then I assume Trent cole will restructure or he's gone.. Then you have guys like Patrick Chung.. I assume Nate Allen isn't coming back who also has a cap figure over a mill

I think Allen will come back if he continues his current play, but the safety position should be addressed regardless.

Maclin should be back on a prove his worth contract.

DeSean is a novelty WR and not a true #1

Sign Maclin because he will be cheap off injury and go get a big true #1 WR

Shady is a great player but without a QB you are going nowhere*

*See AP, Foster, etc

and all those moves will just fall into our lap though? ^

we all know better than that let's be honest, you don't give up on players who aren't showing a decline when there is NOTHING out there that's proven (draft) and available (free agents)

and like someone said earlier, what good does it do to draft your future QB and get rid of all his weapons? there's no chance to succeed that way

Thinking like a fantasy GM would be trading a 25 yr old who is leading the nfl in Rushing with an oline that has been incredibly inconsistent. Shady is elite, you don't trade a 25 yr old cornerstone. Every single one of those teams had a QB who is without a doubt top 5 in the game, aside from the Giants and even I was out of his mind those games; kind of mitigates them not needing a stud RB.

Well what is this team winning with those weapons? Not too much

This team needs a QB if Shady brings you pieces to get that QB in the draft I'm doing; nothing is certain just as much as Shady still being great in 3 years

You just contradicted everything you said

This is a passing league not a running league and I love Shady but if he could bring you a couple cornerstone pieces to build around you wouldn't do it? I sure as hell would

So you're saying trade them all for hopes that another team in desperate need of a QB in the next draft will give up their pick just to have an invaluable position player in today's current NFL? Like do you seriously see one of these awful teams who need a QB trading away a 1st or 2nd round pick for Lesean McCoy in a draft that is potentially loaded with QB's?

we're better off sticking with what we got and playing it out, and then drafting the best QB available in the first round next year. Even as bad as we've looked in two weeks we're not gonna out-suck the Jags and fall into a top 5 draft pick to get a QB.

I've used up my queue of draft talk already, i care about present day right now. Can't focus on hopes and wishes until the season is over and players actually declare for the draft

I'm only trading Shady for a kings ransom but Desean I'm trading and no way in hell I'm paying $10 million next season

This team is building for the future be real; you can either see that or pretend these chances you take won't potentially make a team better because this teams offense is mess right now

You may not find another Shady but you sure as hell can find backs good enough to work in the run game

^^ But why do we need to trade Shady? :lol Desean needs another wideout next to him he's a unique wide out not a big bruiser or someone who can run any route on the field. Hell put Maclin next to him and he'd be even more lethal. And its not like Desean isn't worth big money. Dude is 5th in the league in receiving or thereabouts. The offense isn't a mess bc of him, far from it. Remove his big play ability and we'd be abysmal. Not his fault Foles and Barkley and an injured vick played the last couple weeks. Yeah he has flaws but if you had a good wideout opposite him, then he would be even better. Dude isn't built to take double teams and fight threw press coverage. If we had someone like Mike Evans next yr or a Sammy Watkins, or even just keeping Maclin for another yr...not riley freaking Cooper then it'd be fairly obvious. You sound like our cap situation is in dire straights like Dallas or Washingto, we have TONS of money available paying a good player isn't an issue or hindering us in any way shape or form. Who would be stepping in if we lost Mac and Desean? We gonna throw a rookie qb out there with 2 rookie wide outs too and a less than dynamic back too? THEN you'd see a struggle offense. Our offense has been great for the first 4 weeks...then we had poor qb play. There is no reason to trade these players unless you get stud players in return, which ain't happening. Shady makes 2 yd gains out of 5 yd losses routinely....that doesn't grow on trees dude is special.

I said for the right price; say Oakland is willing to give you their 1st rounder because McFadden won't be back me year which is prob top ten; you wouldn't do that?

Desean didn't do much with Maclin the past two years did he? Our Redzone sucked with no big targets and still does

I'm not paying Desean $10 million next year which is the bottom line

This is all hypothetical so don't get so hurt about it

The playing calling, recievers, and qb have all played a role in with the poor redzone stats. We can keep Desean to stretch the field. and still add the big receiver, Maclin should be in slot, + the Tight ends is a good receiving core. Avant & Cooper need to go they can't get off coverage or do anything after the catch.

All this means nothing if we don't get the right QB.

Desean Jackson contract will most likely be restructured and if he's not he has no guaranteed dollars after 2014.

Lmao who's hurt? I'm simply discussing what you brought up, and I find the premise to be kind of ridiculous given circumstance. Andy/Marty's redzone playcalling left a ton to be desired and how is a 5-9, 170 wr going to be a threat in the red Zone anyway? We need to have a better big options than Riley Cooper and Brent Celek. And if you peep the stats Desean was having a great season before he got concussed last yr. and he'll no I'm not trading Shady for a single first roud draft pick. Oak lands not offering a top pick for Desean either. This is like playing fantasy football. Desean is having the best season of his career so far and you want to trade him. Some guys who make around 9million dollars like Desean: Dwayne Bowe, mike Wallace (both make 2-3 mill MORE), Miles Austin, Greg Jennings, victor Cruz, Andre Johnson, Pierre garçon aside from the studs that make more. That's the going rate for an upper level receiver. Who would be our wr tandem? We would win 4 games max with a rookie qb, league avg RB, 2 new wide receivers. It's not like they're old, if shady was 28-29 then yeah I'd consider that but he's 25 with many more yrs ahead of him. What would the point of moving them be? delay our retooling by even more years and Chip gets fed up and wants out bc by yr 3 we still haven't made the playoffs. Then we are back to square 1 with a new coach, new system and all the more worse for it.

Vick doesn't make great decisions in the red zone and chip is still learning clearly. We need the qb of the future, agreed, but surround him with as much talent as possible so he can at least have a shot at being successful. We need to give chip at least this coming offseason to get some more of his guys in here imo.

I never said for Desean; a 2nd at best is what'd you'd get for Desean, where did I ever say first? I'm not paying Desean Jackson legit #1 money at $10 million

I think you are way overvaluing the RB position on the NFL; AP is one of the greatest backs ever and where are they without a QB?

If I could get a top 10 pick for Shady and use that on a WR like Watkins and draft a QB then I'm pulling that trigger; signing Maclin and moving Desean. You can find a serviceable running back in free agency or give Bryce Brown the reigns with a drafted rookie backing him up.

I think it's time we stop making excuses for this offense year after year.

Maclin is probably untradable; I'd sign him because he will come cheap off any injury

Desean is really the one I wanna move

this is maclin's final year of his contract..

i say, let him sign some place else considering the little injuries/issues he's had so far (plus i think this is a 2nd major knee injury).. hope he has a decent season with his new team (which hopefully is in the AFC), then we can get a better compensatory pick

Kansas City is a realistic landing spot for Maclin
