Please Lock.

People complain about him going after smaller guys in Floyd, Canelo (really isn't smaller), and Cotto.  But they want him to fight a guy whose last fight was at 172, and who fought in the Olympics at 178  :lol

GGG isn't a huge middleweight.  He only rehydrates to like 170 on fight night.  Canelo will actually probably outweigh him when they fight.

Andre Ward supposedly walks around at about 180-183. GGG is at 170-175. Floyd is at 147-150. The disparity between Floyd and GGG is way higher than between GGG and Ward.

I don't mind the Lemieux fight for GGG and possibly even a Canelo fight or a fight with the winner of Jacobs/Quillin (if they would even fight him), but after that Ward seems like the best fight to be made. Floyd is a money grab and definitely picking on a little guy.

But I understand Ward being annoyed because Abel Sanchez is out here poppin big **** about fighting Andre but in reality that's only a fight that they want down the line, and definitely only if Ward can build his fame up enough to make it a big money fight, because they know the risk far outweighs the reward right now. And if they just said that it'd be completely understandable. This is a business, GGG is trying to maximize his profit with bigger money fights against more beatable opponents before he takes on a threat like Ward (a strategy that Floyd is currently getting dragged for in this thread btw but whatever). But instead they make excuses by saying stuff like Andre Ward needs to make it 50-50. So he sends them a 50-50 contract and they turn it down in 5 minutes. They don't want that fight right now, so just say that and keep it moving, stop popping big **** like you're ready to take on Andre Ward tomorrow, cause you're not.

this is why i dont take the GGG vs Floyd seriously... but to get back to topic the next superstar imo should be Ward... hes undefeated and just a good overall boxer reminds me of Floyd a lot... i dont see anyone beating him anytime soon GGG included... the problem with Ward is he doesnt fight enough which is a shame

The only thing that I think Ward's team did that was stupid was send in an e-mail for a fight right away last month, knowing that GGG has a fight with Lemiux. On top of that the fight with Canelo/Cotto. There's no way this fight should be 50-50 now after the situation both fighters are in.

Golovkin's team has already said that they wanted to stick in the middleweight division for now. Canelo and GGG have a much more similar size than GGG/Ward.

To be honest, I'd rather see a fight between Ward and Kovalev.

Exactly, dudes just be grasping for straws and making no sense at this point especially the Mr. Highness character :{

I agree with Drew, some folks just hate for the sake of hating. I hate social media these days. Some clip of Ward talking slick and downplaying Golovkin and everybody hops on board smh. Let's look at the facts. Ward is a great fighter but his best fights with top opponents happened years ago. Golovkin fights 2 to 3 times a year consistently and faces Lemieux, Murray (who arguably beat the champ Martinez at the time in Argentina), Rosado, Macklin, Stevens, Rubio, etc. All good fighters, definitely not tomatoe cans or cab drivers. Ward sat out for almost 2 years because of other issues. He fought Rodriguez, Smith, Green and gets praised for it. Golovkin has been much more relevant lately and has won in fashion. Ward honestly has no bargaining chips to bring to the table other than he beat some of the best fighters in the division.....years ago. I feel like Ward needs to become more relevant and get some good quality wins under his belt again before he starts leading the contract talks. Other than the money, did Ward ever specify on contract weight in the contract his team sent over? I didn't hear anything about that.

His team is on record saying they'd fight anywhere from 154 to 168, saying they want Ward, and GGG himself went on SportsNation like a month ago saying he wants to fight Ward. If they're saying now that they want to stick to 160 then that's understandable, but they definitely had a change of heart, because they been calling his name and saying they'd fight him for awhile now.

As far as Ward Kovalev, it'd be aight. But I actually think Kovalev, Ward and GGG all have good fights at their weight classes right now before they need to be jumping up and down weight classes. I wanna see Kovalev vs. Stevenson or Beterbiev way more than I want to see him vs. Ward. Ward vs. Degale, Abraham or Badou Jack should probably happen if they'll take the fight. And GGG got Lemieux, plus Canelo, Jacobs and Quillin around if they'll actually fight him. I think they all have options right now and if they clean up their divisions convincingly it'll make any fight between the three of them way more interesting.

Nobody is hating to hate. And we're not talking about relevance or who somebody beat and when. Were talking about GGGs team saying they wanted the fight, but then when they got sent the contract, didn't want the fight. That's it. There's not really much more to it than that.

And Ward didn't specify anything about weight but again, GGG and his team have been saying for a long time now that they'd go anywhere from 154 to 168. And they also were in talks about fighting Chavez Jr. and Froch at 168 as well. So the fact that weight would only be an issue now when it comes to Andre Ward says everything that needs to be said about how much they really want that fight, or how confident they are that they can beat Ward.

And I'm not mad at them for the record but just be real about it, Ward is high risk low reward. I wanna see GGG vs Lemieux, GGG vs Canelo , and possibly GGG vs. the winner of Quillin vs. Jacobs too. But just stop calling the guy's name and saying you want the fight right now if you don't actually want it.

how much apart are ward and GGG in weight? can this fight happen at a catchweight? as a fan i hope this fight happens asap... people really think GGG is god mode and he can beat anyone but imo Ward can stop him... but the fight just needs to happen... i agree though Ward needs to starting fighting more frequently especially since he got a new promoter so no excuses now

It has to happen at 168, I can't see Ward going any lower than that.

This post I found on Facebook, pretty much sums up Money May greatness. Casual boxing fans don't really know the history of TBH.

...Floyd is a boxing genius and purist. His defense is amazing. The way he is able to slip and punch and counter...beautiful...boxing isn't about "smashing on"...you want that...go watch UFC you knuckleheads:

1) Canelo was too young for Floyd but not for Cotto.
2) Cotto was too old for Floyd at 32 but not too old for Canelo at 34.
3) Floyd ducked Margarito who got ko'd by Mosley.
4) Mosley was good when beating Margarito but too old the very next fight vs Floyd.
5) Marquez was too small for Floyd but koed Manny.
6) Floyd dodged Manny until Manny got old when Floyd is 2 years older because Floyd never gets old.
7) Floyd cherry picked and beat an old Oscar while Manny didn't cherry pick an older and weight drained Oscar.
8) Oscar a cherry pick at 34, Cotto is a great fighter at 34 and Floyd is not washed up at 38.
9) Zab was not a great opponent.
10) Baldomir beat Zab but Floyd cherry picked him.
11) Maidana gave Floyd a good first fight but Floyd cherry picked the rematch.
12) Diego was a good victory but that was a long time ago.
13) Yeah Floyd koed an undefeated Hatton but Manny did it quicker because Hatton wasn't a shot fighter by then.
14) Sweat Pea and Ali had great defense but Floyd is a runner.
15) Floyd called out Tzu after 3 straight fights but was ducking him.
16) Gatti wasn't a good fighter.
17) Floyd was 152 against a 165 Canelo but Floyd had the weight advantage due to the 152 catch weight that Canelo asked for.
18) Floyd fought 23 world champions and they all weren't good.
19) Floyd isn't challenging himself at 38 yrs old because he's fighting Berto but his last fight was Manny.
20) Floyd is a different 38 because he has the skill to not take much damage...and that's not a great achievement.

I'd rather see Ward vs Kov since those two are pretty damn close in size.

We all know GGG's plans for now in the middleweight division. He's got more options there than Ward has at 168. What Golovkin is doing makes sense.

^^ Now that Floyd retired, who is the best P4P in the world. SOG? GGG? KOVALEV?

IMHO I say SOG. Even though he needs to start fighting the kovalevs, stevensons of the world. I think he would destroy GGG :smokin

Lol I thought the vid was funny, but they just need to fight whatever it takes to get it done. And it doesn't matter how long ago Ward fought those fighters he still has the better resume.

:lol @ that Floyd list, that's real talk. I'm pretty sure Canelo didn't ask for the 152 catchweight but otherwise I think the list is pretty solid. Floyd gets alot of hate for things other people catch no flack for.

Floyds ducking of berto punches in the later rounds was almost cartoon or Akuma like.. insane..

Ward may beat Golovkin on points, but I can't see him "destroying" him. Golovkin is a much better boxer than most people want to give him credit for and has never been down or out in his career.

Let the fight happen when Golovkin has cleaned house at 160 and Ward has become relevant again. If he can keep himself from filing anymore lawsuits...

Ward was walking around at 180-183 when he was regularly fighting at 168, which was like three years ago.  He's walking around heavier that that now.

And GGG was willing to fight Floyd at 154 with a rehydration limit.  I don't blame Floyd for not taking that fight though, and at this stage of his career he shouldn't.

GGG and his team were saying 50/50 everything.  50/50 weight, 50/50 money, and 50/50 location.  I'm certain the fight Ward sent them wasn't at 164, and he doesn't deserve 50/50 split if the fight's going to be at 168.

Just like he doesn't deserve a part of the Canelo-Cotto PPV cut, for being on the under card and fighting a scrub

You don't go as far as he did in the amateurs by just being a slugger.

Assuming both Floyd and Manny are retired

1. Sergey Kovalev
2. Andre Ward
3. Gennady Golovkin
4. Wladimir Klitschko
5. Canelo Alvarez
6. Terrence Crawford
7. Tim Bradley
8. Leo Santa Cruz
9. Kell Brook
10. Nicolas Walters
