I think getting knocked out by Lucas Matthysse made people forget how good Lamont is.

That too, but in my eyes Peterson was not badly hurt at the time of the stoppage. I am not saying that the stoppage wasn't justified, because one more punch from Matthyse would've scrambled his brains and Peterson had no answer.

I agree that the stoppage was probably premature but Lamont was very nervous of Lucas and his power after the first round. I don't blame him but he was probably losing that fight sooner rather than later.

Just finished watching the fight.

I had it 115-113 Garcia

I don't judge fights by how they appear to be overall or how the fighters faces look at the end.

If you just focus on the the last few rounds, Peterson won the fight. Danny took a beating in those rounds. But that's not how fights work. We can't let a part of a fight cloud your judgement and it's real easy if you're just scoring your rounds correctly.

It's a pretty simple concept a lot of people that watch boxing still don't get. You just score the twelve rounds, and add them up. It's that simple, **** the rest.

FTR I very much dislike Danny Garcia.

i think peterson waited too long smh... he could have started to stay in the pocket sooner rather than waiting for the second half... Lamont clearly won second half but gave away those early rounds imo... yes he slipped, ducked and all that but he did more backpedaling than boxing... I think thats why the judges favored garcia's offensive efforts

Also I keep reading and hearing people claim how Peterson outclassed and outboxed Danny. I think people are confused what being a boxer is. Circling the ring for for 10-15 seconds, back peddling, then throwing a jab, and repeating those steps is not boxing. At some point you have to engage and throw more than the jab. Boxing isn't JUST showing great footwork and being elusive, you have to throw.

There were too many rounds where Peterson was elusive, but he was JUST that, elusive. This isn't a dancing competition. You have to put some combinations together. People confuse running with boxing, and they're not synonymous. Boxers like Mayweather and Rigandeaux and elusive as hell but they also punish you when they make you miss. They never spend a huge chunk of the round JUST dancing around the ring. Peterson didn't really punish Danny until during the last part of the fight, but before that he spent too much time JUST being elusive.

He had a good gameplan. Danny has trouble making 140 and anybody who knows about boxing conditioning knows that the ones who have trouble making weight will fade in the later rounds. It's been obvious with Danny for a few fights now. If Peterson would have actually put some combinations together to go along with that great movement, he would have won this fight easily. But alas, he didn't and Danny won more rounds.

Peterson locked like he didn't belong in the ring in the first 4 to 5 rounds IMO... He wasn't "boxing" that dude was running... Period.

Funny thing is his running was unnecessary. He's the bigger guy he could've stood in there and won that fight. I still think Amir khan would give Garcia that L

Got to catch the Garcia/ Peterson fight. Like Garcia's reaction I thought Peterson was gonna win. Garcia started too slow.

Got to see a lil highlights of the Quillen fight, thought it would have been a good fight rooting for Emanuel's guy, but thought Cuba would have got the KO easy. Hopefully it'll be on demand today if not def tomorrow.

You can argue that Peterson's punch output wasn't high enough to not be considered "running", but who decides how high that punch output has to be? Some people say Rigondeuax boxes and then Lara runs, but how far off are they really? And even with Rigondeaux, there's a grip of people who say he runs too, so then what? That whole running argument is too vague and part of what makes these types of fights so controversial.

And then on top of that, the 6 rounds that Lamont didn't "run", where he was standing directly in front of Danny, he was whippin his ***, and there was nothing vague about it. So basically you're giving Danny a win for walking forward and throwing at thin air for 6 rounds. That's weak to me.

I was watching the fight, saw him dancing and showing Garcia up like, "why is he doing that is he even winning?  It was like the middle rounds too it didnt make any sense to me

Absolutely agree w/ all this. I was rooting for Peterson but I still had it 115-113 Garcia.

Peterson waited too long to start walking his man down. On top of that, he won every round in the 2nd half but Round 10 I believe, he appeared to take that round off.

If he had just put his foot on the gas 1-2 rounds earlier, Garcia wouldn't be undefeated anymore.

I think I gave Danny 5 of the first 6 rounds. I gave them to Danny because of Lamonts unwillingness to engage. I can't reasonably give you the round when you're backpedaling the whole round and only throwing jabs. While defensive, even Rigo and Floyd will engage with strong power shots from time to time, while still maintaining defensive posture.

I didn't see any of that from Peterson, just circling, jabbing, and refusing to actually fight.

As noted above, I was rooting for Peterson too.

I still stand by what I said that night. Peterson was robbed in my eyes.

That vid of DSG admitting defeat before the cards were called just confirms it.

^ that.

Peterson looked like he didn't even want to fight those first few rounds... I thought it was because of how he lost his last fight.

And I wasn't rooting for either one... And just wanted to see a good fight. Eventually It ended up being one. But how Peterson started was just wack. I was surely like WTF is he doing.

He did whoop Garcia *** the last few rounds... But that don't make the first few disappear IMO.

If you gave danny 5 of the first 6, then Lamont still got the decision, cause he owned rounds 7-12
