But those aren't "detailed" pics. I have yet to see a good quality pic of those so called "pythons". It's still those crappy SA pics that apprently has some 10yr old Nokia phones by the quality of pics they take. :lol

I mean for all we know, those pythons are great and cost even more because they had to meticulously pick only the part that has the more consistent pattern?

And those filling pieces are a lesser known brand, everyone knows the bigger brands with history will simply cost more from the name alone. This is a luxury shoes thread afterall. Same goes for Diemme who charged $500+ for their slip-ons. I've never seen those FIlling Pieces pythons in person but I've seen their regular shoes and they aren't that spectacular. And come on, regular Filling Pieces cost $230 (their chukkas actually cost $300 w/o any special exotic leathers) and the pythons cost just $70 more? I highly, HIGHLY doubt that is quality python they are using.

I'm just saying, all those pics are terrible and how many times have the pics that were posted here doesn't do the shoes justice?

I'll personally take some pics this weekend and post.. But I agree, based that those pics, this isn't an instant cop. If I'm dropped $$ for pythons, they better be identifiable..

True!! According to my SA, Balenciaga opted against the large python scales cuz they tend to flake and come off the sneaker.. Yeah, I kno that's BS but just passing on the message..

That's an awful reason though. I've had a handful of python products, and only had problems with a Just Don brim because I have a weird compulsive need to straighten my hat all the time, so I always rubbed the same spot a million times. I mean c'mon, even after the new pics of the Arena's, I still can't tell if the tongue is embossed or not.

You're just being picky to be picky now, if the sides doesn't look embossed (which it doesn't because there are some lifting in the skin) then the tongue will be the same too. You're just looking for the smallest reason to pass now. We don't need a close up pic of the every millimeter of the shoe to make sure that none of them look embossed. :lol

It makes sense to say you don't want it because it doesn't look python because they chose the consistent scales but to still insinuate the tongue is still embossed (and you can clearly see there are some skin lifting there on the side) just because the pics isn't close-up and detailed on that part of the shoe is just reaching ridiculous levels now. :rollin

Designers can't even make decisions on their own now w/o being questioned? Shoes gets scuffed and scraped all the time, it makes sense to decide to use a more durable part of the skin so the people who spends $1k+ doesn't get mad their shoes are messed up after a single wear. Ya'll were just complaining about quality in these shoes and now that the detailed pic are up and they look good and real and the decision for the move was to make it more durable, some ya'll still complain?

Again, if you don't like the look, that's cool because you got to like how it looks first but stop nitpicking every single detail.

That's what consumers are for, breh. Critiques and reviews. On Jordan's we judge for ****** leather quality and glue stains. On high ends we can only judge design decisions and material usage because quality is almost never an issue. Plus c'mon. If you had to choose between the two snakeskins, which would you rather have. But on a side note, why we always on the opposites sides of the debate, dawg.

I get throwing critiques out there like when the bad pics made the shoe look bad but once the a clear pic is shown with good detail and it actually looks good then credit has to be given where it is due. Not nitpick every part of it further.

I mean first people are like "those look embossed" then it is proven it isn't. Then people are like "why use that pattern", a simple design reason wasn't enough so then an SA gives out a reason that makes sense but then it is called BS. Then the tongue quality is questioned. If someone focuses a pic on it and proves its also good quality, what's next, the lining isn't made of python but calf? The eyelets aren't titanium? :lol

And like I said, it's cool to say you prefer the python with the wider scales because you have to like the look to wear them so passing up on the shoe for that reason is fine (since liking a design/look is subjective to an extent) but to still question the tongue just because the pic has it out of focus is a bit of a reach.

I'm just having a discussion here though, I try to be neutral if I could but if I don't like the design (which is again subjective) I let people know likes Asics or those handbag turned sneakers Buscemis.

If I really have to choose, I'd pick Rick Owens over the Arenas to be honest.

Embossed or not was never my issue.

Embossed regarding price, yeah that was an issue. In the blurry pics I could see the flakes on the back.

My main problem was that if it was real, the pattern sucks. I even said adidas had an embossed leather reptile stan smith that was indeed embossed and looked way better than this pattern.

So yeah my complaint is still the pattern, personally, if it's python, you have to go balls to the wall python how all the other brands do.

You can't just use the little scales all over the damn shoe. Appreciate the snake :lol

That's why I said it's cool if people simply said they are passing because they do not get the python look on a python shoe.

I was just saying most were saying it looked embossed leather and that they'll pass because of the $1k+ price tag. I mean the small pattern shouldn't be a surprise to most, a pic of the shoe has been posted for a few months now and kept getting brought back almost on a weekly basis. Main complaint I read were the quality looking bad but now that a detailed pic is up and proves it isn't embossed and it actually looks good, then other issues pop up all of a sudden. I just find that funny.

is it just me? or does anyone else think these RO would like so much better if the whole thing was python? (ie. the white colour at the back should also be white python)

it wouldn't look that much better but um sure, the more python the better

obviously rick did it like that because he wanted to tho, I like the contrast between the python and smooth leather personally

RFX, Where did you find the Python RO from?? I need them so bad lol

I've seen the all black version pop up on eBay but I think the black and white version was a collab limited to like 40 pairs at 1 store, never seen a pair in the market before

The new pythons at Antonioli.eu and I don't think it's a limited collab. Antonioli usually gets their stuff early so it might be dropping in other stores too.

There's also Iguana Geos this season

How's the quality on the DRKSHDWS? Is it really worth the price in your opinion?

This is my first pair of RO so I can't compare to others. Plus i got them for a great price. $370

Quality is excellent though. Has that heavy feel to it which I like about certain high ends. I know i could wear these out and about and not be concerned about messing these up. I'm not sure of the retail price, but personally i'd pay $5-600 max for these. Not necessarily based on quality but just because I'm not feelin them that much to pay more. Hope this helps.

idk why people act like drkshdw is made cheaply or something because it's not the mainline
Consumer mindset where + money is + quality. Obviously not always the case, but when you have identical silhouettes, one made with leather and one with mesh for around 1300 and then ~600-700 respectively, it generally gives off the impression that the leather pair is superior in most aspects, thus implying the mesh/canvas pairs must be inferior in some aspect, quality being the first that come to mind in many cases. Of course it's probably just price of material difference and more demand for leather, but it's hard to shake off some of the doubts.

anybody seen these rick owens on the market before , missed out on them the other day on eBay
