except its not gonna happen this time, this console generation is going to last longer than any other because of how expensive it is to make games these days and the r & d that would go into making new game engines for the next consoles
only nintendo is expected to release a new console in the near future and it would still only be competing with 360 and ps3

When PS3 dropped, it was like nothing else around. Proportionally speaking, it was way more advanced and had a bigger leap from ps2 than what the ps2 had over the original.

- there's a few problems with that....
- first, in that article it points out that no company plans on producing a disc until 2019-2020. which means sometime after then. 8-9 more years is a bit of a stretch even with Sony and Microsoft trying to squeeze everything out of the new motion and kinect. if we dont get another round of gaming systems by then id be highly surprised.
- second, its been widley talked about throughout the electronics community that there may not be another physical format for media. now that doesnt mean they wouldnt produce the disc. they could very well produce and use the disc just for storage purposes. media could go primarily download only........look at the new PSP?

- matter of fact, the more i think on it, if i were a betting man i'd bet that the next round of gaming systems will be download only wayyyyy before HVD. either download only or Blu-Ray (possibly even dual layer Blu-Ray). HVD is too far away.
