DRAFT ORDER
TBA

This will be my 4th year running the Niketalk Madden League. We have 5 slots remaining in the league and looking for new faces. We play sim style meaning, not going for it on 4th and 15 on your 36 yard line. There's a $25 buy in towards the super bowl prizes if you're interested in joining. And you must have Groupme because thats how we do most of our communicating. League discussions (scheduling, rules, playbooks, etc) will begin August 7th. Hit me up here or via PM for an invite. You may have to play the weakest person in the league (JAYFIEND) to see if you're competitive enough.

I just wanna play jayfiend so i can smoke his ***...got a few nanos up my sleeve

Who are the 4 teams left?

We haven't drafted for teams yet so all will be available, not to be confused with a fantasy draft where you draft players for your team. If you do join you would be one of the last 5 teams tho. We usually play between 3-5 seasons. If you stick around til next year then you'd have a better chance of getting a higher pick when we draft again.

HOW WE WILL DETERMINE THE DRAFT ORDER THIS YEAR.

I randomize the a list of the users in the league then assign each name to the list of teams in the NFL teams that will be in alphabetical order. We take the REAL LIFE teams' total yards from MOST to LEAST and then assign the draft order by MOST to LEAST total yards at the end of preseason week 3.

Just to be clear, you will NOT be stuck with the REAL LIFE preseason team for Madden 18. It's pretty much a preseason fantasy football before the regular season starts. The more points(yards) the higher your draft order.

I.e. Danyo comes up first in the randomization, so he would get the Bears, who are first in alphabetical order of the teams.

The 2 teams that will not be included in the preseason randomizer are the AZ Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys.

The newest 4 members will not be able to participate as well. They’ll just have the last 4 picks.

List assignments will be posted with the hour.

Good luck

Playoffs?!? Yes, playoffs, as the fans in south Florida were treated to a Miami playoff appearance for the first time since the Wildcat year of 2008. Despite being brutalized by the Steelers in the Wild Card round, the Dolphins retain an exciting core on both the offensive and defensive units.

RB Jay Ajayi, entering his third season in the 305, is coming off a breakout sophomore campaign in which he rushed for 1272 yards, including multiple 200-yard games. The wideout trio of Jarvis Landry, Devante Parker, and Kenny Stills has the talent to be a top-tier unit, but will be at the mercy of now-unretired QB Jay Cutler, as Ryan Tannehill suffered a season-ending ACL tear in training camp.

Defensively, the formidable veteran duo of DL Ndomakung Suh and DE Cameron Wake will be relied upon once more to terrorize opposing quarterbacks and stonewall running backs that dare try to tote the rock between the tackles. Returning S Reshad Jones gives Miami a pro bowl presence in the secondary to go with the likes of CB Byron Maxwell and S Nate Allen. Rookie MLB Raekwon McMillan will have to adjust to the pros quickly, but has veteran LBs Kiko Alonso, Lawrence Timmons, and Rey Maualuga to aid his development as a rookie.First round selection DE Charles Harris also will get a chance to make plays in pass rushing situations.

Key Additions - QB Jay Cutler, LB Lawrence Timmons, S Nate Allen, S TJ McDonald, DE William Hayes. Rookies Raekwon McMillan (LB) and Charles Harris (DE)

Key Departures - LT Branden Albert

From the Big Apple to South Beach goes Tone, who will bring his vertical offense to the AFC for the first time in his brief NTL career. The way he got there, however, could be termed as more confident than calculated, as he vows to do more than former Dolphin owner Manny has ever done in his native 305. Being that Manny has made the AFCCG on three occasions (M16, Y1 + 2, M17, Y1), Tone's mission is clear: Super Bowl or bust, in the form of $200 per his bet with Manny. He made it to the big game in Season 4 last year -- at the helm of his beloved New York Giants -- before being overwhelmed by Regg and the Texans, but a return trip may have just become exponentially difficult now that another rival of Tone's has now made his way into the AFC East as well...and that guy's won a couple rings himself.

Whoa...tough slate here. Road games against Reggie (Wk 2), Dave (Wk 6), Jose (Wk 8),Retto (Wk 10), and Flash (Wk 16) make for a daunting slate. Add in two games vs division rivals Mays (Wks 15, 17) and Bean (Wks 12, 14) plus a Week 5 home date with Cesar, and you've got a situation that may very well get worse before it gets better.

Prediction : 7-9

Last two Madden cover athletes...check.
Greatest coach in NFL history...check.
Greatest QB of all time? You can probably check that too.

Such is life for the New England Patriots. Jealous yet?

Halfway thru Super Bowl 51, none of these things seemed within reach, and how could they? Down 28-3 to the Falcons who had the league MVP, best wideout in the league, the league leader in sacks, and a Robert Alford pick-six of Tom Brady to boot!

And then, they became who we thought they were. Super Bowl champs...again.

And if you think they're done, here's a reminder: they just got WAY better over the offseason.

You know the mainstays: Brady, Belichick, Gronk, Edelman (torn ACL). Joining that "Core Four" of sorts is former Saints speedster Brandin Cooks, who figures to be equally as lethal in Foxboro. TE Dwayne Allen adds to the pass-catching unit, and ex-Buffalo tailback Mike Gillislee adds to a backfield that already has Super Bowl hero James White and Dion Lewis.

Good luck trying to keep up with them, too. What do you call not trading away Super Bowl 49 hero Malcolm Butler, while adding CB Stephon Gilmore, LB David Harris, DL Lawrence Guy, and retaining LB Dont'a Hightower? Plus JUST trading for shifty LB Marquis Flowers for what figures to be pennies on the dollar?

While STILL being set at QB for the future -- whenever that may be -- with Jimmy Garoppolo backing up Tom Terrific?

That, my friend, is the Patriot Way. May God bless the rest of the league.

Key Additions: WR Brandin Cooks, CB Stephon Gilmore, LB David Harris, RB Mike Gillislee. Rookie DE Derek Rivers.

Key Departures - TE Martellus Bennett, LB Rob Ninkovic, DE Kony Ealy, CB Logan Ryan, DE Chris Long, RB LeGarrette Blount, LB Barkevious Mingo, DE Jabaal Sheard.

For Big Bean, Madden 17 was an introduction into the NTL. Joining as the Jets midway thru Season 2, the former Miami Hurricane held his own in the trenches with former Pats owner Ronnie and former Bills nemesis, Antoine.

Now Bean gets a clean slate, and with the 11th pick, may have garnered the most value in the Madden 18 Team Draft. The training wheels are off, and the talent is vast...so let's see how many players get taken to the "7th floor" this year...

Maybe, if all goes right, Bostonians will find themselves using the term, "Beantown", in a whole new respect.

SEASON SCHEDULE
---------------------
2pqqh6s.png

In order to vie for the AFC East crown, Bean will have to get off to a fast start. Three of his first four games are at home (vs Flash, Slim, and Retto, respectively) and each of his early road games at Gix (Wk 2), Jeremy (Wk 5) and Mike L (Week 7) appear winnable. Facing Dave and Regg in consecutive weeks (8 and 9) won't be a fun ride, but the schedule lets up a bit on the back half , even with road trips to Denver (Des) and Oakland (Ant). We'll know a lot more about Bean as the year progresses, but for now I think he finishes over .500 and in 2nd place in a decent AFC East.

Prediction: 9-7

I heard a saying once....actually, more than once...

"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

The Jets must be reason for quotes as such, but I'll try anyway...no matter the difficulty.

Gang Green still has Sheldon Richardson, as well as Muhammad Wilkerson and Leonard Williams. They also drafted Jamal Adams with the 6th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, and he's gonna be a good one.

Besides that, they lost a lot...and games seem to be next on that list -- in abundance, might I add.

At least they're fast though!

Between QBs Josh McCown, Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg, the Jets will have at least three guys under center this year. Matt Forte is 31, Quincy Enunwa is out for the season, so on and so forth. Just sign Kaep and give us reason to talk about the Jets in a respectable light.

Defensively, DE Kony Ealy finds himself on his third team in 5 months. He looks to contribute to a defensive front that's really the only thing worth talking about on this side of MetLife.

Key Additions: Rookie Jamal Adams (S), DE Kony Ealy, WR Kenbrell Thompkins, CB Mo Claiborne, OL Kelvin Beachum.

Key Departures: WR Brandon Marshall, CB Darrelle Revis, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, C Nick Mangold, LB David Harris.

I only know how to say "uphill battle" in any other language besides English.

Three of Mike's first six games are divisional games, including a season-opening battle versus Mays. Also, Mike's first seven games are in conference play, with the first non-conference action coming in the form of a visit from Dave (Wk 8). Seven of the Jets' 16 games are against players who have appeared in at least one Super Bowl in their careers.

In essence, not much is expected from the real life Jets, and the same can be said for the Madden version. I don't see more than 5 possible, and even that seems like a stretch. It's just gonna be a tough year from what I can see.

Prediction: 4-12

If there's one team the Jets may have a comparable amount of talent to, it's the Buffalo Bills.

The recent fire sale that has gone on in western New York has left many Buffalo fans wondering when their team will return to glory, as holders of the NFL's longest playoff drought (last appeared in '99 season).

However, the transition has begun, as rookie head coach Sean McDermott takes over in Buffalo after a six-year stint as the Panthers' defensive coordinator. His first task of order may be to figure out his quarterback this year; the solid, though unspectacular, Tyrod Taylor has looked woeful in the preseason, and that was before he was concussed at Baltimore in the Bills' dress rehearsal. Rookie Nathan Peterman has shown flashes, and could be under center sooner than we think. Whomever it may be, RB LeSean McCoy will be the key cog of the offense, and with Sammy Watkins now a Ram and newly-acquired WR Jordan Matthews on the mend ahead of Week 1, rookie wideout Zay Jones may open the year as the primary target in Buffalo.

The Bills will go, defensively, as DT Marcell Dareus takes them. LB Lorenzo Alexander had a career year at age 33, racking up 12.5 sacks, but did so in Rex Ryan's 34 scheme. Reggie Ragland was also jettisoned just days ago, and McDermott's 43 pedigree will be an adjustment, as will life without 2016 starting CBs Stephon Gilmore and Ronald Darby. Micah Hyde, the ex-Packer, corner EJ Gaines and rookie CB Tre'Davious White look to help re-fortify the Buffalo secondary.

There's a lot of work to do here...

Key Additions: RB/FB Mike Tolbert, WR Philly Brown, WR Jordan Matthews, CB EJ Gaines. Rookies Tre'Davious White (CB) and Zay Jones (WR)

Key Departures: WR Sammy Watkins, RB Mike Gillislee, CBs Stephon Gilmore and Ronald Darby, LB Reggie Ragland, S Aaron Williams (career-ending injury).

Mays (2nd full season)
Favorite Teams - Steelers, Bucs

Next time Mays says he's gonna do something a year before he does it, you might wanna listen.

During the 2016 offseason, Mays, coming off of a partial season with the Patriots, declared he would be in the top 10 of the NTL poll of best players...

Now, at the tail end of the 2017 offseason and two championships later, he may be considered the best heading into the M18 arc.

In Indianapolis last year, Mays defeated Cesar and the Seattle Seahawks for his first title, before closing out the M17 arc with another ring against Chris' New Orleans Saints -- both instant classics. However, Mays' M17 goes even deeper than that; he also became prominent in the banter that the NTL offers, compiling a list of his own rankings, to the ire of a few. His battles with former division rival, and respected foe, Reggie, were some of the best contests of last year.

This year, he finds himself in close quarters with the Dolphins' Tone, and the on-field action is sure to be as fierce as the words between the two over the offseason were.

If Mays can rebuild the Bills to Super Bowl-level glory and obtain his third ring, he will firmly be entrenched in the GOAT discussions of the NTL.

Mays and the Bills should be favored in every home game this season (Mike L, Des, Jeremy, Ant, Gix, Bean, Colts - TBD, and Tone).

However, it's the road slate where things will get fun for the two-time champ. A Week 2 trip to Carolina could spoil Retto's homecoming, and Weeks 4 and 5 (at Dave, at Marck, respectively) will be entertaining contests. Week 11 marks another battle with Regg, who is now in Los Angeles with the Chargers. A duel with Flash at Arrowhead will ensue the following week, and divisional trips to Foxboro and South Beach will round out the Bills regular season.

Week 17 with implications would be huge! Then again, so too will the target on Mays' back this season. I still think he'll be in the thick of things, even with a sizable rebuild on his hands.

Prediction: 12-4

If you couldn't tell by now, the Rams are in the midst of a full transition...

But with their second year back in Los Angeles upcoming, in conjunction with second-year QB Jared Goff aspiring to show at least a scintilla of command as an NFL quarterback, one could surmise that they're neck-deep in flux.

Even their uniforms are confused...

But there's potential here, despite all that. RB Todd Gurley III enters his third season looking to regain his 2015 form, and should have more room to run thanks to the additions of ex-Buffalo wideouts Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods. Together, they and the diminutive -- yet electric -- Tavon Austin look to make Goff's life far easier than it was a year ago.

Life in LA won't be easy for any Ram if DT Aaron Donald indeed decides to hold out. If he does, the primary responsibilities instantly transfer to NT Michael Brockers, who will have to anchor rookie head coach Sean McVay's 34 defense. The LB corps is still a good one, with outside backers Robert Quinn and Connor Barwin racing to opposing QBs, and the speedy duo of Mark Barron and Alec Ogletree on the inside. CB Trumaine Johnson leads a Ram secondary which added CBs Kayvon Webster and Nickell Robey-Coleman, but lost S TJ McDonald in free agency.

In the right hands, these guys could actually be something.

Key Additions: WR Sammy Watkins, WR Robert Woods, OLB Connor Barwin, CB Kayvon Webster, CB Nickell Robey-Coleman, OT Andrew Whitworth.

Key Departures: S TJ McDonald, WRs Kenny Britt and Brian Quick, OT Greg Robinson, TE Lance Kendricks, DT Eugene Sims.

Speedy (4th season)
Favorite Teams - Falcons

As Speedy enters his 4th season in the NTL -- and second with the Rams -- he still is searching for his first splash in the league. When your crowning moment last year was a tie game due to fear of kicking a game-winning field goal, there is much work to be done. Even with the NFC West lightening up a bit this year, Speedy will have his hands full against the likes of Phil, Jesus and Manny.

The good part? If he knows some Niners fans, he'll probably walk away from each of his games against San Francisco with a few souvenirs, at minimum.

Speedy's slate presumably gets off to a favorable start, as his first two games (Colts - TBD Wk 1, Danyo Wk 2) are at home, and, depending on which Manny shows up in a Week 3 TNF duel, Speedy could be looking at a 3-0 start.

Then it gets tough...

Road games at JR (Wk 4), Chris (Wk 6), and Ty (Wk 9) -- not to mention home games vs Phil and Jesus, respectively, in between may have Speedy limping towards the halfway checkpoint if he doesn't take care of business early. A late-season road back-to-back against Phil (Wk 15) and Cesar (Wk 16) may put the wrong type of exclamation point on this season, and I hadn't even mentioned potentially rough games against Mixtape (Wk 11) and Gix (Wk 12).

I don't see much for the NFC Los Angeles football product this year. Hey, at least there's the Chargers...and Lonzo. No Big Ballin for the Rams, however.

Prediction: 4-12

2lut8oy.png

A year removed from an appearance in the NFCCG, 2016 didn't treat the Arizona Cardinals too well. As a result, the Cards may seem like a new team in some respects.

The offense will see 2003 #1 overall pick Carson Palmer line up under center once again, in what could be his final year in the NFL. David Johnson is making a viable case for best RB in the league, and future HOF wideout Larry Fitzgerald may still have the best hands in all of football. Receiver John Brown figures to stretch the field, assuming he can stay healthy this season.

Defensively, Arizona still boasts one of the best secondaries in all of football, as S Antoine Bethea joins the likes of standout CBs Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu. Rookie S Buddha Baker looks to help keep the Cards defense in the upper tier for years to come, as does first-round pick, LB Hasson Reddick. The loss of veterans on each level of the defense will allow for these youngsters to make an impact early in their careers.

The Cards are built to win now, but for how long? The desert sun for this bunch, as currently constructed, is setting...and time waits for no one.

Key Additions: S Antoine Bethea, DE/LB Jarvis Jones, LB Karlos Dansby. Rookies Haason Reddick (LB), Budda Baker (S).

Key Departures: DL Calais Campbell, LB Kevin Minter, S' Tony Jefferson and DJ Swearinger, CB Marcus Cooper, OG Evan Mathis.

Jesus doesn't get his first home game until Week 3, when he takes on -- guess who -- his Dallas Cowboys. Before that, road contests vs Kerm in Detroit and Indy (owner tbd) are ones he should win. With games versus Manny (Wks 4 and 9), the Eagles (owner tbd), Jeremy and Speedy all in the first half of the slate, Jesus could be as good as 7-1 by time he welcomes Phil and the Seahawks for a primetime clash in Week 10.

Late-season dates with Cesar, Ty and Phil won't have Jesus jumping for joy, but a trio of games before that feature opponents with quarterback issues: Slim (HOU), Chris (JAX), and Speedy (LAR).

In short, I'm expecting the Cardinals to rise like the Phoenix. Why shouldn't I? After all...Jesus Saves.
